Our farm is open to share our passion for breeding: Charolais cows, wagyus (the best meat in the world) and Selle Français sport horses. We are committed to respect for animals, the environment and transparency. Wagyu, the legendary Japanese beef. "Waygyu" means "Japanese beef". This breed is at the origin of several exceptional meat-producing regions (Kobe beef, Hida beef, Ishigaki beef, etc.) throughout the Japanese archipelago. It was at the end of the 19th century, after more than a hundred years of prohibition, that the Japanese population began to consume the meat of oxen previously used for agricultural work. The breed was selected for the marbling of its meat, but also for its docility. Respect for animals and their environment is an integral part of Japanese Buddhist culture. One of the best beef cuts in the world! The marbling (intramuscular fat) gives the meat its taste: its importance is a characteristic of hardy breeds that is lost with selection to increase muscle mass. It explains the unrivalled flavor of Wagyu beef and its exceptional smoothness. Wagyu beef is also rich in unsaturated fatty acids, notably Omega 3. These essential fatty acids are beneficial to health and help prevent certain diseases. Wagyu cattle are particularly well cared for, avoiding any stress. They are fattened throughout their development, reaching maturity at 3 years. Charolais, an excellent traditional meat! We also raise a herd of Charolais cattle, carefully selected to produce quality meat. For direct sale, we reserve young cows aged 4-6 years who have had one to three calves: this is what gives the tastiest, most tender meat. They are fattened with the same high-quality feed as Wagyu cattle, and the fattening period (from 4 to 12 months) ensures that the meat is very marbled for the breed, and therefore very tasty. Breeding in the Ain region. Our methods are based on the renowned tradition of Bresse breeding, and combine the very best in terms of genetics, feed, habitat and rearing methods, with respect for the animal (and the employees). The farm provides the cows' feed: natural meadows, artificial meadows (Swiss Mix) and cereals form the basis. The cows and their calves are raised freely in the meadows during the good season (March to November). We integrate respect for the environment into our breeding approach: hedges are planted, manure is treated by methanization and the energy thus supplied is used to dry fodder in the barn. We optimize crop production by alternating grazing with cattle and horses (thus also reducing parasite pressure). Finally, in keeping with Japanese culture, we take particular care to maintain the docility of our animals through respectful and attentive domestication.

Built around 1258 by Carthusian monks, this charming mill has benefited for centuries from the waters of the Reyssouze, the river that flows through Bresse. Admire this wheat mill and its 4 levels, where millstones, cylinders, sack-lifts... are in operation. The former miller, owner and active member of the Amis des Moulins de l'Ain, will tell you all about the history of the Bresse region, at this site listed on the Route des Plus Beaux Moulins de France and registered with the Fondation du Patrimoine. Push open the door of Bruno's Mill and discover its history and mechanisms. A mill until 1789 for the monks, then for a century for the Counts de la Boulaye, it became a power plant for a time. Later, it once again became a flour mill, eventually specializing in animal feed. Today, it's open to you for a plunge into the past and traditions, where young and old are sure to marvel. Children can touch, test and put themselves in the shoes of a miller for the duration of a visit. For an unparalleled experience, you'll be able to watch a 1908 dynamo being used to generate 110 volts of electricity. 2 turbines are also dedicated to the production of clean, renewable energy (electricity). Grandval farmhouse, named after an ancient parish, has been brought back to life by Morgan Benoît, the new owner since 2021. The great room, with its fireplace and period furniture, is open to visitors by special arrangement during the Heritage Days. The Grandval farmhouse dates back to the very early 16th century. The oak used to support the Saracen fireplace was felled in 1503. The Saracen fireplace was listed as a historic monument in 1925, and the body of the house in 1981. In 2021, the farm was bought by Benoît Morgan, a heritage enthusiast from Mézériat, where his grandparents and great-grandparents were millers. The farm is open for Heritage Days in September. In 2023, more than 400 people visited it. PLEASE NOTE: Exceptionally open on request and for the European Heritage Days.

A 3-hectare wooded area less than 2 km from the village of Etrez. It's both a place for walks and picnics for young and old, and a place dedicated to the conservation of tree and shrub species. The site is open to the public all year round, provided they respect the visitor's charter on the entrance sign. It is visited by individuals, groups and schoolchildren, particularly on Nature Day. The "Arbres et Nature" association is involved in the creation of an arboretum to the north of the commune. Its aim is to promote trees to the general public of all generations through a better understanding of trees, their life, history, uses, role, function in nature and their enhancement. Objectives : - Preserve regional tree species and introduce rare species of the same species for educational purposes. - To offer future generations a place to recharge their batteries, in the calm of a protected and managed forest area. To date, 133 trees of different species and 80 shrubs have been planted, all marked with a plaque bearing their Latin and French names. A 250 m hedge borders the park on 2 sides. There's also a 200-year-old "plessée" hornbeam, one of the remarkable trees listed by Patrimoine des Pays de l'Ain. Two wetlands have been created: a pond and an area of 3 basins with a footbridge, home to aquatic plants, insects and amphibians, including the protected yellow-bellied toad. The association organizes guided tours to raise visitors' awareness of the need to conserve biodiversity, particularly on Heritage Days. To do even more for biodiversity, the association has acquired the adjacent land (around 2 hectares) and is working to rehabilitate the pond, which was still in water a hundred years ago.

The Montalibord farmhouse features a Saracen-style mantel with a square, pyramidal bolster of an uncommonly abraded form. It is surmounted by a wrought-iron cross and its sides are decorated with triangular imbrications. Dendrochronological analyses show that the house was built in 1450, 1517-1518 and underwent several alterations in 1780. The chimney and roof were listed in 1944, and the whole farmhouse in 1974. Beautifully flowered in fine weather, it is still in business today (Charolais cattle, pond fishing and tourist accommodation = gîte and chambres d'hôtes). Inhabited until the mid-70s, it still has an open-air fireplace and period furniture (19th c. or even earlier), in particular an imposing archebanc (ancestral bench) with storage and a table. Also on display are a salt chair, a four-poster bed, tables and benches for meals, a tourti (bread ladder), a sink stone, a chest... In the old rooms, a presentation of the farm from 1932 to the present day, with a few tools and photos showing the evolution of farming techniques, but also the philosophy that has always prevailed on this farm over the three generations that have succeeded one another: the quest for quality. The eco-museum can be visited daily. Guided tours available on request.

The Moulin de Cézille, also known as the "Moulin Gaud", recounts an important part of Bresse's history, through its machinery and a small museum created by a team of enthusiasts. The Moulin de Cézille, or Moulin Gaud, is powered by the Reyssouze, the emblematic river of the Bresse region, which once boasted 37 mills - one every two kilometers! Many of these mills have medieval origins, reflecting the region's extensive cereal-growing activities. Such is the case of the mill at Cézille. However, the oldest written record dates back to 1667. It is typical of Bresse mills, i.e. straddling the river. Owned by the Gaud family since 1880, it ceased operations in 1977 and was sold. Now restored by a team of enthusiastic volunteers, it has been converted into a small museum. The most impressive feature is the large paddle wheel, but you can also discover the horizontal sawmill, the flour mill, the power station, the 1931 Ruston & Hornsby engine (still in operation), the miller's room and the exhibition room for paintings, photos, posters and ceramics.
