The canal is lined with magnificent plane trees that are reflected in the water and offer a very appreciable shade in summer. Before the "Two Seas" canal was built, it was necessary to pass through the Strait of Gibraltar to reach the Mediterranean and the Atlantic; this obliged the navigators to travel more than 3000 km, to face storms and pirates. Since the antiquity, men were looking for a faster and less dangerous way to connect these two shores of France. This is what the Canal du Midi, then the Canal de Garonne that you follow here, allowed. The Balades à Roulettes® (BR®) are short, quiet walks, with a stroller or a small bicycle, or adapted for people with reduced mobility (in a wheelchair), proposed by the French Federation of Randonnée of the Gironde.

A magnificent walk to the Château de Cadillac-sur-Garonne starting from Castets-et-Castillon. The route follows the Garonne River along the small, undulating roads of the Entre-Deux-Mers region. Along the way, you'll discover the bastide town and château of Cadillac. On the way back, you'll pass two illustrious residences: Domaine de Malagar, the family home of Nobel Prize winner François Mauriac, and Château Toulouse-Lautrec, home of the famous painter of the same name. Don't forget to enjoy the cool waters of the Canal de Garonne on the way back.

The greenway is built on the towpath of the Garonne canal which joins the Canal du Midi in Toulouse. It is located, according to the sections, on one or the other of the 2 banks. The foundation of this ancient monastery dates back to Charlemagne .... In 1189, the community was affiliated to the Cîteaux Order by the Abbey of Pontaux. Unfortunately, none of the archives survived the harsh periods of the Hundred Years' War, the Wars of Religion and the Fronde, and finally the Revolution, during which the last monks were forced into exile. In 1938, Cistercian nuns from Blagnac (Haute-Garonne) brought this ancient monastery back to life. Today, the 9th century fortifications partially surround the monastery. The restored church has walls and columns from the 13th century as well as capitals and corbels from the Merovingian period. A store selling local products is open all year round, run by the sisters of the abbey.

This mill belonged to the monks of the Rivet Abbey, located in a commune not far from Bieujac. The monks made flour for their bread. This water mill ceased to operate in April 1969.

Across the South Gironde, you will discover these imposing, tall, long and dark-coloured buildings. They are as many vestiges of a culture implanted on these lands since the end of the 16th century, that of Tobacco.

This statue is located 500 meters from the center of the village, just across the main street. It is built on a high stone pedestal that allows it to be seen from afar. The Virgin is represented all dressed in white, only her waist is draped with a blue belt.

The wash-house was an important place of sociability in small towns until the 20th century. To do the laundry, the linen is first boiled in cauldrons before being brought in baskets and wheelbarrows to the washerwomen. The washerwomen rinse it and beat it with beaters, kneeling on the shale slabs which are at the water's edge.

This neo-Romanesque church has a high bell tower, flanked by bell towers and surmounted by a cross. A narrow stair tower with loopholes is attached to it. The church is located in the centre of the village and its bell tower serves as a landmark.

Auros is a county town of the Bazadais, that is to say of the old diocese of Bazas, located on a height which dominates the valley of the Garonne to the south, equidistant from the three important cities of Langon, Bazas, La Réole of approximately 10 kilometers The stream of Beuve crosses the town adding its picturesque to the landscapes, by its valley sometimes steep, its role once was considerable because it operated several mills cereal, including two Auros. Monco means "hot mountain" because the place is oriented to the south. The spring is abundant and provides water all year round. It fed one of the main wash houses of the village, which was used for centuries. In ruins, the wash-house was rebuilt identically in 1999.
