Camping Les Hauts de Rosans: Discover Rosans' Hidden Charms

« Le chemin du facteur » – The Postman round – has a very long rise, some ridges to go through and beautiful panoramic views. A variant of this hiking also exists through Le Fourchat ascent. From Rosans’ place, take the road leading to the Pommerol pass and then take the second right turn towards the barracks. Once the barracks overtaken and the dead end reached, take the path on your right. Pass in front of the Calvary overwhelming the village to go to the ridge. Cross a track (1018 meters) and hike until the summit of le Suquet (1098 meters) is reached. After this, there is an easier climb to reach the Counière pass (1117 meters). Go on the path leading to Pertus’ ridge. From Pertus’ ridge, a return trip to the Fourchat summit (1563 meters) is possible by following the track on the right. – The return trip is about 2,6 km and 260 meters slope – Then go on the main track on the left until the Pommerol pass. At the Pommerol pass, go down the road and take the 1st path on your left leading to Rosans called « chemin du facteur ». On your right, reach and follow the hairpin bend of a wide track for 60 meters and then take the path on the left. Start walking on a flat path and go down the slope crossing some other tracks. The path goes down to Rosans. Reach the crossroads above the village and go back to the departure point by hiking the same route.

Chemin utilisé jusqu'en 1925 pour porter le courrier de Rosans à Sainte-Marie-de-Rosans ! Entre chênes, pins et buis, découverte du col de la Fromagère-Pommerol, du hameau de Raton et du patrimoine du village ensoleillé de Rosans. De la place de Rosans, prendre la direction du Col de Pommerol, puis la 2ème à droite vers la caserne des pompiers. Dépasser la caserne et, en haut de l'impasse, prendre le sentier de gauche (l'ancien chemin du facteur). Le sentier coupe plusieurs pistes. Le suivre toujours en face. Rejoindre une large piste et la remonter pour récupérer la suite du sentier dans l'épingle. Au bout du sentier, atteindre le col de Pommerol en suivant la route sur la droite. Au col, emprunter le sentier à gauche et, 25 m plus loin, prendre de nouveau à gauche. Le sentier redescend dans le Grand Béal, vers le hameau de Raton. À la piste de Raton, prendre à gauche pour rejoindre le hameau. Au hameau de Raton (720 m) continuer tout droit, sur la longue piste vers Rosans. 30 m après un carrefour, emprunter un chemin à droite qui descend sur une crête. Longer ensuite des marnes pour rejoindre le torrent de Pigerolles. À la route, un passage à gauche dans le torrent vous permet de la traverser par en-dessous. Atteindre la base de loisirs qui se situe de l'autre côté après avoir longé une prairie. Elle vous offrira le réconfort de la baignade après une bonne randonnée. Continuer en prenant la sortie à gauche, puis, à la jonction avec la D 994, traverser et emprunter le sentier qui passe à côté de la Chapelle Saint Gabriel pour regagner le village.

Along a family walk, discover the village and the surrounding man-made agricultural landscape, in the middle of arid marl lands. On the way, a stopoff is possible to the lake (« Plan d’eau ») and at the playground. On the west side of the Square, towards the petanque field, take the street called « rue du Temple » and pass over the Townhall. Take on the right the « Passage des Tilleuls », go on for about 20 meters, then take the patch along the old rounded wall, in front of you. Go on to the Chapel Saint-Gabriel. Reach and cross over the road D 994. Continue on the small road in front of you. On the right, there will be the playground and the lake « Plan d’eau ». After a sharp turn on your right, go on the patch towards the intersection after the stream. Turn left and go up the patch until you reach the departemental road D 994. Turn right, walk along the road, cross it at the crosswalk, in front of the funtain located on the small square. At the end of the small place, take the little patch along the left bank of the Estang stream, which brings you to a hairpin bend on the road. Walk up for about 30 meters, then turn straight on the right and climb up to the grazing until you reach a patch. Turn straight on your left and reach the road. Walk down the road to the departure point.

