Camping Les Catoyes: nature and adventure in Lagrand

An easy ride around Lagrand lake, Buëch, Blaisance and Céans valleys. The trail main difficulty is the steady rise of La Rochette but the panoramic view at the summit is worth the effort. From Pont-Lagrand, go towards the main roundabout and take the Tréscléoux road at the north. Then go towards le Vallon des Lunasses alongside the Buëch (departmental road D 350). Overpass the Adrech mountain stream. Once the departmental road D 50 reached turn left to Pont Barnabas. Go through the small pass of la Rochette. Go on the departmental road D 50. There, you can see some cultures and orchards. A few meters after Merdariac mountain stream and La Flachière hamlet take the departmental road D 949 on the left near la Tuilière. The route passes nearby the Garde Mountain. At 616 meters high (halfway between the Blache Hamlet and Pont Lagrand) turn right on the Auchière way. Cross the Blaisance and take the farms path on the left. At the junction (661 meters), turn left towards Champ Jouvent (still on the farms way). Reach the departmental road D 30 and turn left towards Pont Lagrand.

Balade familiale pour pique-niquer à l’emplacement de l’ancien village, et parcourir tranquillement le sentier botanique ombragé. Depuis le parking en face de la mairie, longer la départementale en direction de Laragne. 250 m plus loin, emprunter sur la gauche le Chemin du Vieil Eyguians. Passer sous la voie ferrée et poursuivre en face en direction du cimetière. Une vingtaine de mètres après le cimetière, un petit sentier descend sur la droite et suit le lit d'un ruisseau dans une atmosphère forestière. Suivre le sentier balisé. Celui-ci mène en sous bois et à travers des marnes. Il remonte ensuite le gazoduc (ligne déboisée) puis repart dans la forêt une cinquantaine de mètres plus loin sur la gauche. Poursuivre l'ascension et au prochain croisement de sentiers, continuer sur le sentier d'en face. Il rejoint le Vieil Eyguains et son hameau abandonné. Une fois sur la piste, remonter celle-ci à gauche, à la découverte de l’église restaurée et des ruines du village abandonné à la fin du XIXème siècle. Des panneaux à thèmes jalonnent les vestiges de l’ancien village. Quitter la piste environ 150 m plus loin pour prendre un chemin à droite qui mène au parcours sportif, au coeur de la Forêt Domaniale de Beaumont. Traverser la clarière et poursuivre en face le sentier qui rentre en sous-bois Emprunter la piste sur une trentaine de mètres et la quitter rapidement pour reprendre un sentier à droite qui s'ecarte progressivement de la piste. Rejoindre le gazoduc et le redescendre sur environ 350 m. Virer à gauche sur un ancien sentier botanique et le redscendre jusqu'à la jonction de piste. Emprunter la piste sur la gauche pour entamer la descente (belvédère avec banc dans l’un des virages). . Au prochain gros carrefour, continuer la descente à droite. La piste longe le torrent de Bestiace en contre bas. Retrouver le point de départ en empruntant le même itinéraire qu'à l'aller.

Ce parcours vous permet de découvrir le château d’Arzeliers et le vieil Eyguians, deux importants sites historiques de la région, en passant par de magnifiques espaces naturels. La balade très variée contient des portions sur routes, pistes et sentiers. Le circuit commence en montant sur les hauteurs boisés d’Eyguians. Ensuite il emprunte une piste, puis un sentier menant jusqu’au château d’Arzeliers, avant de repartir dans les marnes et la forêt située entre le château et le vieil Eyguians. Une fois l’ancien village d’Eyguians atteint il n’y a plus qu’à redescendre au point de départ en passant par les sentiers situés dans les marnes.

Cette randonnée facile et agréable sur le plateau de Saléon offre de nombreux points de vue sur la vallée du Céans d’une part et le Laragnais d’autre part. Cette boucle offre une belle découverte aux abords du Buëch. Saléon est un village perché incontournable dominant la vallée du Buëch.  De l'église, prendre la route qui descend vers le vieux village. Traverser celui-ci pour rejoindre plus bas la D 130b sur la gauche. Descendre jusqu'au pont du Céans puis, juste avant celui-ci, bifurquer sur le sentier à gauche. Monter sur 40 m et tourner à droite. Le sentier est bordé à droite par la rivière du Céans, puis à gauche par un ancien canal. Avant de monter à gauche, en profiter pour visiter l'ancien aqueduc.  Remonter sur le sentier et atteindre un replat (point de vue). Longer une prairie sur la droite, traverser un petit sous-bois et déboucher sur une piste. La prendre à gauche et longer le haut d'un champ. Après 150 m, reprendre un sentier qui part à droite à l'angle du champ. A la sortie du sous-bois, traverser un chemin et suivre le sentier en face qui part à plat. A la fourche, prendre le sentier de gauche et monter jusqu'à la jonction avec une large piste. Au poteau directionnel, prendre la large piste à gauche pour revenir sur Saléon. Au croisement, prendre à droite pour rejoindre le centre de Saléon et l'église de départ.

