Discover 11 unique Gravel routes in the West Var! Routes for all levels, between sea, hills and typical villages, for a cycling adventure in the heart of authentic landscapes.

Starting from the Calanque of Port d’Alon, this sportive path is drawn at the top of the coastal cliffs and overhangs the shore until the Pointe Fauconnière. Go exploring the preserved nature, beautiful landscapes and confidential coves. The start of this sporty hike, rich in sublime scenery and views, is at the end of the Madrague harbour. Take the stairs and follow the small passage on the right, between the houses. Descend to Plage de la Reinette and continue along the shore. After Plage de la Reinette, observe the petrifying spring with its travertine formation, a rare geological curiosity. Caution: slippery stretch along Plage de la Reinette. At the junction of the Pointe Grenier Heritage Trail and the Coastal Trail, a wooden sign informs you that you are beginning the Coastal Trail. Take the uphill walk to the left and follow the yellow markings. (This part is a challenging climb). After climbing all the steps, cross a tarmac road and take the 2nd staircase with wooden sleepers. This sporty section towards Pointe Fauconnière continues uphill, after a few bends, always following the yellow markings. Continue uphill on a steep, dirt path (Caution: can be slippery in wet weather). At the high point, enjoy a fine view of the surrounding hills, pine forests and the Sainte Baume massif in the background. Then a little further on. On the left, a panorama of vineyards and the Port d'Alon seafront (Pointe des Termes and Baie de la Moutte); on the right, a view of the village of Saint Cyr, the Madrague district and Baie des Lecques. Descend towards Pointe Fauconnière and the sea on a stony path. You'll enjoy a fine view of Cap Sicié and the Port d'Alon estate, and a fine view of Baie des Lecques, Bec de l'aigle and Pointe Grenier. Caution: do not follow the blue markers to the right! After an hour's walk, you've reached Pointe Fauconnière! A superb view of the Sainte Baume massif and Pointe Grenier awaits you. Below the viewpoint, carefully descend to the left after the pointe (keep following the yellow markings) and continue along the coastal path to the Calanque de Port d'Alon. Caution / Danger: Do not head for Pointe Grenier as the path is definitively closed due to rockfall and cliff instability. This steep, stony section of path offers a succession of beautiful views and enchanting landscapes. Pass the villas and private estate of Port d'Alon. Pass the esplanade and finally the calanque du Défens. This impressive stretch offers a magnificent opportunity to appreciate the shades of blue in the sea. After the second esplanade, a sign indicates the junction with the "sentier du Défens", which passes through the pine forest, set back from the coast. After a 10-minute walk, you'll come to the Jeoffrey cove - signpost N°15 to the Port d'Alon cove. At the calanque de Port d'Alon, with its majestic pine trees, enjoy a swim or a break in the shade before continuing on to Bandol. Water and toilets are available in season. Take the rocky path on the left of the Calanque de Port d'Alon. On the way, you'll see the Rocher de la Galère, also known as Le Sous-Marin (access to the cove is prohibited by decree N°2001-05-777). As far as Pointe des Engraviers, take advantage of the shady passages formed by the Mediterranean pine forests shaped by the wind, and the views over Ile Rousse and the Embiez archipelago. Continue to Plage des Engraviers, then cross the Athéna residence. Follow the signs to the Capélan peninsula. Follow the coastline, then take the road leading to Plage de Renecros in Bandol. Tip: If you do the whole trail, take the 880 bus from Bandol to Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer (Casino stop at the end of Bandol harbor). Please note that the nearest bus stop to La Madrague (where the trail starts in Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer) is the Le viguier stop on avenue de Tauroentum (about 2 km further on foot). From Bandol, you can also consider a return trip by train. Timetables are available on the www.sncf-connect.com/ application (the full name of the station is Saint-Cyr / Les Lecques / La Cadière).

Closure by municipal by-law of a section of the Littoral Path, between the Pointe Grenier and the Pointe Fauconnière. From the port of la Madrague to the port of Bandol, using the vineyard walk. Hiking route available at the Tourist Office of Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer. The Pointe Grenier Heritage Trail Duration 20 minutes Take the stairs and follow the small path on the right, between the houses. Walk down to Reinette beach and continue along the shore. After Reinette beach, look out for the petrifying travertine spring, a rare geological curiosity. Follow the path, almost with your feet in the water, until you come across the remains of Pointe Grenier's industrial past, in particular the three arches of the plaster kilns. Then reach the upper part of the point, which houses the restored remains of a military battery: chapel, powder magazine, barracks and watchtower. From the top, take time to admire the magnificent view over the Baie des Lecques and the Bec de l'Aigle. In view of the instability of the cliff overhanging the current route of the Sentier du Littoral and the risk of falling boulders and subsidence, the Sentier du Littoral is closed for safety reasons on the section between Pointe Grenier and Pointe Fauconnière. The Sentier du Littoral will remain closed until a diversion on this section is implemented by the state services. For your own safety, we invite you to comply with the signage in place. Return journey compulsory.

This thematic trail presents few difficulties. It takes about 1 hour to walk these 3.7 kms of discovery (plan the return trip). Hiking itinerary available at the Tourist Office of Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer. This path is bordered by reading tables and gives you and your family the opportunity to go exploring the heritage of our indoor landscapes, sometimes unexpected. Starting from the Port de la Madrague, he proceeds in the Conservatoire du Littoral’s properties, between nature and agriculture: local and traditional landscapes, vineyard and Bastide de Nartette, spillway of the dune éolienne plaquée, olive groves, wild orchids, etc. until the beautiful Calanque de Port d’Alon. Throughout the path, you will discover the result of agricultural activities’ maintenance related to the protection of this remarkable environment.

