Turn right and join the road junction at the entrance of the village (Calvary). Turn left to pass the school then, at the height of the village hall, climb to the right three stone steps and follow the path undergrowth (local PR, markings green lines). Continue the path at the foot of the cliff and continue on a gentle slope in the woods. At the first obvious intersection, turn right, go up a rocky section and join the D48. Take the left on 150 m (caution!). 1- At the height of a large field, go left on the dirt road (local PR, green lines marking). Go up to the plateau of La Gardette. 2- At the Y, turn right and continue the path. Straight ahead get on the path (green lines). Cross a very heavily paved section and then switch to a slight descent on the side of the plateau. Further down, follow the path on the left (green lines). Climb a jump and reach a crossroads. 3- Turn right and then left (green lines). Get higher on the D48. Cross it and take the path that climbs to the left (green lines). Reach a wide path. 4- Turn right on the path (PR) and join the D48 (post "Chemin de la Française"). Take on the left the D48 on 560 m. At the end of a bend (caution!), Turn left on the small Fondons car park. 5- Go to the bottom of the car park on the stony path (PR). Cross a rocky section, continue straight, pass between two lavender fields and reach a crossroads of trails (post "Le Colombier", iron cross). 6- Turn right (GR® and GRP®), slip under the hedge of trees and brambles and reach a road. Turn 20 m to the right and continue the stony path that starts on the left edge of the road (GR® and GRP®). Take the tormented path down to the road and follow it 130 m on the left. 7- At the stop, turn left and follow the D48 towards Saignon. 280 m further down the first path (GR® and GRP®). At the bottom, take the D48 again for 30 m and take the path on the left (GR® and GRP®). Go straight Exit on the D48, go down 60 m on the left and then go down on the right the concrete road that leads to the entrance of the village of Saignon (GR® and GRP®).

A stroll in the shape of a large 8, to be wandered as of the age of 8 years and up to 88 years, on a 8-speed mountain bike! From the car park at the northern entrance of the village, go right on D113 and turn left. Outside the town hall, turn right and climb the steep narrow road. Pass a hairpin turn and reach the plateau. In front of the Sainte-Marie chapel adjoining the cemetery, continue on the track to the right (GR®)). After a large field, take a quick left and hurtle down the slope to the farm of Jas (be careful)!). Turn left along the small road, go through the farm and continue for 300m. 1 - At the crossroads ''Petit Auron'', follow the road to the left, cross the bridge and turn left on the path that accesses the Château de l'Environnement. When arriving at the first buildings, turn right and walk the dirt road. At the next intersection (cross), continue straight on the shaded path. Continue the Chemin des Escoufines until Buoux by going around the hill. 2 - Coming out on the D113, take the road across over 30m and at the corner of the inn, go down the path to the right. Come out on the D113 (traffic!), cross the bridge and go left until the hamlet of Deyme. Continue on the dirt road, then rise slowly towards the plateau. 3 - At the crossroads ''Les Ramades'', continue straight first, and after a round trip of 300m, it's possible to reach the beautiful view of the cliff edge. Pass along the truffle fields, turn left in front of a house and 200m further, take the right track. At the crossroads ''Chante Duc'', turn left, hurtle down the 3 hairpin turns of the small road and reach Buoux nestled a little lower.

