La Voulte-sur-Rhône is the starting point of the Dolce Via route. You leave ViaRhôna to cycle into the Eyrieux valley in pursuit of the old locomotives. Your adventure in the footsteps of the old railway line begins in the middle of the peach orchards where you begin a spectacular and gentle climb up the valley to Les Ollières-sur-Eyrieux. Add the view of the valley, its river, its villages perched on the other side and your ride becomes, from the first strokes of the pedals, an enchantment. And the journey has only just begun... The route is signposted "Dolce Via" and is laid out on a former railway line, alternating between greenways with gore (granite sand) or bituminous surfaces and low-traffic roads. The gradient is minimal (1%). The beautiful Corten steel railings (rusty appearance), not only aesthetic but particularly welcome to avoid any risk of falling along the many steep slopes of the route, are a reminder of the route's railway past. Be careful crossing the departmental road 120 when arriving at Les Ollières-sur-Eyrieux before reaching the station.

Between narrow gorges, tunnels and viaducts, your cycling trip on the Dolce Via here follows the traces of the past. On your way, the old mills and silk weavers' workshops bear witness to the richness of the valley, which once welcomed many workers. The viewpoints on the Eyrieux are numerous and allow for beautiful contemplative pauses. Below the greenway, the calm waters of the river are an invitation to stop. Pont-de-Chervil is an ideal place for a refreshing moment halfway through the stage. You can walk further and further into the Eyrieux gorges, in the heart of an environment that sparkles with green and orange in the autumn, because here the chestnut tree is king.

At the 1st gate continue up along the basalt cliff to the junction at LA PLAINE DU REGARD DIRECTION: BERZEME Then cross the pastures towards Berzème, crossing the junction at BRASSE NEGRE DIRECTION: BERZEME Follow a little road beside the fields up to the crossroads at FAUGERES DIRECTION: ST PONS You will then enter a typical Coiron pasture in which you will stay well over to the left following the markings. Then take a path that goes quite steeply down to La Roche Chérie. From this point, go back down the road to LA PEYRE DIRECTION: ST PONS From there, climb up through the middle of a field, where you will then continue along beside the fence and then turn right onto a path that will take you back to the village. Variant: at La Peyre, climb up to the left on a path on basalt flow deposits. Once on the plateau, turn right along the fences to cross the Plaine du Regard, with a magnificent view point! You will then come back to the Plaine du Regard pillar, which indicates the descent back to St Pons.

A route full of colour : from the emerald of the River Drome, through the green of the vines and forests, the warm tone of the stones of the hilltop villages and the violet of the lavender fields. The cycle route follows the river giving little bathing spots…. You now have two options – to climb through the forest of Saou and end up at Bourdeaux or carry on as far as Saillans and climb the Col de la Chaudiere. On the southern slope, in the Provencale countryside the pines rub shoulders with lavender, green fields and, in summer, you can hear the noise of the cicadas. Take a short while or even a day of rest to visit the unmissable: La Gare des Ramieres, the Tour de Crest, the hilltop villages, the wineries of Clairette de Die, the herbs at Saillans, a ramble in Marsanne, the Synclinal of Saou, ou les 3 becs, le Poet-Laval, Mirmande, Vesc, La Roche sur Grane, the pottery villages at Dieulefit, …. This walk will take you through the Chateauvert district, where you can admire springs from the Vercors, including the Malcontents fountain, as well as shared gardens and protected wetlands. Leaving from the Tourist Office. Cross the crosswalk at the Fontaine Monumentale. Take rue Sévigné and turn left at rue du Refuge. Turn right up Canal des Moulins (the canal is on your left), passing between the buildings to reach the Chamfort parking lot. Continue along the canal to cross Cours Voltaire, then Rue Chateauvert. The canal is now on your right. Continue on the sidewalk along Rue des Moulins. Turn right onto Chemin du Ruisseau to rue Derodon. Cross the street and turn slightly right to join the path alongside the canal, which is now on your left. Cross Rue Jean Henri Fabre, and continue along the path until you come to Rue des Frères Montgolfier. Turn left up rue Montgolfier to the intersection with rue des Moulins. Turn right and walk down the street until you come to Chemin du Thon. Cross the latter and enter the park in front of you. Follow the driveway through the park until you reach the canal. Turn right again and turn left into rue Marius Moutet. Go up the street and cross rue Louis Ageron. Continue along rue Marius Moutet until you reach the impasse de la Petite Marquise on your left. This leads to Chemin de Robinson. Turn right onto Chemin de Laplat. Cross the road and enter the Fédération de Pêche parking lot. Take the left-hand path and follow the loop back to the Petite Marquise canal. Turn left and follow the canal (which is on your right). Cross rue Auguste Giraud. Continue ahead on the path. At the end, turn right, then left to reach the start of the allée Adolphe Pegoud. Take a few steps to your right and you'll be on Avenue Jean Clément. Turn left and stay on the sidewalk along the canal. Avenue des Baumes is the continuation of Avenue Clément. At the intersection with rue Paul Gataud (on the left), cross Avenue des Baumes and continue along the sidewalk. Pass the soccer pitch, the veterinary clinic and the tabac Presse. After the latter, turn right and follow the canal de la Grande Marquise, continue on Impasse d'Alzon, then at the end turn right up rue de Thibert until you cross rue Chateauvert. Cross and turn left. Take the 2nd lane on the left (before the butcher's shop) to follow the Canal des Malcontents Nord. After the children's playground, turn left into the park and walk up the driveway. Take Rue Sainte Thérèse on the left as far as Rue Chateauvert, then turn right up this street. On the left, follow Résidence Chateauvert along the canal (do not turn right into Résidence Chateauvert). Cross Rue de Serbie, continue straight on until you reach Rue Jean Joseph Génissieu. Turn right and follow this up to Place de la Paix. Continue straight ahead on Cours Voltaire until you come to Rue du Clos Gaillard. Turn left into Rue Paul Bert. Turn right in the direction of the train station and return to your starting point.

