This 46-kilometre loop is designed for walkers wishing to discover the vineyards and heritage of Saint-Emilion over 1 or 2 days. The 1st part, to the south near Sainte-Terre, is easy and offers fine views over the Dordogne. From St Pey-d'Armens, you can reach Saint-Emilion via Saint-Hippolyte and Saint-Laurent-des-Combes (30 km loop). The 2nd part, north towards Montagne, is more undulating (a long climb of 10% from Château de Pressac). It offers panoramic views of the vineyards and monuments to discover.

This hilly route crosses the wine appellation Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux and offers magnificent scenic views over the vineyards.

This bike ride is for cyclists who would like to meet passionate winemakers. From the limestone plateau to the Barbanne valley, take narrow roads and cycle in the middle of the vineyards, away from all traffic.

This easy, breathtaking loop takes you through some of the Juridiction's finest estates. After the iconic Cité, the small roads take you to Château Haut-Sarpe, one of the oldest wine estates, and Château Faugère, where you can appreciate the modernist winery, built into the hillside by architect Mario Botta. There are plenty of opportunities to stop and appreciate the landscape of hillsides and vineyards that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

If you'd like to cycle from Saint-Emilion to Bordeaux, or vice versa, you can do so on the former railway line, which has been converted into a cycle path and named the Roger Lapébie Trail after the winner of the Tour de France in 1937. The 49km route has one main difficulty, a 4km climb between Branne and Guillac. (n°11-12).

By letters patent dated June 7, 1289, Edward I, King of England and of Aquitaine fixed the boundary between Saint- Emilion and Pomerol at the « Tailhayhat » stream, from which the château gets its name. Purchased in 1932 by Philippe Nebout, the estate has been run by a company created by the Nebout heirs since 1981. Luc is the current winemaker and belongs to the 3rd Nebout generation at Tailhas. The Château du Tailhas vineyard covers 11 hectares in a single unit located on the southern slopes of the Pomerol plateau, bordering on the commune of Saint-Emilion to the east. It is therefore contiguous to the grands crus of that appellation, in the Figeac region. The siliceous soil mixed with fine gravel lies over a subsoil rich in sandstone with iron deposits (« crasse de fer »). Planted with Merlot (80%), Cabernet- Franc (10%) and Cabernet- Sauvignon (10%).

In Pomerol, Château Beauregard is a flagship from the smallest appellation of the great wines of Bordeaux. A Gironde charterhouse in bloom awaits you in the north-east of the village near Libourne. Created in the 11th century by the Knights of Malta, the Château was reborn in the 1990s after being bought by private investors. Come and share this new impetus in a property with refined charm. Renovation of the vineyard and cellars, plantations, soil drainage: the rehabilitation of Château Beauregard is now bearing fruit. At maturity, the grapes are picked by hand and stored in small 30 kilo crates to respect the integrity of each berry. The moment of tasting is a sweet privilege in front of the lotus flowers and water lilies that dress the moat of Château Beauregard.

The Château d'Aiguilhe, a real fortified farm, dates from the 13th century. In the Middle Ages, the lordship of Aiguilhe commanded a vast territory, possessing several important fiefs, and played an active military role during the Hundred Years War Château d'Aiguilhe is one of the oldest vineyards in Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux. Today, the estate has a vast terroir of 140 hectares, 90 of which are dedicated to viticulture. Do not hesitate to visit the estate to discover its history and its wines.. Le Clos Bernon is located in the old quarters of the city of Libourne, a stone's throw from the Condat chapel, the nature reserve and the vineyards. For your stay, we offer three guest rooms on the first floor of the house. The Coco suite is composed of a room equipped with a bed 160, a shower room and a toilet open on the private living room of the suite (sofa bed). The Angel room has a bed 160, a bathroom open on the room and a separate toilet. The Giorgio room has a double bed, a bathroom with shower and bathtub and a separate toilet; it also has an independent access through an external staircase. Each room is equipped with a television. Breakfast is served in the dining room or outside depending on the season.

In the “Pierrefitte” locality (“stone driven into the ground” in Latin or “fixed stone” in Gascon) – a 5.20 metre-high standing stone, around which the summer solstice is celebrated every June.

40km east of Bordeaux, Saint Emilion is an architectural gem set against a backdrop of vineyards, of internationally renowned wines. The town was created around the cave where Saint Emilion, a Breton hermit who withdrew from society in the 8th century, lived, in a cave carved into the limestone cliff. The city has many listed monuments including the collegiate church, Doyenne cloister, the monolithic church hollow into the rock, Roy Tower. It has steep streets called tertres and escalettes. Since 1999, the Jurisdiction of Saint Emilion has been listed on the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites as a “cultural landscape”.

Saint-Laurent-des-Combes has an interesting church overlooking the valley. The 12th-century Romanesque church was restored in the 19th century. Its façade now features a gable wall topped by a stone Latin cross. The building has a flat tile roof. The church of Saint-Laurent-des-Combes still has an interesting baptismal font.

During the 12th and 13th centuries, the city of Saint-Émilion was endowed with an imposing system of enclosure of about two kilometres in length composed of numerous fencing elements: cre'neaux, hourds, ma^chicoulis, a parapet walk and six medieval gates. To the east of the city, the Porte Brunet, almost intact, is the best preserved of all.

The ramparts of Saint-Emilion were commissioned by England in the 12th century to protect the prosperous village of Saint-Emilion. This fortification wall can also be seen as a ceremonial and prestigious wall, the primary purpose of which would have been to show off the village's power rather than to protect it. In any case, it must have been necessary to pay a tax to enter the village within its walls, representing a new source of wealth. The inhabitants began by digging deep ditches all around the village themselves. Using the stones they dug out, they built a surrounding wall covering more than 18 hectares and running for around 1.5 km around the village. This wall was probably flanked by seven gates and small defensive towers, and a sentry walk linked the gates together.

The Franciscan friars arrived in the 13th century and founded their second convent under the ramparts in the 14th century. Today, this magnificent vestige is a haven of peace and relaxation where you can enjoy a glass of Crémant de Bordeaux.

Saint-Emilion 1er Grand Cru Classé A. One of the most prestigious estates in Saint-Emilion. Its name comes from the Roman poet and consul Ausonius (4th century AD), who was already praising the wines of Saint-Emilion in his day. Private property closed to the public.

This pretty building is the only timber-framed house in the village and has a facade dating from the 16th century and foundations dating from much earlier than this period. The Porte de la Cade`ne, the only interior door of the town, could take its name either from the Gascony word cadena, meaning "chai^ne", or from one of the owners of the house, Guillaume Renaud de la Cade`ne, who lived there in the 13th century. This door would have made it possible to socially adorn the noble population of the upper town and the more modest population of the lower town, thanks to a wine storehouse of which no trace remains today on the building.

Close to the market square, a covered part of the market was used mainly for warehousing and grain trading. The large arches were closed with wooden boards to protect the goods. On the first floor, the building housed the town hall from the 18th century until 1902.