Colorful treasure in bloom and bead stripped out of season Exit the car park to the east and take the Marrenon covered road to the south. 80 m further ('' Barbe Blanche '' post), turn left onto the undergrowth path (follow the GRP® markings towards '' Sivergues ''). After a stony area, you get to an intersection. 1- Leave the GRP® down in front and turn twice to the left. Follow a dirt road to the north-east (not marked). Pass a bend and, at the first crossroads, turn left onto a path along the fields. A little further, continue to the right. You arrive on a track and take it to the left. Go 45 m further on the D232 and join the stop just to the right. 2- Leave on the path in the undergrowth to the right of the stop. Proceed to a crossroads and continue on the left. Walk along the lavender field and rush a few meters into the undergrowth Go left then continue right to reach the D114 Follow it for 350 m, then turn left on the Sivergues path (sign). Take this dirt road until you cross a road. Turn right and take this little road. 3- At the first crossing, turn right (GRP®) then 350 m further, in a bend (garbage container), continue in front on a dirt road and reach a crossroads of trails (post '' Le Colombier '', cross iron ). 4- Follow the path straight ahead (PR), pass between two fields of lavender and continue straight ahead. You arrived on a small parking ("Les Fondons” post). Go left, take the D48 for 30 m and continue on the dirt road opposite (not marked). At the first crossroads, go down opposite and come back on the D48. Take it straight ahead for 500 m. 5- At the end of the straight line, turn on the left road and 120 m further, turn right on a path undergrowth (GR® and GRP®). Follow this path to torment, pass a very stony section and come back on the road. Take it 20m to the right and sneak onto the path on the left Go under the hedge of trees and brambles, to return to point 4 (post "Le Colombier", iron cross). 4- Turn right and follow the path to go one way (GRP®), then follow the road also to the first point 3 (road crossing). 3- turn right and advance another 100 m. Turn left and follow the dirt road (GRP®). Pass along a field of lavender and continue straight into the undergrowth. Drive on the D232, cross it (caution!) And continue the path opposite. Always go straight, pass near a big borie and reach the D114 (GRP®). 6- At the "Vouliou" pole, turn right and take the D114 for 300 m (GRP®). At the "Plaine Lambertes" post, turn left and rush on the narrow and stony path undergrowth (GRP®). Reach a track and turn left to return to the starting car park.

A colourful route! With exceptional landscapes, ochre sites, underground or open-air quarries and colourful villages. Across of the pharmacy, go right to reach below the small roundabout and turn left towards Lombards. Calmly climb to reach a crossing. At the stop sign, turn right and follow the route"The Ochres by bike". Reach the Mines of Bruoux. Then continue to the hamlet of Lombards. Exit through the right and get to the crossroads. 1 - Take a sharp right and at the corner of the campsite, turn left. Come out on the D227 and take a left for 2km. At the crossing with the D4, continue across on the D227 towards Roussillon. Climb two hairpin bends, take two lefts and enter the village streets. Go around a blockand reach to the left foot the ramp leading to the ochre trail. 2 – Go forward to La Burlière avenue (D105), pass a speed bump and at the next junction, go left. Reach a roundabout and continue left towards Apt. Reach another speed bump and at the Y junction, continue straight on the D104 towards Apt. Get to the Conservatoire of Ochres. 3 – Follow the D104, glide through the curves and at the straight line, look out for the small road to the left. Follow it and reach the D4. Cross with the utmost caution and take the small road across, leading to Lombards. Enter a residential area and reach the crossroads you didn't pass on your way going (point 1). 1 – Turn right and return to Gargas by the same route as the one used to go.

Short stroll through a massif classified as a sensitive natural area, rich in species rare and discreet. Once on the small bucolic car park of La Bruyère, pass behind the information panel on the ENS (sensitive natural area) and take the path going slightly left. At the first intersection, turn right and climb gently through the trail (GR). Continue to the top of the hill. Leave a track to the right and reach the crossroads ''Trou des Américains'' (sign-post). 1 - Take a sharp right on the path that winds in the heather and reach the water hole (interpretation panels). Continue beyond the copper red path. Don't miss the path below going to the right. Continue straight downhill. Directly below the road, head left then come out to the right on the pavement. 2 Take the road to the right, let the PR to the left and continue straight. Pass the entrance of the holiday center and climb the right track to return to the starting point.