Circuit varié pour découvrir les alentours de Lagrand avec une très belle section sur sentier dans les marnes juste sous le Mont de Garde. A noter: Au point de référence 10, une variante est possible pour esquiver une ascension plus fastidieuse sur sentier. De la mairie, descendre la rue des jardins (D 30c), prendre à droite la route de Trescléoux jusqu'au rond point. Poursuivre tout droit sur la D 130b et traverser le Céans. Virer à droite vers Saléon. Traverser le village tout droit. La route se transforme en piste. Poursuivre en face après le bassin. En bas de la piste de débardage, piquer à gauche puis, au croisement d'une piste plus marquée, bifurquer à droite (le long d'une haie). Longer pendant quelques temps le ruisseau de la Tuilière jusqu'au lieu-dit La Brune. Traverser le ruisseau de l'Ollagnier et rejoindre la route (cote 692 m). Tourner à droite. Après 350 m, suivre la route à gauche au croisement puis presque aussitôt à droite (sur la D 30b). Prendre un sentier à droite. Il débouche sur une piste puis sur une route. Prendre à gauche puis à droite vers les Planes. Quitter le chemin pour prendre la piste à droite dans un virage, juste avant les maisons des Planes. Longer les vergers et les champs pour atteindre le hameau de la Pension. Au hameau de La Pension, prendre à droite et traverser le pont. Passer Les Parayres et atteindre la route d'Eyguians (D 30). Virer à droite sur la route pour bifurquer à gauche sur un petit sentier environ 150m après la déchetterie (autre option moins sportive: à la jonction avec la D30, vous pouvez esquiver la montée fastidieuse sur sentier raide en empruntant la route vers le Junchier (60m à gauche après avoir rejoint la D30 au point de référence 10 sur la carte)). Ce sentier grimpe en surplombant les marnes grises. Du poussage sera peut-être nécessaire sur certains passages. Le sentier débouche plus haut sur une route vers le Junchier/l'Adrech/les Turcs. La route devient piste. Dans un virage en épingle, emprunter un sentier à droite qui monte progressivement et sillonne à travers un sous-bois de chênes. Suivre le GR à droite. L'itinéraire passe au pied de la montagne de Garde, puis à travers des jolies marnes. Rejoindre la piste, quitter le GR en prenant à droite. A Garelle, continuer la route à gauche. Juste avant le pont de la Blaisance, prendre un sentier à droite. Il débouche sur le plateau de Lagrand. Boucler l'itinéraire en suivant la piste à gauche jusqu'à Lagrand.

A medium difficulty track which offers breathtaking views on Chabre Mountain, Saint Genis and the Buëch valley from the ridge. From the town hall parking lot, go down along the road of the holiday village for 80 meters. At the first bend, turn right to arrive at a wide stony way. On the left, a lookout point where benches can be found enables you to admire the majestic Chabre Mountain and the Céans valley (including Pont-Lagrand village and Orpierre). On your right, between the playground and the football ground, you can chill at a watering place. From this place, go straight forward. On your way, don’t forget to look at the orchards, the pastures and the Garde rock overlooking the plateau. At the first junction, ignore the way on your right and go straight. When you reach a junction with a smaller path, turn right for about 100 meters and take the track heading up to the Garde rock. You can see Sainte-Grique hamlet on your right. Go up until the next junction, don’t hesitate to take some breaks to enjoy the landscapes, marls and the Garde rock. Go on your right towards Trescléoux and follow the GR® 946 markings (red and white). Enjoy the panoramic view on the marly rocks in the foreground and Chabre Mountain in the background. Take your time to enjoy the undergrowth pine trees coolness when the weather is hot. Be careful on the slope, the path steeply goes down to a marly ridge. In the marls take the path on your left (GR® markings) and go down the mountain side. Be careful, the slope is quite stiff ! Take your time and enjoy the panoramic view on the Dévoluy mountains. Reach a track in the background of the valley. At the junction, go on your right on a wide path and follow the yellow markings (towards Lagrand 2,5 km). Continue forward and ignore the left paths, turn right and straightaway on your left towards Garelle hamlet. In Garelle hamlet, turn left (towards Lagrand, 2km). Enjoy the panoramic view on Chabre Mountain. Go on alongside the atypical hamlet and pass on a bridge. At the junction 20 meters before Blaisance bridge, take a very narrow path leading into the forest. Hike up the hairpin bends in the plateau’s marly stiff. You can see the Lagrand church and Blaisance river in the distance. Turn left and reach Lagrand. At the village entrance, turn right to go back to the parking lot in front of the town hall. On the left, you can use the picnic tables for a quick snack. For the braves ones you can go on forward and discover the village church.

