The "Still Museum" retraces the life of the "bouilleurs de cru", or jobbing distillers, at the period when the right to distill was still handed down from generation to generation. In the heart of the Rhône Valley at Saint-Désirat in the Ardèche department, the Distillerie Jean Gauthier and the Musée de l'Alambic show the charm and tell the story of a vanished past, that of itinerant distillers. At the Musée de l'Alambic, you can see how brandies, aperitifs, creams and liqueurs are made. During your visit (individual or group), discover the process of making brandy, from the fruit to the bottle, over 1400m² of exhibition space, magnificent copper apparatus from the four corners of France, as well as a collection of equipment, utensils and other tools, which in 23 paintings form the memory of a part of our past. The chapel was built in 1619 but it was only in 1663 that we raised the tower to have a steeple on the chapel.

This house is the last still bearing the inscription recalling the lime kilns. There were three such kilns in Serrières, which received stone from Bugey or Cruas by boat and manufactured lime for the local industry. Before the 19th century, this district did not exist. There were only fields and orchards, and Saint-Sornin and Serrières were two separate market towns. During the French Revolution, this area was known as "Champ de Mars". In the 19th century, with the construction of the new district, the two "communes" were united, taking the name of La Fondalin. Rue de La Fondalin was home to a hydraulic lime factory used by the local industry. The manufacturers imported the raw material from the Ain down the Rhône (Sot-Brenaz quarry in the Bujet). Lime is a binder (mortar) that replaces cement and is a disinfectant. It was used to bleach stables. It was also used to neutralise the effects of copper to treat vines against mildew (Bordeaux mixture). There were 3 lime kilns in Serrières. The last one was closed in 1914.

The pond of the jousts is the executive of the tournaments organized by the Serrieres' club, the most titled of France.Demonstration and performance take place every Wednesday in hight season from 4 PM to 8 PM The construction of the pound was begun by Jules Roche during the creation of low port in 1890, then upgrade and expend the port facilities. The creation of the Lifeguards was created in 1896. They organise tournaments of jousts.

The museum is inside the Saint-Sornin chapel, a classified monument. It has three main sections: - a collection of recently uncovered religious frescoes - the necropolis church - canal transport and bargee crosses (fixed to the front of the barges).

The church of Saint Sornin is a classified historical monument dating from the 15th century and today houses the Bargees' Museum.

The workshop still in service on Vinzieux, is specialized in the manufacturing of viscose textile. A second workshop, today stopped, can be visited for the most great pleasure of our eyes.

Célestin castle-monastery, established by Cardinal Bertrand, was the headquarters and the refuge of the Catholics. The Célestin convent was destroyed by the Huguenots in 1560, then reconstructed in 1655.

The Nature reserve of Platière Island represents a surface about 500 hectares. Between Lône and the Old Rhône, you can walk through the alluvial forest, "small jungle" atmosphere guaranteed !
