Landscapes of Ansouis

Ascend the wooded hill of Pâtis, offering beautiful views of the Pays d'Aigues, the Grand Luberon and one of the most beautiful villages in France. From the car park of the Tourist Office, turn left under the porch and follow the road towards the village. At the roundabout, turn right onto the Boulevard des Platanes. Pass the Place Saint-Elzéar and continue straight until the Place des Hôtes. 1- Turn left, take the crossing of the Colombier. Below, at the exit of the curve (big cactus), take the stony trail to the left. At the bottom, follow the road to the left, then turn right and cross the stream Le Marderic. At the sign "Juillère", take the path on the left direction Le Gavède. Go under a house, cross a barrier, and climb a steep path. Cross a second barrier, then continue climbing up the ridge trail. 2- At the top, turn right and follow the forest trail. At the height of the power line, leave a path on the right and continue straight ahead. 3- At the intersection "Coulet Blanc", continue straight in the direction of Villelaure, Vieux Moulin. Pass in front of a house, leave a path to the left, then, 100m further, turn to the right. Go straight ahead, cross a barrier, and then a second leading to the hamlet of Font-Blanche. Continue twice to the right, cross the small bridge over Le Marderic and reach the Route de Pertuis (D37). 4- Take the right for 300m and after the turn, turn right on the paved road of the Vieux Moulin. Go back to the village, go back to point 1 and reach the Place des Hôtes. Go further and turn left into the Rue du Petit Portail. 30m later, climb the stairs to the right. Go left in the Rue du Grand Four, then go up to the Place du Château. 5- Go back, go down to the first intersection, and turn right onto Grande Rue. Continue right on Rue de France and return to Place de la Vieille Fontaine and the Tourist Office.

Or how to, from your bike, ferret around the farmlands, enjoy local produce and discover the know-how With your back to the tourist office, go left on the small road of the Grand Pibaraud area (follow the markings "Le Pays d'Aigues à vélo"). Turn right at the Y-shaped junction and 370m / 400yd further, turn right on Chemin de l'Abouaud Brinde. Come out further on the D37. 1- Take the D37 to the left, towards l'Etang de la Bonde Turn left (D9) and then right (D27). Pass the entrance of the pond and 500m / 546yd further, turn right (D37). Turn left and continue on Chemins des Escabots and continue to the right (D120). 2- Turn left (D165) to reach Saint-Martin-de-la-Brasque. At the Y turn left. At the entrance of the village, cross the alley of plane trees on the right. Turn left on the course of Mont Libre and come out on the D27. 3- Take the D27 to the left until Motte-d'Aigues (follow the markings "Autour du Luberon à vélo"). Go through the village and go to the stadium. Turn right and head towards Cabrières-d'Aigues (D120). Continue straight at the intersection, pass a large curve then head down the roundabout located at the entrance of Cabrières d'Aigues. 4- Continue straight, then take a right onto the Rue du Temple and go through the village. Take the D189 until Cucuron. At the roundabout, take a quick left and then immediately right to get to the town center. 5- At the corner of the Louérion winery, turn left (follow the markings "Le Pays d'Aigues à vélo"). Go down the street from the cemetery and go straight to the roundabout. At the stop sign, turn left (D27), then right towards Ansouis. 250m further, take the Chemin de l'Agrie to the right. Turn left on Chemin de Saint-Estève. At the place called Long Bosquet, weave through the two houses to the left and go down the small road. 6- Turn right onto the Chemin du Praderet and head to the D37. At the stop sign, turn left and reach the tourist office at the foot of the Ansouis village.

Your minibus will set off from Aix en Provence for the village of Bonnieux. On the way, you’ll pass through the Combe de Lourmarin, a natural valley carved by a river flowing from the Luberon mountain range. When you stop in Bonnieux, you’ll get a splendid view of Cavalon valley, the Ventoux and Vaucluse mountains, as well as the small hilltop villages scattered throughout Luberon. The excursion then carries on towards Rousillon, crossing the Pont Julien on the way, a bridge built by the request of Julius Cesar. The minibus will make a stop-off here, giving you time to take photos of the impressive 2,000-year-old edifice. You’ll then visit the region’s vast fields of lavender. Known locally as 'blue gold', its flowers possess a delicate scent that is eternally associated with the landscapes of Provence. After the lavender fields, you’ll move on to explore Rousillon village Located on the site one of the world’s largest ocher deposits, Rousillon has a distinct charm. Its buildings are built from different shades of the rock; the yellow, orange and red tones of the façades striking a stark contrast to the deep blue sky. The resulting effect is reminiscent of a painter’s palette, and it’s hardly surprising that Rousillon is considered one of the most beautiful villages in France! At the end of your day, your driver will bring you back to Aix en Provence.
