Discover TDF ALLEVARD in Allevard, Isère, Rhône-Alpes

This route will lead you from the former snow stadium of Val Pelouse (1720 m) to the buddhist centre of Saint-Hugon (778 m). This route has a descending profile (1933) but does possess 1013m of total ascent.

This walking path is accessible during the whole year, starting at Lake Saint-Clair. It will lead you on the traces of the ancient Roman routes. A not very difficult walk, but long if you do it entirely, you have several opportunities to go back.

A walk around Lac Saint Clair, a small natural lake surrounded by an outstanding wetland area. It is now set up as a leisure area, with boardwalks and bridges dotting the trail. Lac Saint Clair is a place to relax. A former glacial lake, it was "exploited" as early as the 12th century by the Carthusian monks of Saint Hugon, as a fishpond. Today, the lake is the scene of numerous summer events, including the lake festival, the bicycle festival and fishing competitions. In summer, the lake features a mini-golf course, a restaurant and a paddling pool for children.

Family walk to discover the high mountain pastures of Val Pelouse. You will reach the Chalet of La Perrière at half way. Superb view on the Mont-Blanc, the massif des Bauges, the Chartreuse and the Vercors.

This walk starts from Val Pelouse in the city of Arvillard. It will give you the opportunity to discover the pastures of Val Gelon, with great views on the neighbouring mountains, including an exceptional view on the Mont Blanc from the col de La Perrière.

Here's a little tour that offers a great adventure. Grab your bike and follow the River Gelon! With just a few easy pedal strokes, you'll discover the charming villages that have settled on these banks, where life is so pleasant. The Gelon will be your guide along the way, and you'll catch glimpses of it here and there. Its murmur will accompany you in your efforts, and when you cross it, its spray will bring you a pleasant coolness. It can get hot under the helmet! While you're exercising your muscles, don't forget to look up to admire the breathtaking view of the Arclusaz mountain, which rises above you at over two thousand metres. Cycling from village to village, from one side of the Gelon valley to the other, you'll alternate between flower-filled hamlets and rural settings. When you reach the commune of Betton-Betonnet, put your bike down to contemplate the Betton Abbey, founded in 1133. Positioned astride the Montraillon ridge and the Val Gelon, its location is surprising, to say the least. Keep your balance!

We are also trained to adapt our interventions to minimize handicap situations, and we have adapted equipment such as Joëlettes. La Tour d’Avalon - 33 metres high, with an internal diameter of around 8 metres and walls 2 metres thick on the first floor - bears witness to a medieval past. It was restored in 1895 by Carthusian monks in honor of Saint-Hugues d'Avalon, who was born here in 1140. The Tour d'Avalon bears witness to the history of an ancient fortified village and of a family of lords, present in the Haut Grésivaudan since the year 1000: the Wallon and Romestang d'Avalon. Part of the early 14th-century walls can still be seen in today's restored building, remnants of the Delphine tower erected at that time, when the château became a stronghold, complete with surrounding ramparts. In the 12th century, Guillaume III Romestang, seigneur du mandement d'Avalon, and his wife, Anna de Theys, occupied the ancestral stronghold (castrum), located a little to the north of the present tower, and already featuring a round tower. In 1132, the Romestang family was known as the "Poype family". In fact, they lived on a motte castrale, a mound of earth with a medieval defensive dwelling at its summit. We can still see the remains of a water ditch, the present-day marshland now classified as a Sensitive Natural Area (ENS), which also served as a fishpond.

Karma Ling is a Buddhist centre established within the former Chartreuse de Saint-Hugon. Today, it serves as both a spiritual centre and cultural activity hub (Institut Pleine Présence, Université du Darma, yoga etc.) In 1979, inspired by the prominent Tibetan master, Kyabjé Kalu Rinpoché, and Lama Denys Rinpoché, his oldest Western disciple, it found its spiritual vocation and took the name 'Karma Ling', the place of Buddhist practice and teachings. In 2000, the whole site was named Domaine de l'Avalon. It was comprised of 55 hectares of forest used as an educational eco-site, managed by Pierre Rabhi, the famous agro-biologist and humanist. The visit (lasting approx. 90 minutes) highlights the historical, cultural and spiritual importance of the site since the foundation of the Ordre des Chartreux in 1084 until the present day. The visit concludes with a friendly cup of tea. Guided tour of the estate: over the course of a 90 minute walk, you will learn about the outstanding natural environment of Avallon, its culture and history, from the time of the Pères Charteux to the present day. You can also get an insight into some of our activities on offer. Discovery weekend: over the course of a weekend, learn the basics of mindful meditation, discover a new way to live in the present moment, and learn more about how we function and how to fully experience our emotions. This weekends can also serve as a refresher for those who have already received meditation lessons or have already tried meditation. Discovery day: take the time to try mindfulness, discover Avallon's eco-site, as well as its cultural and historic wealth and its activities. You will share lunch with us, of which the first 20 minutes will be in silence. Continuous retreat: This retreat will allow you to come and meditate any time throughout the year. 365 days a year, join the programme for 1 hour, one day, a week, or more. In order to fully experience the joy of mindfulness, it is advised to follow the Continuous Retreat for at least 1 week.