Circuit sportif et amusant pour découvrir la forêt domaniale de l’Eygues et profiter d’une fin de parcours dynamique, dominant la vallée du Rosannais. Au départ de la place de Rosans, prendre la route qui monte à droite de l’église. Il faut rapidement prendre une piste pour monter au col de l’Archimbaou (environ 6km de piste pierreuse). En haut du col (1084m), au milieu des forêts de pins noirs, poursuivre sur des pistes qui descendent légèrement sur la face Est du Serre de l’Aigle. Un sentier sur la gauche, permet de quitter la piste pendant quelques mètres, avant de reprendre une petite ascension sur piste. Laisser la piste partir sur votre gauche et s’engager sur le sentier à droite. Un passage en sous-bois très roulant permet de rejoindre une portion de piste herbeuse en direction du col de l’Archimbaou. Au niveau de ce dernier, bifurquer à gauche sur un très beau single track dans la pinais. Déboucher sur une piste pour la dernière partie montante. En haut de la crête, emprunter le sentier pierreux descendant, roulant et très joueur. Le paysage est très dégagé et permet une belle vue sur toute la vallée de Rosans. Il est également possible d’apercevoir le Mont Ventoux par temps dégagé. Le sentier s’achève sur la route qui remonte dans le centre de Rosans

Very varied hike in the national forest then on the ridge. This walk allows you to discover the Vallon de l'Estang and beautiful panoramas over the Rosans basin. Discover the toponymic path (study of place-names) of the Regional Natural Park of Baronnies Provençales. From the village square, go up along the small road to the right of the Church in the direction of Lastic by the GR 91. After Lastic, the road gives way to a track suitable for vehicles. Follow it for 2 km to l’Estang (1st observation point of the toponymic path). Pass the locality while remaining on the track and enter a pine plantation. A few tens of meters further, find an old path to the right of the track, at the level of a bench, and leave the GR markings for the PR markings. Follow this path, along the hillside of the Estang valley (stream below). Cross the stream and go up to come out on a track. Follow this track to the right for 1 km (2nd observation point of the toponymic path). In a sharp curve, take a path that goes to the right and plunges onto the crest of Serre de l'Aigle. At a boundary marker of the PNR des Baronnies Provençales (3rd observation point), turn right and walk along a fence for 700 m. Continue down hill, the path bends to the left and reaches large limestone slabs. Some traces of fossils can be observed. Go down the slabs and find a path on the right which leads to a track. Continue on it. At the crossroads, turn right, and again to the right in a sharp curve, At the tarred path, turn left and descend it. Continue to the village center, along the kindergarten.

Cette boucle cyclotouristique de 60 km emmène dans le Rosanais. Elle permet la découverte de la sauvage vallée de l’Oule grâce au célèbre col des Tourettes, une des plus hautes routes des Baronnies Provençales (1126 m d’altitude). Elle regagne ensuite Rosans par l’immanquable Col de la Fromagère. Depuis Rosans, descendre la rue Aristide Briand pour rejoindre la route de Gap et la suivre jusqu'au prochain carrefour. Emprunter la D 949 jusqu'à Montjay en passant par Saint-André-de-Rosans. A Montjay, suivre la D 226 et passer le col de Serre Larobe (1014 m) pour rejoindre l'axe Serres/Rosans. Au carrefour, emprunter la D 994 sur 2 km jusqu'à l'intersection avec la D 26. Entreprendre l'ascension du col des Tourettes (avec une pente à 7 % de moyenne). Suivre la D 26 jusqu'à La Charce. A la Charce, prendre la D 338 puis D 25 pour revenir à Rosans et sa place de l'Abbé Bicais.

Une petite escapade facile à vélo jusqu'à Saint André de Rosans et son Prieuré Bénédictain du Xème siècle. Cette boucle facile part à la découverte du bassin du Rosanais. Le village fortifié de Rosans, semble comme un joyau posé sur un écrin de verdure. L’ocre des façades, les couleurs ensoleillées des tuiles canal, et une étonnante Tour Carrée invitent à une visite approfondie ! C'est tout le charme des bourgs médiévaux que l'on retrouve en flânant dans Rosans : ruelles pavées, passages couverts, édifices religieux, fontaines et lavoirs, belles demeures et portes ouvragées.En chemin, il ne faut pas manquer l'ancien prieuré clunisien de Saint-André-de-Rosans, classé Monument Historique, édifice d'art roman provençal avec ses frises sculptées et ses mosaïques du XIIe siècle, jumelles de celles du monastère de Ganagobie.L'itinéraire se poursuit au fil de l'Eygues sur la D 425. Au croisement de la Ferme aux Arômes de Mange-Fèves, continuer à droite sur la D 116.Emprunter enfin la D 25 pour revenir jusqu'à Rosans.

