This walk takes you through the Wassoie valley. After the small stone bridge, there is a barbecue shelter next to a stream on your right. The path winds through the forest, and as you reach the plateau, you will be treated to a beautiful panoramic view of the countryside and the village of Grune on your right. At the end of the route, go down the rue de Coumont, and on your right is a superb sequoia (1m from the ground, with a circumference of 6.50m), 100m further on is the chapel of Saint-Monon (1834).

This route heads towards Masbourg, Mochamps and the Fourneau Saint-Michel, alternating between the hedged farmland around Nassogne and the Grande Forêt de Saint-Hubert. Very technical descents towards Masbourg. Offroad: 65 %

This route takes you over hill and dale, through the enchanting forest of the Forêt de St-Michel, where you will come across both coniferous and deciduous trees. The area is rich in game, so you might just spot a few specimens, to the delight of young and old alike. From the starting point, you can admire the Collegiate Church of St Monon. Shortly afterwards, you'll pass the ‘Les Goffes’ pond, with its water tower decorated with a superb fresco. When you reach the highest point of the walk (+/-510m altitude), there is a barbecue area with a shelter on your right. After the crossroads, on the descent, there is a panoramic view of the village of Nassogne and the surrounding area.

Welcome to Nassogne, land of history and legends, gateway to the great Saint-Hubert forest. The 63km Route des Points de Vue will take you from village to village, where you'll discover the unmissable views over the Lomme, Wamme and Masblette valleys and the surrounding countryside that make the region so charming. If you feel like stretching your legs, we invite you to stop off at the signposts for our signposted walks in the village centres. These walks also offer plenty of viewpoints, as well as picnic and barbecue areas.

A short, family-friendly walk starting from the village centre. The walk runs alongside the Inzofalle deer farm (which unfortunately can no longer be visited). After about 2km, as you leave the fir grove, you will enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the Grande forêt de St Hubert massif and the hamlet of Mormont. Next, you come to the promontory where you'll find the chapel of St Léonard (a modest building dating from 1877), with an educational sign telling the legend of the place. On the way down, the path is lined with crosses, installed after the 2nd World War. Return to the starting point, crossing the village and passing by the communal playground.

Ambly is a picturesque small village of 400 inhabitants within the municipality of Nassogne, right at the heart of the Famenne-Ardenne Geopark. As you walk the narrow lanes of the village, you will have an opportunity to admire a number of noteworthy buildings. In the village itself, you will pass many a stone-built farmhouse dating from the early 19th century, most of which have been lovingly restored. Another striking architectural feature is the number of magnificent half-timbered houses. Ambly has seen many battles throughout its history. The Duke of Luxembourg and the Prince-Bishop of Liège warred for many long years over control of the village lands. The village nevertheless remained a “fief” of the County of Rochefort, in the province of Namur, until 1976, when the two municipalities merged.

Behind the church, at no. 2, stands the former presbytery. It was converted into housing and enclosed by a low wall during the latter half of the 19th century: King Albert II visited the house on a number of occasions. As you make your way back the way you came, just opposite the church, at no. 30, stands a small redbrick house. In its day, it would have been a place of lively conversations and laughter as the village grocery store and café, Chez Flore, where folk would gather after Mass to play cards. Alongside the church, at no. 25, stands a long, low farmhouse dating from 1842, where the journeymen builders lodged during the building of the church. But Ambly is also home to another traditional skill: at 41 Rue Principale, the Brasserie Saint-Monon brewery makes a range of craft beers.

"I wanted to put my gîte on the map and show that it sits in a region worth the visit simply for the beauty of nature, a world away from the stress and pollution of the cities." What is your approach to sustainable development and environment friendly practices? "I am very committed to the strict waste sorting applied in our commune: we really have to sort our waste and take it to the container park ourselves. Even plastic bottles have to be segregated by colour. Most gîtes aren't used to such strict sorting criteria.