Hike to the popular Calanque d'En-Vau. Departure from the Bestouan peninsula in Cassis. The itinerary is difficult, requiring the use of the Portalet passage, redesigned in 2022. The route is considerably shorter than that from Le Logisson. The starting point is the "Balli de Suffren" bus stop. When you get off the bus, turn around and go back a few meters to take Avenue des Calanques on your left. At the next intersection, turn left again to follow the avenue down to the bottom of the Port-Miou Calanque. "Port-Miou" is Provençal for "good harbor", and this deep inlet offers excellent shelter for boats on windy days and in rough seas (1). On your left, you'll see large signs for the Parc National des Calanques marking the start of the path. At the start, it's a wide track that runs for 1 kilometer through a former industrial site, the Solvay stone quarry. Cassis stone is a shell limestone of marine rather than lacustrine origin, highly resistant and therefore highly appreciated as a building material in Provence, before the advent of concrete. The site was in operation until 1982. Along the way, you'll see the Cassis "château" on your left (2). At the crossroads, follow the GR signs (red/white or green). You pass close to the trou du souffleur (3). The path descends through the pines towards the Calanque de Port-Pin (4). [Then two options: 1/ The option chosen for this itinerary is to follow the GR to continue the route to reach the Portalet passage, which leads down to the bottom of the Calanque d'En-Vau (5). 2/ Take a detour (not marked on this itinerary) to explore the En-Vau plateau, discover the former Piolet refuge and enjoy several vertiginous viewpoints overlooking the Calanque d'En-Vau. In this case, follow the blue markers which also lead down to the Portalet descent]. Leave the Calanque de Port-Pin, continuing to follow the GR markers. It climbs until you reach the passage du Portalet. Here, in order to limit the gradual degradation of the path and natural habitats, channel visitor flows and reinforce hiker safety, the National Park authorities have undertaken work to redesign the path. Crossing the Portalet passage is a tricky business. It is therefore important not to deviate from the itinerary and to follow the signs. Once you've reached the bottom of the valley, follow the red markers to reach the coastal part of the Calanque d'En-Vau. Hikers, please don't leave any garbage behind. Don't follow the bad examples that are still recurrent. There are no maintenance workers to collect abandoned garbage. Sooner or later, it will end up in the sea. For the return journey, it's the same route in the opposite direction: follow the red markings up to the Portalet rise. Then green and white/red markings guide you to Port-Miou. This is a family-friendly tour. Good to know about access: During the tourist season (between Easter and All Saints' Day), we recommend parking your car at the Gorguettes parking lot at the entrance to Cassis, then taking the shuttle bus to the Calanques, stop: "Presqu'île". Welcome to the Presqu'île de Port-Miou (1), which runs alongside the calanque of the same name (2). The walk starts at the junction of Avenue Notre-Dame and Avenue de la Plage Bleue, where the Parc National des Calanques welcome sign is located. Just follow the enamelled plaques, which provide information on the history of the area and the Calanques (3), (4). Walk along, keeping the bottom of the Port-Miou calanque on your right. At some point, you'll reach a fork in the road (5). Keep to the right to complete a small loop which will bring you back to this point and take you around Bestouan (6). Continue on your right towards a chapel (7). Continue past the tennis courts to reach the esplanade with its panoramic view of Cap Canaille (8). Lean over the wall to catch a glimpse of the large rocky slabs of Plage Bleue (9). Take time to admire the beauty of the glistening Mediterranean Sea, and let the words of the Little Prince resonate within you: "You can only see well with your heart; what is essential is invisible to the eye". (10) Complete your loop by passing under the tall pines of the presqu'île parking lot. Continue straight ahead to reach the junction of Avenue de la Plage Bleue and Avenue Jean-Jacques Garcin. Turn left to return to the starting point.

Focus on the "Aires" mill : one of our 5 olds windmills, “Le Moulin des Aires” .It was built around 1762 and 1770, at this time it was called “Moulin de Margot”. On this ground which surrounded it, there was a field of carper tree. In 1985 the municipality bought it and this place was transformed in a play area. The term “Area” suggests the presence of a former threshing wheat area.

In a nice pine forest, with a seaview, outstanding museum built on the remains of a Roman villa. The visit will let you explore the daily life of the inhabitants of a villa maritima from the 1st century A.D. Suitable for all audiences. From the Tauroentum legend to the Villa Maritima Legend has it that the Greek city of Tauroentum, which disappeared "beneath the waves" in the 3rd century, was located on the Museum's present-day site. The site also bears witness to a major Roman settlement from the 1st century onwards, with some 2,000 people living in a huge villa maritima. Today, the Museum houses three rooms displaying a large collection of objects found in situ: amphorae, coins, glassware... and a remarkable collection of burials. Signposted, secure tour for groups of 8 in 3 spacious rooms. Since 2022, the Tauroentum museum has been undergoing a major renovation, involving the fitting-out of the public reception building, the consolidation, protection and restoration of part of the remains, as well as the enhancement of the outdoor facilities, the pedestrian walkway and the open-air theater.