The magical trilogy! Aiguebrun, the plateau of Claparèdes and picturesque villages. The soul of Luberon... Go right on the D113 and turn left. Outside the town hall, go straight. At the corner of the inn, go down to the left. Come out on the D113 (traffic!), cross the bridge and go left until the hamlet of Deyme. Continue on the dirt road, then rise slowly towards the plateau. 1 - At the crossroads"Les Ramades'', turn right and descend to the cliff edge. Continue left on the trail that winds over the void. Further down, turn right and descend the hairpin bends"Chemin dei frau", formerly in cobblestone (careful, the GR® cuts the 1st turn). At the bottom of the hairpin bends, take a right. At the next intersection, turn left, cross the bridge and go up across. 2 - At the crossroads"Aiguebrun'', turn left, then 30m further, turn left towards"Sivergues''. After a succession of steep paths and small descents, spot on a flat stone the sign"Sivergues''. Leave the banks of the Aiguebrun and rise gradually. Continue on the rocky path until the town of Sivergues. 3 - Climb the cobblestone across. Turn left and reach the entrance of the village. At the car park, take a left onto the Chantebelle track and at the 1st turn, continue straight on the path. Skip two corners and continue down the gravel path. Pass a cobblestone section and reach to the valley bottom. Go to the right, cross the ford of Aiguebrun and go up the opposite bank. Pass a cobblestone section and continue across on the rocky path. Pass a corner on the left then turn right at the next intersection. Go up the trail that weaves through the horse paddock. Reach the plateau and continue across on the shaded path that passes between old walls. 4 - At the crossroads"Barbe Blanche", turn left and take the small road through the Claparèdes plateau. At the crossroads"Chante Duc", continue straight, hurtle down 3 hairpin bends and continue to Buoux.

Far from the well-known areas, a summary of natural wonders and rural heritage, between ochres, cultures, oak groves and scrublands. Opposite the town hall, turn right towards Rustrel. When at the village hall, dive right onto a path that goes into the housing estate boundary (fence). Turn left onthe road, cross La Riaille and at the intersection ''Clastre'', continue straight. 500m further, take the left path (GR®) entering the classified massive and an ?environmentally sensitive area (ESA). Pass two corners and rise to the left at the top of the hill. 1 - At the crossroads"Trou des Américains" visit the pond 100m to the right and back to point 1. Continue on the right trail (GR®and travel through all the ochre massif. Coming out on the road ''La Glaurivette'', cross the D214. 2 - Take the opposite track (RP), then cross the D179. Advance on 80m on the path of Fumeirasse and turn left. At the bottom, turn right and go slowly straight tothe crossroads"Fumeirasse''. Continue the path completely to the left and reach a crossing (point 429). 3 - Go straight until the chapel and go back to point 3. There, ride up the steep path and continue on it. At the top of the second steep path, turn right. Reach to a track. Go up on the right on 650m. Do not miss to the left the road which descends slightly (local RP, green markings). 4 - In a right turn (cairn)Go across and go straight at the first intersection (cairn). Slowly descend on 700m and turn right on a path that winds through the scrubland (green markings). After two turns, cross the ravine, up to the junction with another path. 5 - Go down the road for 15m and take the first road to the left. Go straight and turn left to reach the D179 below. Cross the road, pass the Hameau des Marchands, go along the recreation centre and reach the D214. Continue straight through the protected pedestrian crossing. At the crossroads"Saint-Joseph'', climb the ramp to the right (no entry sign) and take the second right to return to the centre of Villars.

A classic, as sporty as bucolic! The height differences can be felt but the climb is unreal and the panoramas of the ridges are mindblowing Leave the car park and climb right on the paved road (PR). Pass a house and continue climbing on a rocky path. Pass the edge and at the 1st crossing (point 685), turn left (PR). Take the nice balcony path and pass the edges by a succession of uphills and downhills. Continue left in the third valley (PR) and do not go right to the valley of the Trois Eves. 1- At the crossroads "Marauvière", turn right, pass two hairpin bends and continue the ascent. Reaching a vague pass, continue straight and follow the road on the hillside. Exit the forest and lead to the track on the ridges. Turn left and go down 200m. 2- At the "Basse de Cabrière" climb the bump to the right (GR® marking barely visible). Switch, reach the DFCI track and go across to reach the foot of the top bump. 3- At the tank, climb the path that climbs on the north side of the summit and reach the Mourre Nègre. Go around the top (panorama) leaving the antennas on your right hand. Pass under the power line, and head northwest on the path through the summit field. Dive into the undergrowth and reach the DFCI track below. 4- At the track, do not dive in front into the Font Jean de Martin valley (steep and rocky), but turn left and take an immediate parallel path to the right. Rise slightly, pass the small sheepfold of the Jas de Brémond and a few meters below (sign-post), turn right. Start heading down following the edge, then dive to the left into the valley of Roumi (PR). Cut three times the forest track and follow the very craggy trail in certain places (cairns). Falling a fourth time on the track, follow it to the right. 5- At the exit of the first curve, turn right on the trail (PR). Go down, pass three curves and finish with a long cobblestone path section. Turn right to reach the car park.

