It was established in 1830 to enable training charges for cavalry regiments, including the XXth Dragon. The work of the Bühler brothers, famous 19th-century landscape architects, has unfortunately been forgotten. The lower part of the garden was completely rebuilt around 1928. Admire the plant beds near the large pond, decorated using a specific mosaic technique. Now deprived of its bronzes, melted down during the war, it owes its cachet to the flower beds and trees that adorn it.

The Moulin du Poudrier is located on the banks of the Vienne River, on a 4-hectare estate that has been a flour mill since the late 16th century. It was requisitioned by Louis XIV as a royal gunpowder mill, hence the name "Le Poudrier". It then became a porcelain factory, a hydroelectric power station and a spinning mill. In 1998, the mill was bought by Jacques Vignéras, who restored it with Paolo Del Vecchio. The site has now regained its prestige. The garden is a magical place that awakens all the senses. A recent addition, it is of Franco-Italian inspiration, with fountains, pottery and terracotta statues. It's an ornamental garden, featuring over 400 plants and remarkable trees (a plane tree over a hundred years old, a secular cedar). There's also an open-air theater where shows are staged.

With its 19th-century stills still in operation, the distillery reveals some of its age-old secrets! At the heart of a traditional distillery founded in 1789, the museum bears witness to the 48 distilleries that existed in Limoges in 1900. For almost two centuries, Limoges was the city of distilleries. A major trading center, it received cognac, armagnac, rum, liqueur wines, cane sugar, fruit, plants and spices, all of which were essential to the manufacture of numerous specialties. With plenty of oak trees to make barrels, pure, tasty water and a skilled, creative workforce, Limoges saw a new activity develop and prosper alongside porcelain. From 1780 to 1930, there were several dozen distilleries in Limoges.

The Limoges Opera, originally named Grand théâtre de Limoges then Opéra-théâtre de Limoges and renamed Opéra de Limoges since January 2016, is a performance hall located in downtown Limoges. It is adjacent to the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Limoges. Lyrical performances (operas, concerts by the Orchestre de Limoges et du Limousin (OLIM), chamber music concerts, ballets) are given here, as well as other non-lyrical performances (plays, concerts of contemporary music, French chanson, comedy shows and events linked to festivals (such as the Festival des francophonies en Limousin).It is one of the largest opera houses in France, just after the Bastille and Garnier operas. From the 9th century onwards, the Benedictine abbey of Saint Martial stood on the site of today's Place de la République. An important stopover and place of meditation on the Route Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle, it was also an artistic and intellectual center for the entire medieval Christian West. Indeed, a scriptorium (workshop where manuscripts were produced) had developed in the abbey, and from the 10th to the 12th century, the art of illumination enjoyed its golden age here. Saint-Martial de Limoges, thanks to the "tropes" composed by the monks, also became famous for its polyphonic music. The word "troubadour" - the performer of tropes - was born from the name of these pieces of music. It was also thanks to Saint-Martial that champlevé enamels were distributed throughout Europe.