Discover a part of the rich history of Gigors, including the ruins of the Savel, the remains of an ancient medieval castle and the ruins of the Esperi, once entirely isolated in the lower part of the rock of the Aigle. Departure from Saint-Pierre church (car park behind the church). Take 30m on the road RD732, then join Les Fournats 1. Then take the path that ascends gradually in laces to reach the Ruins of Savel 2, the road continues towards Sagnol 3, then Boussière 4. Then join the Ruins of Esperi 5, then the Arthauds 6. You then have 2.5km to travel in an almost Mediterranean atmosphere to reach the place of departure.

[Difficult trail] From the wine-growing plains to the dry plateau, from the Romanesque church to the listed village, this trail combines relaxation and visits to some remarkable sites.

Follow in the footsteps of members of the Resistance as you explore the sites where a number of important events took place in 1944 with consequences for the Gervanne valley, its villages and surroundings. Start from the Champ de Foire car park and head to Les Chaux. After information point 1, turn left towards Frédières farm.Carry on to information points 2 and 3 until you reach the edge of the woods. Where the tracks meet, head for Beaufort-sur-Gervanne. Please note: after the loop to the left going towards Beaufort (after about 500 meters), make sure you take the track that goes up to the left into the meadow all the way to the summit (information point 4), then stay on the ridge. Make your way to information point 5 and head to the D732. On the D732, turn right then drop down near the first house on the Chemin du Colombier. Head to la Poste and walk down to the right past the Hôtel du Midi to get to the roundabout. Go back up to the left to reach the village square. On the square, take the first street immediately to the right in the direction of the Mairie (Town Hall) to get to the Old Village, where you can enjoy a stroll. Back on the square, you can walk through the public gardens before making your way to the esplanade. At the end of the esplanade, take the Grand' Rue to head back to your starting point.

Get on board the Mastrou, a genuine steam train, and follow the Doux Valley uphill to Lamastre then, all the way back, downhill to Tournon-sur-Rhône. Follow the directions to Saint-Félicien and stop at Arlebosc. 1. 12,4 km On leaving the village fork right signed up Boucieu-le-Roi. 2. 15,9 km Just before crossing the bridge of the river Doux, go straight on along the bottom valley road. 3. 21,5 km At the railway station turn left up towards the main road without crossing the river. 4. 21,9 km Follow the main road on the right side for a few kilometres. 5. 24,5 km Turn right onto the D534 towards Saint-Barthélémy-le-Plain. 6. 26.4 km As you enter Saint-Barthélémy-le-Plain, turn left onto the D238 towards Tournon-sur-Rhône7. 31.7 km Cross the bridge over the Doux to find the station on the other side.

