Duration: 3h30 - Start: Salle des fêtes at the football pitch - Signposts: blue circle This trail takes walkers through the forest to discover Hindisheim's natural heritage. The old wash-house is the starting point. After crossing the Andlau bridge, the path passes between fields, orchards and meadows, before leading into the forest. Here, you'll come across a Liberty Tree planted by schoolchildren, an arch made up of 8,000 little blue and yellow hexagons, and a little further on the old football pitch, the "Gansebrunne" or goose well, followed by the Borne forestière. Then the Leimeleschle (old clay quarries), and finally a mirror reflecting in the middle of the forest. In 2012, the Club Vosgien, under the aegis of the Communauté de Communes du Pays d'Erstein, added a signposted walking trail to this discovery trail. Here you can discover the Bruch and the Andlau.

The island of Gerstheim is a narrow strip of land created by work of the deviation of the Rhine for the navigation and the production of electricity. Through this path, it's possible to discover the diversified habitats of the island.

Set off on a journey of discovery of the village of Gerstheim by following the sheep footprints on the ground. Departing from Strasbourg the European, you'll take the Bruche canal cycle route and its bucolic landscapes to reach the Alsatian wine-growing foothills around Molsheim. You'll then wind your way along the picturesque Alsace wine road cycle trail, between a sea of vines and orchards, passing through Obernai, Barr, Châtenois, Bergheim, Turckheim, Eguisheim, Rouffach and Guebwiller before reaching Cernay. You'll cross the Alsatian potassic basin and then reach Mulhouse and its rich industrial heritage, making it Europe's capital of technical museums. You'll reach the Rhine at Niffer along the peaceful Rhône Rhine canal cycle route (southern branch). Finally, you'll take the legendary EuroVelo15 - Rhine cycle route for a leisurely ride back to the starting point, discovering the typical landscapes of the Alsatian Ried with several beautiful stops in Ottmarsheim, Neuf-Brisach (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), Marckolsheim and Erstein.

Leaving Strasbourg l'Européenne, you'll take the legendary EuroVelo15 - Véloroute Rhin through the Robertsau Rhine forest before reaching La Wantzenau, Gambsheim, Drusenheim and Seltz, all of which have their sights firmly set on the Rhine. You will then head for the famous pottery village of Betschdorf, then on to Haguenau, city of Barbarossa, following the Sauer Valley cycle route through the Haguenau Exceptional Forest. You will then follow the Moder Valley cycle route as far as Bouxwiller, before entering the Vosges du Nord Nature Park and reaching La Petite Pierre and then Alsace Bossue on small, bucolic roads. You will then join the EuroVelo5 - Via Romea and the peaceful Véloroutes of the Canal de la Sarre and the Marne au Rhin. There are a number of beautiful stops along the way, including the Mittersheim and Stock ponds, the Arzviller inclined plane and the valley of the lock-keepers, before taking a well-deserved break in Saverne, home of the Rohan family. You then head south on the V52 to Marlenheim, where you join the Véloroute du Vignoble d'Alsace. Between a sea of vineyards and orchards, you'll pass through Obernai, Barr, Châtenois, Bergheim, Turckheim, Eguisheim, Rouffach and Guebwiller before reaching Cernay. You will cross the Alsatian potassic basin and then reach Mulhouse and its rich industrial heritage. You'll then set off to discover the Sundgau and Jura regions of Alsace, passing through Altkirch and following the Ill Valley cycle route. You will then make a foray into Swiss territory as far as the dynamic city of Basel. You will then take the Passerelle des Trois Pays to reach France and Saint-Louis. You'll then take the EuroVelo15 - Véloroute Rhin back to your starting point, where you'll discover the typical landscapes of the Alsatian Ried, with several beautiful stops in Kembs, Niffer, Ottmarsheim, Neuf-Brisach (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), Marckolsheim and Erstein.

This church, on the banks of the Scheer, is built on the site of a very old place of worship. It is dedicated to St. George, protector of Roman legionaries. One of the oldest churches in the region existed here. In 1202, it became the burial place of a Scottish prince, Ludan, who died, nomad and exhausted pilgrim, on February 12, 1202, a few steps from here. Thanks to its municipal utility company, Erstein directly manages the production and distribution of electrical energy within the town. The first Jews settled in Erstein in 1850. The synagogue was built in 1882 and was demolished in 1941 during the German occupation. Learn all about Jewish traditions, and discover the history of the Erstein community, during a guided tour (seasonal).

This church, first mentioned in 1281, underwent extension work between 1859 and 1861 which was carried out by Antoine Ringeisen. The current organ, dating from 1914, is the work of the Alsatian organ builder Roethinger, and is classed as a Historical Monument. The organ recently underwent restoration. Open every day from 9am to 6pm.

Passage of boats through locks. Taking up seventh place in the ranking of Rhineland hydroelectric plants, this facility began production in 1967. The lock, the dam and the dyke serve as a highly-used cross-border roadbridge between France and Germany.

This tourist belvedere is very well located and gives a plunging view of the fish pass. The Gerstheim EDF power station has had a fish ladder since 2019, and has built this secure lookout. Numerous explanatory panels.

Museum –Exhibition : The Archeological Space A small permanent space is reserved for the enhancement of the heritage discovered in erstein during various archaeological ecavation campaings. For the Brinze age, a well remarkable preserved 4000 years old (2004), as well as various vestiges was discovered during the discovery of the Merovingian necropolis, one of the most important in Europe (in 1999).
