Seafront Promenade

A route accessible to everyone. From the Port Parking, head to the far right of the parking lot to access the docks via a ramp. If you're walking, you can also reach the docks directly via the stairs.   The first part of this walk takes you along the Vasco de Gama, Christophe Colomb, and Jacques Cartier docks. Among the boats moored at the port, take the time to notice the Catalan boats, which are a source of pride for sea lovers.  As you stroll between the shops and the docks, you will also discover businesses offering sea outings. It's a great opportunity to come back and explore the beautiful marine life of the Côte Vermeille (boat tours, scuba diving, fishing—take your pick). More info here.   Be sure to stop at the end of the dock to see the fishermen, who will be happy to offer you their fresh catch of the day.   Exiting the port, cross the Massane River via the metal bridge that leads you to the seafront.   After a few dozen meters, you will pass through a shared promenade area. Pedestrians stay on the paved walkway, while cyclists use the dirt path on the left. Please respect these guidelines for the best experience.   The promenade then allows you to enjoy a 1.5 km walk with views of the seafront on your right, and on the left, the Argeles Photo Nature exhibition. Each year, a new theme is featured. In 2020, the exhibition is called "Bears and Co."   Continue your stroll leisurely until you reach the Charles Trenet esplanade. Fountains will help you cool off and will delight children. On your left, the houses give way to the beachside shops, bars, and restaurants.   Further along, you will find a play area for children (payable) and an adult area (Casino) before finishing the walk on the cobbled streets. If you wish, you can also continue walking under the pine trees ahead of you, all the way to the Camping le Roussillonais. However, this path may be more difficult for people with limited mobility due to the sandy surface.   For the return, retrace your steps while respecting the distancing zones between cyclists and pedestrians.

(E 12-Sentier Littoral/guide 2022) Mas Larrieu Nature Reserve - The Racou

An ideal walk to do with the family. From the Luna Park parking lot, you have two options.First option: Head north, cross the Equinoxe campsite, ford the stream, and you will find access to the Mas Larrieu nature reserve. The Argelès-sur-Mer tourist office offers guided walks. Additionally, information panels on the dune discovery trail are accessible year-round, explaining the management, history, flora, and fauna of this protected coastal site. To join the coastal path, simply follow the shore southward. Cross the mouth of the Riberette River and continue towards Argelès beach. Second option: Head to your right towards Argelès-sur-Mer. Leave the road to walk along the leisure park and the Riberette on your left, which flows into the sea a bit further on. A first ford allows you to cross a ditch. Follow the path briefly winding through the undergrowth, where a second reed-lined ford awaits you. Once out of the shade, take the road to the right, then head to the beach on your left, passing along the Marende parking lot. Now, continue to the right with your feet in the sand. Be mindful of the vegetation growing here and there, as it helps to maintain the beach! In the depression known as "Tamariguer," take the walk under the pine trees. Dotted with signs describing notable sites, it will naturally lead you to the port. Cross the Massane River via the bridge, and take the left along the quays, welcoming fishermen and boaters. Leave the quays via the stairs leading to the parking lot before the port's technical area. Follow the bike path towards "Le Racou." This path will lead you to a trail that skirts the Racou wetland on the left. You can stop at the beach to observe this wetland area, along with its developing flora and fauna. This part of the trail ends at the Racou parking lot.