A fortified and perched medieval site exceptionally preserved. Located on a rocky headland, in a water drop shape, the village dominates the Barrès plain, spotlighting the remnants of its medieval past. Visitor arrives through the Notables’ door, which is the main access; he can see the particular configuration that allowed defending it. Through the heart of the village, several stalls look like they are ready to open. The Dungeon (from the late 12th century), head office of the City Hall, highlights the limestone stone, in contrast to the chequered buildings that combine white and black stones of Coiron. Fortified village which is listed building as historic monument, Saint-Vincent-de-Barrès is also labelled as a “Village of character" since March 19th, 2012. This medieval village is perched on a basalt neck from the Barrès plain. There are lots of narrow streets, winding roads and houses in basalt. Built on a rocky headland overlooking the plain and the current road from Privas to Le Teil passing by Meysse, towards the Coiron plain, Saint-Vincent-de-Barrès is a good example of a fortified village, which is partially preserved and restored. It has six towers along the ramparts and four others (including the prison tower) protecting the castle. The dungeon is from the end of the 11th century, the additions of the castle have been added in the 12th and 13th centuries. We can see The Chambaud de La Tourette family’s heraldry, above the City Hall door, in the renovated buildings of the castle. Sir "Stéphane", a knight, would have built a fort at the Barry, in front of Saint-Vincent-de-Barrès in 925. Before the 10th century and according to the “charta vetus”, the diocese of Viviers created a foundation on the Gallo-Roman villa territory: the villa Artenica. In 1020, the Bishop of Viviers swapped with the Benedictines monks of Cluny the church of Saint Vincent with the church of Meysse. The Benedictines monks stayed almost until the French revolution. In 1905, Genton of Barrès took part of the first crusade. A disagreement between the Valentinois earl and the Bishop of Viviers about the suzerainty of the Barrès is set in 1213, to the benefit of the Bishop. Barry fort, sold to the Valentinois earl in 1256, is seized by order of the King in 1390, and returned in 1392. From 1424 to 1446, the Barrès, like the Valentinois, belonged to the Duchy of Savoy. In 1467, it belonged to the Royal domain. In 1574, Saint-Vincent was taken by the Protestant but it stayed away from the main disorders from the Wars of religion. It was the same during the French Revolution. The rampart was partially demolished between 1830 and 1905.

The Visitor Centre at Cruas-Meysse nuclear power plant welcomes people of all ages to answer their many questions about energy. What are the different ways of generating electricity? How does the power plant monitor its environment? And more. Orators are available to guide you in your discovery; entertainment is organized during school holidays, station tours are planned each month. The Printegarde nature reserve is a special place for nature lovers. The village of Rochemaure is an exceptional classified and registered heritage. The buildings are black and white because of basalt and limestone combinations which give it an elegant look. The medieval castle from the 12th century, the ramparts from the 13th century, Jovyac’s castle from the 16th century and Olivier de Serres’ hydraulic system are classified monuments. The old bridge, Notre-Dames-des Anges’ chapel, the old village are in the inventory of registered heritage. But Rochemaure is also well-known for: - ViaRhôna: the cycling road from Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean Sea alongside the Rhône, which is 100 meters from the village. The old village of Beauchastel clings to a rocky outcrop and towers over the meeting point between the Rhône and Eyrieux. It is laid out at different levels under the dungeon and, like so many medieval towns, was protected by a city wall. Grand'rue (main street), the former royal road, went up through the Eyrieux valley at a respectful distance form the impetuous river. In the early 20th century, it was the business district of the village. The number and diversity of shops and workshops revealed the importance of Beauchastel: 800 people lived here in 1901! The village was also the venue for fairs four times a year. All occasions for the entire region to engage in trade. The theatre : The Catholic cemetery was found here until 1980. Today this remarkable environment is used as a stage for all the artists performing throughout the summer season: concerts, theatre etc. The dungeon : Bellum Castellum, (beautiful castle) was first mentioned in 1179. Today, the ruins isolated from the square dungeon dominate the old village. The building that dates back to the 12th century has no visible opening. Nothing remains of the wall or other buildings that accompanied this tower at the beginning of the 17th century. The castle was already then described as ruined. A sculptor : From 1905 to 1944, Alphonse Gurlhie, lived in Beauchastel. Practicing an atypical popular expressive art, this unusual person made a garden exposing his "totem poles" that feature a colourful bestiary that prefigures "art brut".

The Neck of Sceautres is the most important in Europe. There is a statue of the Virgen Mary at its peck. 130m above the village, the neck, plug of the old chimney of the volcano, allows us to discover the geology of the site. Between 6.6 and 7.7 million years ago, the relief was reversed following the birth of the Alps which generated the central massif. Lava flows filled the valleys and erosion caused basalt collapses. On the neck there was a castle which has completely disappeared today. The site is accessible to walkers, follow the signs.

This restaurant serves local, inspired cuisine, giving priority to producers who take a reasonable approach to their profession. Bar and grocery store selling local products. Bookings are compulsory. Since May 20, 2022, Sylvain Volle has settled down in the kitchens of the Table du Barrès. After having cut his teeth in the brigades of Anne-Sophie Pic, in Valence, then Mathieu Viannay at La Mère Brazier, in Lyon, and finally alongside Jean Sulpice, at the Auberge du Père Bise, in Talloires (Haute -Savoie), he decided with his wife Margot to take the plunge by becoming self-employed for the first time. The couple met in 2017 in the establishment of the two-starred chef on the shores of Lake Annecy. He was a sous-chef, she an assistant head waiter. On the strength of all these cumulative experiences, Sylvain Volle thus summarizes these eight years in these great houses. ''I learned to work with chef Pic, I reviewed my classics with Mère Brazier and I discovered nature's cuisine in Talloires. In fact, it was with Mathieu Viannay and at the Auberge du Père Bise that I really took the measure of the profession."
