All along the route along these waterways, you'll be able to observe a whole world of exceptional animals and plants, right in the heart of the city. This walk will take you through the Chateauvert district, where you can admire springs from the Vercors, including the Malcontents fountain, as well as shared gardens and protected wetlands. You'll enjoy the freshness of this bucolic stroll, and see a wealth of fauna (frogs, dragonflies, trout) and flora (calltriches, potamots, rubanier): a veritable corridor for biodiversity. Leaving from the Tourist Office. Cross the crosswalk at the Fontaine Monumentale. Take rue Sévigné and turn left at rue du Refuge. Turn right up Canal des Moulins (the canal is on your left), passing between the buildings to reach the Chamfort parking lot. Continue along the canal to cross Cours Voltaire, then Rue Chateauvert. The canal is now on your right. Continue on the sidewalk along Rue des Moulins. Turn right onto Chemin du Ruisseau to rue Derodon. Cross the street and turn slightly right to join the path alongside the canal, which is now on your left. Cross Rue Jean Henri Fabre, and continue along the path until you come to Rue des Frères Montgolfier. Turn left up rue Montgolfier to the intersection with rue des Moulins. Turn right and walk down the street until you come to Chemin du Thon. Cross the latter and enter the park in front of you. Follow the driveway through the park until you reach the canal. Turn right again and turn left into rue Marius Moutet. Go up the street and cross rue Louis Ageron. Continue along rue Marius Moutet until you reach the impasse de la Petite Marquise on your left. This leads to Chemin de Robinson. Turn right onto Chemin de Laplat. Cross the road and enter the Fédération de Pêche parking lot. Take the left-hand path and follow the loop back to the Petite Marquise canal. Turn left and follow the canal (which is on your right). Cross rue Auguste Giraud. Continue ahead on the path. At the end, turn right, then left to reach the start of the allée Adolphe Pegoud. Take a few steps to your right and you'll be on Avenue Jean Clément. Turn left and stay on the sidewalk along the canal. Avenue des Baumes is the continuation of Avenue Clément. At the intersection with rue Paul Gataud (on the left), cross Avenue des Baumes and continue along the sidewalk. Pass the soccer pitch, the veterinary clinic and the tabac Presse. After the latter, turn right and follow the canal de la Grande Marquise, continue on Impasse d'Alzon, then at the end turn right up rue de Thibert until you cross rue Chateauvert. Cross and turn left. Take the 2nd lane on the left (before the butcher's shop) to follow the Canal des Malcontents Nord. After the children's playground, turn left into the park and walk up the driveway. Take Rue Sainte Thérèse on the left as far as Rue Chateauvert, then turn right up this street. On the left, follow Résidence Chateauvert along the canal (do not turn right into Résidence Chateauvert). Cross Rue de Serbie, continue straight on until you reach Rue Jean Joseph Génissieu. Turn right and follow this up to Place de la Paix. Continue straight ahead on Cours Voltaire until you come to Rue du Clos Gaillard. Turn left into Rue Paul Bert. Turn right in the direction of the train station and return to your starting point.

Like an immense green velvet blanket, the plain of Crozes Hermitage stretches as far as the eye can see. Wandering in free wheel will perhaps lead you to one of the numerous wine cellars. The short cycling trail along the river Rhône is ideal for a family outing, mostly on safe, nature cycling routes. On the longer trail, amateur cyclists will be thrilled with the view after an uphill effort to Pic Saint-Romain. Go along the ViaRhôna to Tournon-sur-Rhône. 1. 7,8 km Cross the footbridge onto the green route “Chabalet” heading towards Valence. 2. 16,4 km Get back onto the ViaRhôna heading to Tournon and cross over the river Rhône and its canal again. 3. 19,1 km Continue straight on the main road. 4. 20 km Turn left signed up Saint-Péray. 5. 21,3 km Turn right signed up Saint-Romain-de-Lerps. 6. 26,3 km Turn right at Combes onto “route de Combes”. 7. 29,1 km Turn right at the stop sign, continue to Pic de Lerps viewpoint then retrace your steps. 7. 30 km Back at the crossroads, follow signs to Saint-Sylvestre. 8. 31,4 km Turn right onto “route de Plats” to the village. 9. 35,9 km Turn right after the church onto the main road to Mauves. 10. 43,2 km Turn right at the stop sign leading into Mauves then continue through the village. 11. 45,3 km Turn left just before the railway line then return to Glun.

La Voulte-sur-Rhône is the starting point of the Dolce Via route. You leave ViaRhôna to cycle into the Eyrieux valley in pursuit of the old locomotives. Your adventure in the footsteps of the old railway line begins in the middle of the peach orchards where you begin a spectacular and gentle climb up the valley to Les Ollières-sur-Eyrieux. Add the view of the valley, its river, its villages perched on the other side and your ride becomes, from the first strokes of the pedals, an enchantment. And the journey has only just begun... The route is signposted "Dolce Via" and is laid out on a former railway line, alternating between greenways with gore (granite sand) or bituminous surfaces and low-traffic roads. The gradient is minimal (1%). The beautiful Corten steel railings (rusty appearance), not only aesthetic but particularly welcome to avoid any risk of falling along the many steep slopes of the route, are a reminder of the route's railway past. Be careful crossing the departmental road 120 when arriving at Les Ollières-sur-Eyrieux before reaching the station.