Very easy family loop hikes , accessible to strollers. The hike around the plateau is dotted with benches exposed to pretty points of view, shaded or not, in particular on the majestic mountain of Chabre. From the town hall car park, go down the road for 80m along the holiday village. In the first bend, turn right and reach a wide stony path. On the left, a belvedere equipped with benches allows you to admire the majestic Montagne de Chabre and offers an overall view of the Valley of Ceans, from the village of Pont-Lagrand to Orpierre. On the right, between the playground and the football field, a fountain allows you to cool off ... Continue straight until the next intersection. Along the way, admire the orchards and meadows and have a glance at the Rocher de Garde which dominates the plateau. After a small descent, take the track on the right which slightly goes up . Continue straight ahead to return to Lagrand. Coming back to the village, observe the Massif du Dévoluy in the background and listen to the flow of the Blaisance river. Continue straight to extend the walk by visiting the church and the village or turn right to return to the car park.          

Ce circuit VTT offre une bonne approche du monde rural. Ce tour traverse les panoramas agricoles de la commune de Lagrand et ses alentours. Partir de la place du village vers le sud pour rejoindre le panneau d'information des circuits VTT du secteur. Face au panneau, quitter la route goudronnée pour emprunter la piste à droite. Longer le plateau ; commencer une courte descente et ignorer la première intersection à droite.  Sur le replat, tourner à gauche à 90°. La piste descend (prudence il y a des ornières).  Remonter la route à droite (chemin des fermes) puis au croisement suivant, suivre la route à droite. Tourner à droite sur la piste au milieu des champs. Retour sur l'itinéraire de l'aller et poursuivre tout droit. Continuer la montée à gauche pour contourner le plateau et retourner au village.

This short walk through Trescléoux’s public forest alternates between ways and paths. It is an easy trail, perfect for a family day From the picnic area, go on your right and follow the yellow markings. Go straight forward and ignore the paths on your right and your left. Turn left on a smaller path at the junction and go on until you reach a bigger one. Turn right alongside the plateau. Slightly go down on your left and turn right on another path. At the « source » sign, turn on your right to see the source. Go back up in a talweg and ignore the mountain bike trail on your right. Go straight until you reach a forest path. Continue for about 50 meters et go on the forest path on your left. At the end of a huge pasture, turn left and go straight under a pine trees path. At the last junction, turn right and go on the same route until the departure point

This easy hike allows you to discover Arzeliers castle and the ruins of an ancient hamlet dating from the 16th century.It gives a nice point of view on the valley. At Arzeliers hamlet go down the road towards Laragne for about 1,3 km Once you have reached Logis hamlet, turn right and follow the path At the fisrt intersection, turn right and follow the trail for approximately 2 km After 2 km, turn right and follow the path which rises in the forest. Since 1922, our mill extracts extra virgin olive oil, a genuine fruit juice, only with mechanical means to olive oil amateurs’ great joy. For more than 40 years we have been making cosmetics and soap made in a cauldron just like Marseille soap. The harvest of olives is done manually with hand and automatic combs to preserve olives quality. Then, we proceed to the grinding of the fruit with a simple mechanical method, without the addition of chemicals or change in temperature. At the end of the grinding, we get an extra virgin olive oil with a free acidity lower than 0.8%. Our mill produces a local extra virgin olive oil. Our olive oil is peppery and refreshing which is specific to the aglandau olives (90%). Nearly 400 olive growers bring their olives to supply you with: - Green fruity olive oil - Local olive oil All our products are available at our shop and online shop: olive oil, homemade products, Marseille soaps… We also make basil, mint and lemon oils. Olive oil sold at the Serres, Orpierre, Sisteron and Laragne tourist offices. We offer visits of our soap factory from April to September by prior arrangement.

