It has for object the professional training of the professions by the book, in all their practical and theoretical aspects. Its purpose was to mitigate the sub-qualification in this infant industry. Paris was considered as the capital of the printing office and as an important example of the public politics of professional training at the beginning of the IIIth Republic. By creating this school, the City Council of Paris provoked a general outcry in the autonomous and corporate environment that was the book-related industry.