Starting at the hilltop village of Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt, a great trip on the Sentier des Aiguiers, the top of Mount Cluyer and the ruins of Travignon. Back turned to the ''Information Point", next to the post office and pharmacy, go left then right onto the Rue Victor Hugo on 50m. Begin to the left on the Rue de la Combe and take a quick left under the puppet. Climb the cobblestone to the mill. Go up the path to the right on the edge of the plateau. Then take a right, cross the dam, pass through the castrum and turn left into the castle. Bypass the chapel on the left. 1 - At the crossroads, go straight across. Continue to the right and climb to the Chemin des Gavaniols. Continue straight. Leave several roads to your left and right leading to houses. Pass a sloping ledge and reach the Aiguiers Bessons. 2 - Rise to the right onto the path. At the 1st (new alternative route) then 2nd crossing, continue on the path in front. Leave a track going to the right and reach the rocky ledge. Climb the East ridge (markings barely visible), reach a small covered aiguier (Provençal underground water tank) and continue right to the Mount Cluyer dome. Pass the viewpoint and reach the summit plateau (milestone). 3 - Descend the trail due north, continue on the path under the pines and come out on La Liguière track. Follow the track for 150m and at the Y-like crossroad, continue left on the Chemin de la cassette (private pathway!). Bypass the farm to the right (gate) and reach the track below. Turn right (GR®) and after the aiguiers of Gayeoux, turn right. Go down 400m and leave a path to the left. 4 - Take a sharp left (milestone). Climb the small mountain pass of Travignon and switch to the aiguiers upstream the hamlet. Descend to the right on the rocky path, then turn left. Go through the ruins of Travignon, take a sharp right at the exit of the hamlet and immediately a left to go down the winding paths of the old mule track. 5 - Take a sharp left and immediately right (GR®). Hurtle down the trail which is very craggy down below. Continue at the valley bottom. Skip the narrow pass of the Rocher de la Cadière. At the crossroads "Puits du Geay", go straight. Pass the narrow gully of the Portes de Castor and go straight. 6 - look to the right for the 1st orchard along the track. Turn right, go up 100m along the field and climb the trail to the Bois du Defens. At the path, go across, descend and coming out of the scrubland, turn right. Go up the Rue de Fontaine de Guby to the right. Reach the Chemin de Romanet then the Cours de la Liberté to the left to go back to the village center.

Technically affordable but full of reminders, it's quite physical. But what a treat! Exit Rustrel following the GR® and the GTV®. Cross the D22 and at the crossroads ''Cornet'', turn left. Go along the former car park of Colorado and reach the start of the DFCI track. 1 - Turn right, cross the ford on La Doua, then rise by the track. Pass two winding paths and at the crossroads ''Barriès'', turn left on a rocky path. Cross a sandy narrow gully and continue straight. Come out on the paved track and reach further onto a road. Turn right and climb to the pass. 2 - Leave the GR® behind and the GTV® to the left and continue straight. Glide and go straight to the crossroads"Pradenques'' and"Ubac de Pradenques'', then climb to the plateau. Follow to the right the 1st track (RP). At the 2nd crossing, turn right on the path. After a ledge, turn right and then immediately left to reach the edge of the plateau. Then, go along a big field and reach the"Croix de Christol''. 3 - Take a left and 50m further, turn right. Continue straight on the trail, and then down the slope to the road. Follow it to the right, cross the hamlet of Haute-Blace and continue for 1.5km. At the exit of left turn, turn right and go down to La Doua. At the bottom, turn right, cross the D22 with caution andturn left on the track at the entrance of Jean-Jean. At the next crossroads continue straight. Above, follow the small road to the small mountain pass of Trécassats (marking"The Ochres by bike"). 4 - Take on the right, the coloured trail parallel to the path (GTV® marking), then climb right to the top of La Bruyère (interpretation panels). At the crossroads ''Trou des Américains'', follow to the right the GR® and thus through all the ochre massif. Coming out on the road ''La Glaurivette'', follow the D214 to the right and 550m further turn left, cross the hamlet of Viaux, cross the D179 and climb a gravel path. 5 - Go down the road for 400m and take the first road to the left. Go up gently, turn right on the ledge and then embark on a beautiful rocky single track that falls between oaks and scrubs. Lower down, after a last turn, follow the opposite path along the foot of the massive and return quietly to Rustrel.