D'une centaine de kilomètres, cette boucle sportive Drômoise propose une découverte variée des Baronnies Provençales. Elle passe par plusieurs cols dont celui de Perty et sa magnifique route en lacets bordée de tilleuls. De mi-juin à mi-août, quand les champs de lavande sont en pleine floraison, c'est une escapade enivrante avec du violet à perte de vue qui attend les cyclotouristes. Depuis Rosans, rejoindre la D 994 en contrebas du village, se diriger direction Verclause et les gorges de l'Eygues. En arrivannt au niveau de La Combe, bifurquer à gauche et entammer l'ascension du  col de Soubeyrand sur 8 km (pente constante supérieure à 6 % avec des passages à plus de 9 %). Continuez vers Bellecombe-Tarendol puis Saint Sauveur Gouvernet. Passer le col de Peyruergue 6 km plus loin. Au croisemenent, prendre la D 546 pendant 1,5 km puis la D 65, en direction du Moulin de Montguers. De Ruissas, poursuivre l'ascension du col de Perty par une route en épingles sur 9 km. Depuis le Col de Perty,  descendre sur 8 km. Tourner à gauche, avant le village de Laborel et prendre la direction de Villebois les Pins par le col de Pierre Vesce (D 65b). A Villebois les Pins, poursuivre à gauche et passer le col du Reychasset (1052 m). Rejoignez ensuite Chauvac. A la sortie du village, prendre la D 116 jusqu'au Moulin de Mange Fêve Regagner Rosans par l'Aubergerie.

Balade bucolique et ombragée qui fait le tour du plateau de Pié-Léger. Emprunter le chemin à droite au bout du parking à l'ombre des pins. Le chemin est encaissé par endroits. Au bout du chemin, prendre le sentier qui monte à gauche. En haut de cette montée, suivre sur la droite le bord du plateau. Le quitter rapidement vers l'intérieur au niveau d'une borne sculptée dans la pierre, pour traverser une zone de buis et de genévriers. Après un replat, le sentier arrive quasiment au centre du plateau (table de pique-nique). Prendre à droite le chemin qui monte encore un peu jusqu'à une clôture. Retrouver la bordure du plateau. Longer la clôture sur la gauche. A un virage en demi-lune, où le sentier se transforme en vieille piste, prendre à gauche. Arrivé à un large carrefour, prendre en épingle à droite et descendre jusqu'au départ.

A particulary eye-catching path which offers a panoramic view on Le Rosanais and L’Oule valleys. La crête de Raton is a very privileged place where chamois can be observed. It is a quite athletic trail but it is worth the effort ! The Raton’s hamlet (716 meters) where rapid streams water flows into is located at the south of the dell. It is also the place where the Baudon river starts and it is related to the Eygues river. From the hamlet, take the left path and start a long climb up. This path was the old access to those houses which are only ruins now. Once the Replat reached (921 meters), go on the path until the end of it and then take an enjoyable way which climbs up into a bank and reach a small ridge. It brings you to the pastures of Staton. When Staton’s – pronouced ‘’ Taton ‘’ by locals – sheepfold can be seen, go straight forward. On your way, the coolness of a spring can be felt near the ruins and the pass. At the pass (1124 meters), take the acsending path leading to the right side of Gravières mountain. It is a path with a lot of small stones. The path leads to the Pas de la Pousterle situated at 1364 meters high. - In Occitan, ‘’Pousterle’’ means a small door or a hunting station. – Reach the ridge and continue on the right side of it. From La Sapie (1497 meters), follow the track of « la passière de la Sapie ». The panoramic view offers a wonderful north sight on Saint-Romans mountain, the village and the ruins of Pommerol. The left path is hard to see – an information board is near the path. – There are a few stairs to walk down, be careful of the roots, the slope is quite steep. Then, an easier path leads to la Fromagère pass (stay on the main route.). At la Fromagère pass (1091 meters), take the path on your right and follow right away the left one leading to « Le Grand Béal ». At the signpost (781 meters), reach the track and turn left towards Raton to go back to the departure point.

L’Huilerie Richard is a family business of millers and peddlers, passed down from father to son for 5 generations now. L’Huilerie Richard was founded in 1885, in Mollans-sur-Ouvèze in Drôme. My great-grandfather, Henry Richard, made his own olive oil in his mill and then, with the help of his cart and his mule, he went to sell his olive oil, olive and soap production from farm to farm by peddling. Today, the traditions of peddling, local olive oil production and blended olive oils are kept alive in my beautiful French department of Drôme. In the north, in Montoison, we produce walnut oil, hazelnut oil and rapeseed oil. In the south, in Nyons, we produce PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) Nyons olive oil. It is estimated that the village of Rosans was founded in the 8th century after the passage of the Lombards and the Sarasins. From the top of its small hill, the village has a good monitoring capacity and a defensive advantage. A rampart that we still use to reach the heart of Rosans, surrounded the village. In the 14th century, the village was invaded by the Provençaux but resisted thanks to its garrison and its ramparts.

