Famous for its brewery and its local produce, Silly is also recognised for its superb undulating countryside, its rural heritage and its woods, which are among most beautiful of the region! The national forest, a 300-hectare beech grove, is crossed by the Sille, a tributary of the Dendre. Every year, it accommodates the “Online Site” tree-trunk sculpture contest The 21km circuit crosses the woods and extends into the nearby villages. It takes you to the discovery of an open-air exhibition of wood and iron sculptures created by two of the region’s artists. Some castles and farms are along the way. What do Silly and Enghien have in common? Their local beers, Silly Rouge, Silly Pils, Silly Saison, Enghien blonde, Enghien brune… are all brewed in the Brasserie de Silly. From Silly, known for its involvement with its local producers through the Slow Food convivium, you take small country roads that lead you to Enghien. Don't forget to visit its park and gardens, accessible by bike. Along the way taverns and cafés you will be able to compare the « Silly » and « Enghien » beers. This romantic and charming castle, a real treasure typical of the nineteenth century, bears witness to the daily life of the « Belle époque » era. The guided tour takes you from the salons to the dressing rooms of the ladies of the castle, and on to the dungeon where the linen was ironed. The old kitchen, which is a « must », used infilms such as « Germinal » by Claude Berry and « Angel » by François Ozon, evokes the copious meals of the period. In an English-style park, drawn by L. Fuchs in 1870, the visitor will find remarkable hundred-year-old trees.

The collection includes a German aerial camera referring to the bombing of Enghien, clandestine printed matter, personal objects and helmets, but the choice was made not to exhibit weapons. This new memorial site is a beautiful tribute, appreciated both by the last living witnesses from that period and by the families of the victims and the local residents who helped pilots and members of the resistance who hid in the nearby woods. The chapel of Saint Marcoult, situated in the centre of the hamlet that was a hotbed of resistance during the second World War, is the ideal place to accommodate this memorial site. A must-see historical site located near the city of Ath (Province of Hainaut), the château d'Attre is one of the most authentic witnesses of the second half of the 18th century in Belgium.   Château de l’Estriverie is mentioned for the first time at the end of the 13th century as a "house" belonging to Jean d’Audenaerde. This house was then located on the estate of the de Lestriverie family, the estate from which the castle takes its name today. Described in the 15th century as a "house and tower on a mound enclosed by water and ditches", this fortified house was built on the site of the motte castle of the 13th century. It was enlarged in the 16th or 17th century and became a castle in the traditional L-shape backed by a second group of buildings, also in an L-shape, made up of outbuildings. The castle is built in brick, limestone and sandstone on two levels. It has slate bâtière roofs supported by a corbelled frieze. The façades feature a lower section in limestone blocks or cladding stone. The entrance is dated 1630 and is adorned by the coat of arms of the Cottrel family, owners of the château in the 16th and 17th centuries A listed building, the Château de l’Estriverie has retained all of its majesty and heritage character. Its main courtyard, moats, turrets and roofs  still catch the visitor's eye and dominate the countryside. Building listed on 7-07-1976  

Listed in Wallonia's major heritage register, this castle is one of the most authentic vestiges from the 18th century. Completely furnished in Louis XV style, it has preserved its rocaille interior, its collections and its original neoclassical decoration. The castle is characterised by the homogeneity and the clear layout of the rooms. The simplicity and sobriety of the lines of the French formal garden in front of the building are in contrast with the 17 ha English landscape park, listed as an “exceptional garden of Wallonia”. The latter boasts several man-made curiosities including a rockery constructed in 1788, a concrete expression of 18th-century Romanticism. The 33-metre high grotto was used as a lookout by Archduchess Maria Christina of Austria during rabbit hunts! Only guided visits are possible.
