MaquiStory

This museum tells the story of the resistance in Silly during the Second World War. The multimedia tour focuses on commemoration and is interspersed with collection objects and audio-visual witness statements. The collection includes a German aerial camera referring to the bombing of Enghien, clandestine printed matter, personal objects and helmets, but the choice was made not to exhibit weapons. This new memorial site is a beautiful tribute, appreciated both by the last living witnesses from that period and by the families of the victims and the local residents who helped pilots and members of the resistance who hid in the nearby woods. The chapel of Saint Marcoult, situated in the centre of the hamlet that was a hotbed of resistance during the second World War, is the ideal place to accommodate this memorial site. The visit is followed by a signposted 5 km walk, starting at the chapel and following an airdrop operation in real time. This museum tells the story of the resistance in Silly during the Second World War.
