Church of Saint-Martin de Montagne

Very little is known about the history of this building. It is mentioned in the 1398 list of parishes in the diocese. Its history became clearer in the 16th century. In 1569, the archbishopric proclaimed the union of the church of Saint-Martin de Montagne with the deanery of Saint-Emilion. The church has a Latin cross plan, typical of the 12th century. The single nave, which was covered with vaulting in the 19th century, continues to the east with a wide, projecting transept, which was itself vaulted in the Romanesque period. This part of the church is unusual in that it has three types of vault: a cupola on the north arm, a ribbed cupola on the square of the transept and a pointed barrel vault on the south arm. This monument is listed as a Historic Monument.

Château des Laurets

Château des Laurets originally comprised a vast 40-hectare vineyard. The estate was enlarged in 1842 with the acquisition of the land surrounding the ruins of Château de Malengin, located high up in the Barbanne Valley. In 1860, the owners of the time built a beautiful Napoleon III-style building, giving the estate a special charm. Today, the estate covers 90 hectares of south-facing land in a single block, straddling two appellations: Puisseguin-Saint-Emilion and Montagne-Saint-Emilion. Baron Benjamin de Rothschild bought the estate in 2003. In 2004, he renovated the vat room and all the facilities.

Romanesque church of Saint-Georges

The first mention of the church dates back to 1110, when it was donated to the collegiate church of Saint-Emilion by Archbishop Arnaud Guiraud. The church is a small building with a single nave and a monumental entrance on its southern flank. The nave opens onto a transept with two oriented apses. A large, somewhat atypical bell tower stands on the north arm of the transept.

Château Saint-Georges

Château Saint Georges has belonged to the Desbois family since 1891, and enjoys an exceptional panoramic view over the surrounding hillsides of St Emilion. The 4 towers tell the story of a feudal château, and the classical-style façade is the work of the famous architect Victor Louis, who also built the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux. Château St Georges is a 45-hectare family wine estate. A playful approach to discovering the world of wine is offered: from the discovery of the garden to aromatic herbs, red and black fruits, aromas to the different stages of wine-making, the secrets of wine will be revealed to you. A tour of the cellar with blind tasting of 2 vintages is included in the visit, and a fruit juice is provided for children. By appointment; reservations: 05 57 74 79 70 or 05 57 74 62 11

Château Soutard

The first traces of Château Soutard date back to 1513 with the mention of the bourdieu de Mayne de Soutard. Jean Couture, Jurat de Saint-Emilion, bought the property in 1699. His daughter Marie built the Château in 1741. Soutard's vocation as a winegrower really took off under Jean Combret de Faurie, Marie Couture's son. He devoted himself entirely to working the vines. Soutard became one of the first châteaux to have vines planted in rows. Passed on to Michel des Ligneris in 1919, Château Soutard was run by his descendants for almost a century. In 2006, AG2R La Mondiale purchased Château Soutard. Visits by appointment: 05.57.24.32.36
