Discover a circuit between the rivers Glane and Vienne, nature and memory. This route, punctuated by hills and descents, won't leave you with the monotony of a traditional bike ride. Thanks to electric assistance, you can overcome obstacles and stroll through a natural setting typical of the Limousin, land of trees and water. This is a long tour, to be completed over the course of a day if you also wish to visit the Centre de la Mémoire and the martyred village.

Discover Rochechouart by road. Relax in the heart of nature and stroll through a landscape shaped by meteorites, in the Rochechouart-Chassenon astrobleme nature reserve. Rochechouart is also home to a number of historical and cultural monuments, including the Château Musée d'Art Contemporain, as well as a number of restaurants. Along the way, you'll be able to take in many views of the Limousin countryside.

On this walk, you'll discover panoramic views over the Glane valley and the Monts de Blond. You'll stroll through the territory of the lords of Châtelard, discovering the manor house of Châtelard and the fortified house of Châteaumorand.

This circuit will take you on the traces of the painter Camille Corot who found his inspiration in this protected natural site. You will discover memories of typical riverside activities (mills).

The "sentier des feutrières" is an unmissable walk and one of the most pleasant in the Haute-Vienne due to its natural, landscape and historical heritage. Thanks to the Corot site and the Vienne valley you will discover the history of this painter and that of the town. Do not miss the village of Sicioreix and the beautiful sunken paths.

This 2 kilometre trail is located on one of the largest islands in the Vienne. It focuses on the discovery of the human and natural heritage of the island. The walk, very easy, is marked out with small markers which reveal the treasures of this part of the island. This is an opportunity to get to know the diving cingle or the water robin, which can be seen during their migrations in autumn and winter. The island now belongs to the Community of Communes, and a farm is installed there. It carries out an activity of market gardening, breeding.

With its 46 hectares, the large island of Chaillac is the largest of all the islands in the Vienne. This walk around the island allows you to discover all the richness of the fauna and flora. You can also explore the site by following the interpretation trail.

This 13th-century bridge, 150 metres long, spans the Vienne River towards Rochechouart. It features six 14-metre segmental arches, six triangular foreshafts and six rectangular buttresses. On the banks of the Vienne River, it was the site of a large number of glove factories. Today, the site has been landscaped and is ideal for relaxing (picnic tables).

Built at the end of a 13th-century bridge of the same name, the Notre Dame du Pont chapel is in the flamboyant Gothic style. This 15th-century edifice was enlarged thanks to the generosity of Louis XI and restored at the end of the 19th century. The interior features a late 12th-century statue of the Virgin Mary. On the facade: a double door with coat-of-arms, embellished with an accolade arch, floriated pinnacles and a rose window.

Enjoy a magnificent view from the upper terrace, accessible via a path from the main road. From here, the panorama stretches all the way to the Vienne river and the viaduct, built in 1874 to allow passage of the Limoges-Angoulême line.

The hermit Amand settled on the banks of the Vienne, near a ford, to live in prayer. He was joined in 500 by Junien, and the two of them went on to help travelers cross the ford. When he died, Amand was buried near his hermitage. In the 11th century, his grave was found, and a church was built over it. In the 16th century, the Récollet brothers took possession of the site, which had become dilapidated. The abbey was rebuilt to include a church, refectory and monastic cells. During the French Revolution, the entire property was sold to Sieur Bernard, a miller, who in turn sold it to Sieur Périgord, sub-prefect of Rochechouart. The latter demolished the buildings and used the materials to build retaining walls, giving the abbey its fortified appearance. Today, only the north transept remains, and gardens have been laid out.

The village, perched on the left bank of the Vienne river, has many attractions. It huddles around its bell tower and a small square dedicated to Frédéric Mistral. The church of Saint-Saturnin offers a striking contrast between the austerity of its façade and the beauty of its interior architecture. The south chapel, an example of Limousin Gothic art, features 15th-century frescoes. Chaillac offers a wide range of activities, including fishing and hiking, as well as the "Le Village" leisure complex with bowling, laser tag and children's games. One of the largest and oldest Romanesque churches in the Limousin, it was the center of a vast complex (cloister, bishop?s house) which has now disappeared. Built in granite in 4 successive phases, from the 11th to the 13th century, the church's layout has always been respected, making it a homogeneous structure that bears the mark of the various construction periods, from the Romanesque to the emerging Gothic. Not to be missed: the monumental tomb housing the sarcophagus of Saint Junien. This magnificent 12th-century tomb, richly sculpted in La Rochefoucauld limestone, is shaped like a giant reliquary, with 3 of its sides covered in sculptures reminiscent of the fresco in the nave. The covered market was built between 1899 and 1902 to replace the old covered market, which was part of a complex adjoining the collegiate church and demolished in accordance with the regulations of the time. The new building housed the covered market, the grain market and the village hall. Built using materials such as iron and glass, it is a fine example of the architecture of the period. It's open from Friday to Sunday to welcome a host of producers!

At the bottom of rue Lucien Dumas, this beautiful 16th-century Renaissance house was built on 12th-century foundations. It still bears witness to Renaissance architecture, with cornices supported by modillions and mullioned windows. The upper section was remodeled in the early 20th century by local artist Jean Teillet.

This bridge, which used to cross the Glane on the old salt route linking the town to the Atlantic Ocean, is unusual in that it is angled. Built in the 13th century of fine ashlar, it features three pointed arches. A great way to get to the Corot site from the side of the industrial buildings, on foot or by bike.

This chapel, once dedicated to Saint Guignefort, was rebuilt in the 13th century and dedicated to Saint Madeleine. It was the headquarters of the Pénitents bleus brotherhood from the 17th to the 19th centuries.