The strategic situation of observation and defense make Saignon a privileged place of group occupation from the Iron Age (-750 years to -125 years). In Antiquity, with the arrival of the Romans (124 av. JC), Saignon is organized around Apta Julia, Via Domitia and large surrounding farms. At the fall of the Roman Empire (in 476), the feudal society was structured around the Castra (fortified castle) of Saignon and enriched with neighboring religious monuments (St. Eusebius, St. Savior, etc.).

This old rural road was brought to light in the 1970s by François and Claude Morenas, tireless pioneers of itineraries. In the 2000s, it was the Park with the help of the department that worked to safeguard it against the real estate pressure. Today it is perennial, registered in the Departmental Plan of Walk and Hiking, it benefits from the maintenance and tagging action of the Vaucluse department, but also by the supervision of volunteers, walkers or mountain bikers.

In the Miocene, 20 million years ago, the sea transgresses and covers Provence. We can now visualize its arrival in the geological layers. A first layer of green sands, corresponds to the old coastline. Glauconite, a mineral rich in iron giving this green tint, is formed in shallow waters. These sands are surmounted by a conglomerate of pebbles, sometimes green as well, carried by the arrival of the sea. Above, once the sea settled, a sedimentary rock settled: the molasse.

The molasse is a rock: a sandstone limestone biodetitic (which contains grains of sand and also a lot of various fossil debris). This yellowish sedimentary rock settled in the sea, around the Luberon which formed then an island or a shoal. It keeps track of the deposition conditions in agitated environment, in the form of channels and oblique stratifications. Resistant to erosion, it forms vast plateaus like that of Claparèdes!

The name Claparèdes comes from "clapas" which means "pile of rocks" in Provençal. Many dry stone huts are on this plateau which goes from Castellet to Lacoste on about 10km. An old cereal land, the cultivation of lavender is now the most widespread on the plateau.

Many bories and low walls are present on this part of the plateau which extends between Saignon and Auribeau. La Gardette, former cereal land, is now heavily invaded by woods.

The shepherds have probably built the single-celled huts and the peasants the bories of larger dimensions. It seems accepted that most of these constructions were built between the eighteenth and nineteenth century. A borie is an original construction by the unique use of stone and its technique of assembly. The covering or the vault is called corbelled; it is a technique that consists of laying the stones in sitting with passing from the top row to the bottom.

The aspic lavender (Lavandula latifolia), with broad whitish leaves, is a plant of the Mediterranean levels.. The fine lavender (Lavandula Angustifolia) with narrow leaves, is is more mountainous (up to 1500 m altitude). It is usually the lavandin, a hybrid of the two and more productive, that is observed on the plateau of Claparèdes (do not pick!).

Dedicated to a traditional agro-sylvo-pastoral system, the Claparèdes plateau is divided between forests, lawns and dry crops, but also groves surrounded by hedges of old trees, including almond trees and mulberries, witnesses of a past culture. The interface and transition zones between all these ecosystems (ecotonal zones) are very favorable to a diversified fauna: birds such as the lark lulu and the sparrow zizi, but also reptiles such as the grass snake, the worm and the ocellated lizard.

The mistletoe (Viscum album album) is a parasitic plant that lives at the expense of a host tree, as here an almond tree. Its toxicity is linked to the presence of proteins. Ingestion may cause diarrhea and abdominal pain. But mistletoe, blessed with extraordinary virtues in ancient and Germanic mythology, was famous until the nineteenth century to cure epilepsy. Today, his preparations find an indication in hypertonia, hypotension, arteriosclerosis.
