A very short path to discover the small rural heritage of the Upper Limousin. The oratory of Couret was built at the beginning of the second world war to ask for peace. On the spot a chapel to the Virgin, a way of the cross, a fountain called Coucu and at the top of the path a calvary.

Magnac Laval is a town with a rich historical and religious past. It is the capital of the Basse Marche region in the heart of the Haut Limousin. This tour takes you through the town and along the route of the nine-place procession that takes place every year in Magnac-Laval on Whit Monday, in honor of Saint-Maximin. This ancient custom (4th century) has always been a lively and popular one.

In the heart of the small village of Saint Léger Magnazeix, Martine has converted this pretty little village house, which opens onto a terrace and pleasant enclosed garden at the rear. Adjoining her own house, it took 5 years of renovation, painting and decorating for her to transform it into a comfortable vacation home. Very involved in local activities and culture, she will be delighted to show you around the area where she has come to spend a peaceful retirement.

We renovated the gîte at the end of 2022 with all the necessary comforts, retaining some of the original features but adapting some modern ones: air conditioning, mosquito nets on the windows, modern electric fire for the autumn/winter months. We have an ecological wood-fired jacuzzi which is included for stays of 7 nights or more, and extra for short stays, reserved exclusively for our guests. You can relax with a complimentary bottle of bubbly while gazing at the stars. For your entertainment: large garden with deckchairs, table tennis, badminton, darts and archery. If you'd like to leave your car at home, there's a secure garage for your bikes or car.

Le Puy Saint Jean is the hamlet that Patrice and Catherine chose some thirty years ago to return to farming after selling the family farm in Creuse. The Prieuré des Bronzeaux is the only remaining Grandmontain monastery in the Limousin region. After being farmed for several centuries and gradually falling into ruin, it was saved by a S.C.I created for the occasion by members of the Groupe d'Etudes et de Recherches sur les Grandmontains (G.E.R.E.G). The site has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1999. Discover the cloister courtyard, chapter house, monastic refectory, cellar and upstairs dormitory. The Bouery dolmen is one of the largest in the Haute-Vienne department. The covering table has many rounded cavities: the locals say that children used to have fun making holes while tending their sheep! Legend has it that it was erected by 4 fairies: the one holding the large slab on her head said: "With God's help, I'll manage to erect it"; another, who only had a small stone, said: "With or without God's help, I'll manage to erect mine"; this stone can be seen a metre from the monument...

Classified as a Natura 2000 site, Etang de Murat is located in the communes of Saint Léger-Magnazeix and Lussac les Eglises, in the north-central part of the Haute-Vienne department, around 50 kilometers from Limoges. The commune of Lussac-les-Eglises borders the entire northeastern bank for over a kilometer (where the ornithological observatory is located). A man-made lake built on the Asse river, it is one of the largest and oldest ponds in the Haute-Vienne department. Built between 1474 and 1534, the 30-hectare Etang de Murat has long been recognized by naturalists for its ecological richness (water chestnut, litorelle des lacs, kite lucane, marsh copper...). Le Moulin des Combes is a unique site in the Upper Limousin! Situated on the banks of the Brame river, it is an eco-sustainable gîte, a naturopathic center and a Zen Spa. Guided tours will introduce you to the history of the Moulin from past to present, as well as the "sustainable" approach initiated by the owners and current projects. Wild edible plant events, courses and cures are also on offer.

The Benaize river rises in the commune of La Souterraine and forms the boundary between the Indre and Vienne departments. It spreads out in the middle of a green bed to form Lac de Mondon. Captive of the calm waters of the lake, it escapes through a narrow corridor to mingle with the waters of the Glévert, then becomes more tumultuous, encumbered by gigantic rocks. Not far away, you'll discover the rock shelter of the "Pont du Loup" (in the 1960s, flint artifacts were discovered here). Its course is blocked by a rocky outcrop, leaving just a narrow corridor where the Benaize rolls and leaps over a difference in level of around 2m, rushing and bubbling its way out in a sonorous and intense environment forming the Pot Bouillant. In addition to the waterfall, you'll discover the Marmite and Pas de B?uf, natural cavities hollowed out by the tumultuous waters.
