Bordering the peat bogs, this route takes you to unique places where sphagnum moss and drosera grow.

Calvary, age-old beech trees, steep path and rock climbing follow one another. This is a walk for grown-ups. In the past, farmers in the Montagne Bourbonnaise came together to form communities. Harvests were shared for the benefit of all, according to certain rules.

The secret Barbenan valley, with its flower-filled hamlets, guides you in the footsteps of the glassmakers of yesteryear. The master glassmakers found refuge on the Verrerie plateau. With the presence of wood, ferns and sand, they were able to carry out their activity. Today, only a few furnace remains bear witness to their presence.

Trail no. 3 (Uni'Vert Trail label from the Fédération Française d'Athlétisme), 2.8 km, starting from Saint-Nicolas-des-Biefs. This short trail, totally suitable for beginners, starts below Saint-Nicolas-des-Biefs, the highest village in the Allier department. This route for experienced runners starts in the villages of Saint-Clément, Saint-Nicolas-des-Biefs or Châtel-Montagne. Explore many of the Montagne Bourbonnaise's remarkable sites along the way, including the Saint-Clément lake, the Verrerie plateau with its heather fields and superb panoramic views over the Roannais region.

The team at the lake offers water sports activities. Stand-up paddle (we do not give lessons). We provide all equipment and safety instructions.