La Martinette is a small canal which runs quietly through the town. It provides a pleasant walkway where one can forget the sound of vehicles and admire the flora and fauna of the waterway The course of the river, still visible along Place de la Presle, gives visitors a glimpse of Romans' rich industrial past. Further upstream, in the heart of the city, you can follow a rural itinerary along the banks of the canal (with its many plant and animal species). The canal and its surroundings are home to numerous plant species, such as the groenlanda densa, and animal species, such as the newt, the frog and the leech, which live only in waters that are not very polluted. Their presence testifies to the good quality of the Martinette's waters. An original trail offering some of the finest views of Bourg-de-Péage. The historic town center boasts an original and diverse medieval and Renaissance heritage. The social organization of the town at that time is clearly visible. To the south, the bell tower of Saint-Barnard Collegiate Church marks the religious heart of the city; to the north, the Jacquemart Tower stands as a symbol of secular authority held by the consuls. After the destruction of the medieval ramparts in the mid-19th century, the town expanded northwards. A new district emerged, located between the historic center and the train station. The local economy undergoes new developments with the installation of shoe manufacturing workshops. The need for labor led to a sharp rise in population, from 10,000 in 1850 to 20,000 in 1940 and 30,000 in 1968. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, Romans was also a garrison town, housing several barracks. Today's city center gradually took on the face we know today. Going through plains and hills, along the rivers Rhône and Isère, enjoy the different landscapes of vineyards and orchards that shape the character of the region. It then continues along the road on the plateau overlooking the ‘défilé de Saint Vallier” a succession of curves in the majestic Rhône river. 2 – 4.6 km Between dells, glens and gentle hills, the trail heads slowly towards the village of Larnage. 3 – 13.5 km Along the way you will go up and down the hills of Drôme to the Roches qui Dansent (dancing rocks). 4 – 22.1 km An easy journey towards Chantemerle les Blés, with its Roman church offering a remarkably decorative display, before coming to the first hilly areas on the way to Veaunes where you can admire the plains of Herbasse. 5 – 30.5 km After the village of Chanos Curson a route heads south downhill between vineyards and orchards before reaching the banks of the river Isère. 6 – 37.3 km From Châteauneuf sur Isère, the cycling track Vallée de l’Isère (V63) will take you to the edge of the river then along to Pont de l’Isère. 7 – 44.9 km The route follows the river Rhône as far as Tain l’Hermitage (leading to the ViaRhôna).

Unique in The Rhone-alps region, this cultural site is dedicated to the World History, to civilizations that have been marked by persecution, to genocides, exiles, immigration and integration in countries of asylum. The center also reflects the history oh the people of Valence with Armenian origin. The Armenian Heritage Center is above all an original place of history which aims to provide keys to understanding the world around us. Films, multimedia, interactive maps make the permanent route lively and accessible to all. The exhibitions and animations offered throughout the year make it possible to broaden the subject and constitute real times of discussion and conviviality. The permanent exhibition brings together big and small stories about the Armenian genocide. A sensitive staging puts into perspective one of the significant episodes of the 20th century. The visitor discovers the history and culture of the Armenians through a veritable "journey" of exhibition, divided into seven sequences. More than 2,000 archival documents feed it. The public is then guided by an inventive and sensitive scenography, which exhibits the emblematic everyday objects before illustrating the genocide, the exile, then the arrival in France and the different forms of integration. Organized chronologically, this route thus offers several levels of reading and deepening: the visitor can stay at a first level of reading thanks to the general texts and illustrations, or enrich his discovery by exploiting all the mediation tools present in the scenography.

Listed as a Historical Monument, this bandstand became famous thanks to the painter Peynet. One night in 1942, the artist painted a scene that was happening under his eyes: a violinist was playing for one single admiring spectator, sitting on the bench of the bandstand. And this is how the story of the "Peynet Lovers" was born.

The Valence Museum of Art and Archaeology, harmoniously blending ancient and modern, takes you back in time, throught the history of man and the arts, from regional prehistory to contemporary art. The Valence Museum includes: A library of 10,000 works specialized in Art and Archeology as well as documentation and archives on the collections, the collection of which is networked with the collections of the media libraries of the agglomeration and with that of the École Supérieure d'Art and designed by Grenoble-Valence. A 1,200 m2 outsourced collection conservation and study center associated with a state excavation depot. The works were kept there during the renovation. It will allow the museum to regularly renew its hangings, to perpetuate the policy of enrichment and restoration of its collections but also to welcome researchers wishing to work on the museum's collections.

Saint-Apollinaire Cathedral is one of Valence's oldest monuments. It stands at the center of the cathedral quarter, adjacent to the ancient Paleo-Christian baptistery and the episcopal palace (now a museum) to the south. Consecrated on August 5, 1095 by Pope Urban II, it was destroyed during the Wars of Religion, then rebuilt identically in the 17th century. The cathedral has undergone numerous modifications. In the 18th century, Bishop Alexandre Milon de Mesme lavishly refurbished his church. He financed the great organ and its case, a new marble altar and decorated the walls with master paintings. The monument to Pope Pius VI, who died in Valence in 1799 as a prisoner of the Directoire, was placed in the choir. The old bell tower-porch, which threatened to fall into ruin after being struck by lightning, was replaced in the 19th century. The cathedral was listed as a historic monument in 1869. Built during the beginning of the 16th century, this house gives evidence of the transition of the Flamboyant Gothic style to the Renaissance. It has been named that way because of the many heads carved on its facade, in the corridor and in the courtyard. On the front facade, winds, wealth, time and iconic characters representing theology, law and medicine are represented. In 1548, in the Cathedral cloisters was constructed the funerary monument of the Canon (priest) Mistral. Constructed in molasse stone, its triumphal arch shape bears witness to the increased interest in Antiquity by the Renaissance movement. Sold as national property in 1796, the crypt was used at the end of the 18th century as a cellar and cesspool. Acquired by the City, the Pendentif was one of the first listed monuments in France (1840) barely three years after the creation of the Commission des Monuments Historiques and the passage of Prosper Mérimée in Drôme.