The sundial is located on the former coaching inn in Eyguians. The dictum : "Water is more vital for life than the time passing here, neither should be wasted".

La Blaisance takes its source upstream from the town of Montjay, it is a confluence of several torrents. It flows to the town of Garde-Colombe, passing through Trescléoux. It then flows into the Buëch.

Taking its source in the heart of the national forest of Beynon, the Riou dug its gorges. The Gorges du Riou connects the Jubéo Forest and the village of Saint-Genis.

Overlooking the Buëch valley, Chabre Mountain is an unmissable massif of the Sisteronais-Buëch territory. Well-known for its flight area, air competitions are often organised. Back in 2009, Chabre Mountain had welcomed the world hang-gliding championship. It also is a massif with a lot of hiking routes. They offer wonderful views of Lure Mountain, the Écrins massif and Ventoux Mount. A viewpoint indicator helps you to situate the different surrounding summits.

Saint Marguerite Church is adorned by a beautiful sundial. Somewhat unusually, this sundial does not give the time as it does not face south. Its dictum is : "My time is not short because hours spent loving children should not be counted."

The Riou takes its source at the bottom of the valley, digging beautiful gorges. It then comes to fill the Riou lake, very popular spot among tourists and locals during hot Summer days.

The paths crossing the forest of Jubéo lead to magnificent points of view on the Cirque de Genis and on the valley of Savournon. From there,you can admire the Riou gorges and the Pic de l'Aigle  that  stands out of the landscape.

The ridge of the « Saint-Genis Mountain circuit »’s hiking is an unmissable passage. This place offers a beautiful panoramic view on Le Laragnais, Channe valley and the Serrois. Many hilly areas like Lure Mountain, Monges mountain, Dévoluy mountain, Arambre mountain and more can be seen.

The small source of Saint-Lagier crosses the route forestière du Château (forest road of the castle) passing under a bridge. The stream then flows into the Riou-torrent, as one of its many tributaries. They feed the river by digging the gorges of the same name. They also fill the lake of Riou.

Indoors in the vaulted dining room or on the terrace, we offer simple family cuisine mixing dishes of the terroir cooked with local aromatic herbs and spices from further afield. Our menu varies following the seasons and our fancies but we favour organic and/or local produce. Everything on the menu is home-made with fresh quality products. Lunch time and afternoon : Savory and sweet snacks, ice-creams, drinks... In the evening we serve the Auberge set menu at 7.30 pm with the gîte’s guests for a friendly diner. Remember to book.

La Boule d'Or restaurant welcomes you at the foot of the medieval village of Rosans, on the Nyons-Serres road. Meals are served either in a beautiful vaulted dining room or on the terrace.

On Rosans' village place, Noëlle & Laurent are happy to welcome you in their restaurant Ô Fourchat. You can drink, have breakfast, have dinner inside or outside on the shady terrace with a view on the Fourchat summit.

The campsite des Rosières offers a snackbar-pizzeria on a terrace in the shade in front of the swimming pool.

Set on the outdoor terrace with views of the Baronnies Provençales, or in the privacy of the vaulted room, you will enjoy a cuisine based on local products at the campsite restaurant (in the evening on reservation). Le Moulin Campsite welcomes you at the heart of nature, close to the source of the river Drôme. There are several sanitary blocks and showers as well as a sheltered communal open space with tables and a fridge. The campsite has a group shelter where you can meet or take shelter in bad weather. Situated at the foot of the village built on a rocky outcrop, Camping du Moulin is close to all village activities: hiking, themed hikes, mountain bike trails, archery, tennis, climbing, children's games. You choose where you pitch.

Valdrôme in Haut-Diois is surrounded by mountains, some with lavender fields. It is a charming hilltop village at 800 m of altitude on a rocky outcrop offering one of the clearest starry sky in France. Hikers, families, groups of friends, sports clubs…everyone is welcome for a night or a longer stay at Auberge de Valdrôme. We offer 6 bedrooms accommodating 2 to 4 guests in single and/or double beds. Each bedroom is en-suite with a shower and a washbasin. There are two shared toilets on the landing.

Many walks, hikes, on foot or by bike, but also discovery of the surroundings, fauna and flora. You will also be able to refresh yourself with the water of Pigerolles, at the entrance of our village, without forgetting our market of the soil of Sunday morning.