The Suquet ridge’s path offers many outlooks where you can admire Rosanais valley and the outset of La Drôme through the Pommerol pass.

The square tower, located in the center of the medieval village of Rosans, dates from the 12th century. The walls are made of diamond-cut stone blocks, four meters thick, and each face looks at one of the four cardinal points, so that when three of its sides are in the shade, it marks the hour of noon. This tower, wrongly called "Tour Sarrasine" is not an example of the Moorish architecture in the South of France. The building is listed as a historical monument since 1932.

Mostly situated around the mediterranean area and in the Côte d’Azur, broom flowers (Cytisius scoparius) can even be found in south Alps. Broom flowers can be seen on the whole territory and their sight and scent are very enjoyable. Broom flowers also make the landcape lovely.

Around the Estang valley, there are many names of places that are linked to water. "L'estang" (étang means pond in French) lets you guess the presence of a pond that probably used to be landscaped, but that has long since dried up. The "font du Roure" reminds us that, in Provençal, "font" means "source" and not fountain. And "roure" means “oak”. The "Grand Raille" is the river at the bottom of the valley, while the "Esserennes" designates a remote place (from the village) where there would be water.

Mentioned since 988, Rosans and its church of Saint-Arey certainly look different today, but their antiquity is real. To the west of the village is the Oche district, which is a Gallic name for a cleared area on the outskirts of the village. A "large meadow" and an "orchard", to the west and east show what type of agricultural valuation existed in the Middle Ages. To the east of the village, the clayey hillock of Saint Esteve seems to indicate Saint-Etienne, a long-forgotten church.

The Serre de l'Aigle path offers beautiful views of the Eygues forest and the village of Rosans. From there, a splendid  panorama on the Rosanais valley is revealed, delimited by the Charrancs mountain in the East.

Colonized by the Romans in 118 BC., Provence was divided into cities. For the Baronnies, Vaison and Luc-en-Diois were the two capitals of the Voconces city which dominated the region. Within these, there were divisions called "pagus" (lands). This latin term lasted for a long time and, in 988, a donation charter to the abbey of Cluny of Saint-André de Rosans, evoked the "Pagus Rosanensis". Some names of places were already mentioned, such as Rosans, Chapaïsses, Sironne or Roussieux.

On this side of the Serre de l'Aigle exposed to the adret, the forest is held back by an ovine pasture allowing to keep open environments. The fence along the trail testifies that the herds of sheep that graze in this moor are not here in summer, but that the breeder probably leads them all year round, as long as there is grass: The challenge is that the animals feed well but that the grass resource also persists.

The public forest of Eygues stretches on a zone of about 20,95 km² and the major part of it’s territory is in Le Rosanais. At the south of this forest, there is a protected area (ZNIEFF zone – Zone of Interest for Ecology, Flora and Fauna –). Thorny trees are a specific feature of this natural habitat. Black grouses, Le Sélin à feuilles de silaus – a particular type of flower you can only see in the Alps – and Irish fleabane, are determining species protected at a national level.

Set on the outdoor terrace with views of the Baronnies Provençales, or in the privacy of the vaulted room, you will enjoy a cuisine based on local products at the campsite restaurant (in the evening on reservation). On Rosans' village place, Noëlle & Laurent are happy to welcome you in their restaurant Ô Fourchat. You can drink, have breakfast, have dinner inside or outside on the shady terrace with a view on the Fourchat summit.

La Boule d'Or restaurant welcomes you at the foot of the medieval village of Rosans, on the Nyons-Serres road. Meals are served either in a beautiful vaulted dining room or on the terrace.

The campsite des Rosières offers a snackbar-pizzeria on a terrace in the shade in front of the swimming pool.

Located in one of the striking landscapes of the Drôme Provençale region, at the heart of a medieval village in the Baronnies region, the "Auberge de la Clavelière" welcomes you in a solid 200 years old stone house. For 40 years, our family has cultivated a soothing atmosphere in an exceptional setting where you can breathe in the lavender and happiness that surround our Auberge.

Indoors in the vaulted dining room or on the terrace, we offer simple family cuisine mixing dishes of the terroir cooked with local aromatic herbs and spices from further afield. The holiday village is closed because it is undergoing a major renovation and revitalisation project. The aim is to offer facilities that meet the new expectations of holidaymakers while integrating environmental needs and regional tourism.