Fort Barraux is one of the oldest and most prestigious defences in the Alps. A bastioned fortification created in the 16th century, it was subsequently modified, notably by Vauban in the 18th century. This type of architecture, which appeared in Italy in the early 16th century, is the successor to the traditional fortified castles. This can be explained by the evolution of firearms, and in particular cannons, which were becoming more and more efficient. A bastioned fortification is characterized by its star shape, bristling with bastions (pentagonal structures replacing the cylindrical corner towers of medieval times) and advanced works. Fort Barraux would be revised and improved over the centuries, especially during a major campaign of works ordered by Vauban (Louis XIV's famous military engineer) in 1692 and 1700. As a sentinel of the Grésivaudan, the fort's main function was to act as a deterrent. But it also served as a garrison and a warehouse for weapons and ammunition. It also served as a prison. Military, for enemy troops (German officers stayed there in 1917 and 18), but also civil, during the Second World War: from July 1940, it became a Centre de Séjour Surveillé, where black market traffickers, political prisoners, foreign men and women of Jewish origin on transfer to concentration camps were locked up...

The Tours de Montmayeur is a Medieval site containing the remains of a 12th-century motte-and-bailey castle. Its north-eastern tower rises over 20m above the ground. Other than numerous remains dug up by archaeological excavations, the keep, outer walls, 'aula' (lord's house), kitchen and church, the attraction of the Tours de Montmayeurs is its strategic location overlooking the Combe de Savoie, offering visitors a 360° panorama over Les Bauges, the Massif de Belledonne and Chartreuse. The magical setting of this outstanding site will enchant children and adults alike.

Wines from the oldest vines in the Savoie are going organic: unexpectedly echoing the past, the techniques of yesteryear are being used for the wine production of tomorrow… Wine-tasting courses are available for the public, private groups, students and professionals. The Cirque de Saint-Même, in the heart of the Chartreuse Regional Park, is truly a place of outstanding natural beauty. Lying at an altitude of 900 m, the cirque always remains refreshingly cool thanks to four spectacular waterfalls that cascade through the middle of this impressive, 500-m high amphitheatre of Urgonian limestone. An underground spring, the source of the River Guiers Vif , ensures a constant flow of water to the falls (from top to bottom: Cascade des Sources, Grande Cascade, Cascade Isolée, Pisse du Guiers). A 1½-hr signposted walking circuit allows you to explore the three lower waterfalls. Another waymarked footpath connects the cirque to Saint-Pierre d'Entremont.

Formerly a shepherd's hut, it was converted into a refuge for hikers travelling through the Belledonne. Overlooks the Veyton, Whether you are a good hiker or not, you will enjoy climbing to the "Refuge de la Pierre du Carre".

The castle of Arvillard is located half way between Chambéry and Grenoble. The castle welcomes groups and organise stays in a family, associative and professional atmosphere.

The Gîte de l'Oule is a cosy little mountain refuge. Overlooked by the Puy Gris and the Col du Morétan, with a breathtaking view over the Chambéry valley, you can enjoy a blueberry tart or an omelette at any time of day. Getting there : From the car park, take in front of you a wide path (yellow and blue markings), follow it to a fork in the road and turn left. Go up the meadow of L’Oule along the stream. After 1500 m, leave the path up to the Col de Vay and turn right. It then goes over the waterfall to the left. Cross the concrete bridge to reach the ledge of the Oule (1720 m). Continue on your left, you’ll see the hut and you will reach it with a final short climb.
