This circuit will enable you to walk along the paths of the communes of Ménigoute and Fomperron. You will discover in particular the site of the pond of Bois Pouvreau and its granite chaos, the perennial source of Fomperron or the place of the cloisters of Ménigoute.

Take the time to observe the fauna and flora of the Gâtinaise in the commune of Ménigoute, in the heart of the Vonne valley. You will certainly come across some granite chaos on your way! Be discreet if you want to have the chance to observe an animal! Departure at the bus stop on the town hall square.

Departing from Ménigoute, you'll set off on a 36 km trail of difficult difficulty. The route alternates between wide paths and forest sections requiring greater concentration and technical skill. You'll discover the Bois Pouvreau natural area, with its pond, undergrowth and impressive granite chaos. You have the option of reducing the number of kilometers on this route by cutting out a number of places: the starting loop around Ménigoute, at kilometer 23.5 and kilometer 27.

This 7 km hike leads you to discover the town of Vasles, the Mouton Village leisure park, the Gâtine hedges and the Boivre valley!

Some 30 km southwest of Poitiers, the Gallo-Roman site of Sanxay is a major archaeological site of the ancient province of Aquitaine. Nestled in a meander of the river Vonne, this small Gallo-Roman town was occupied from the 1st to the 4th centuries. 1500 years after its abandonment, the site was reborn through the excavations led by Father Camille de La Croix. Three main public monuments in an excellent state of preservation are fully accessible to the public: a theater with an estimated capacity of about 6500 spectators, a thermal complex whose walls and some heated pools still have elevations higher than 3m, and a 6000m² sanctuary composed of an octagonal temple with a cruciform peripheral gallery surrounded by imposing porticoes. A site to discover through thematic visits and workshops for families and the general public.

The present-day parish church of Notre-Dame was a collegiate church until 1791. Around 1320, Jean de Cherchemont, chancellor to the King of France and a native of the commune, founded a college of canons and built the church, which was then dedicated to St. John the Baptist. Today, only the walls remain from the 14th century, as the building was burnt down in 1568 during the Wars of Religion, then rebuilt. In 1902, a new bell tower-porch with a slate spire was built in front of the old façade. Inside the church, the choir contains beautiful 17th-century stalls once used by the canons.

A cross of delicate architecture, finely decorated, is located in the heart of the village, on the Place des Cloîtres, site of the former cemetery. Built in limestone, it consists of a circular pedestal, a pentagonal section and a pyramid topped by a small stone cross bearing the effigy of Christ, which has been partly mutilated. The transition between the different parts is made by means of ribs and three-lobed cauldrons. The top of the cross bears the inscription 'I DIE APRILI 1592 SPES MEA DEUS'.

The commune?s oldest monument, the 11th-century church of Notre-Dame century. It is one of the few surviving buildings from this period in Gâtine. Its its most authentic feature is the western limestone portal, adorned with carved decoration typical of the Romanesque period: the semi-circular arch over the entrance is decorated with diamond points, billets, human heads and feline heads. Used as a parish church until 1802, the building was subsequently put to many different uses. In the 19th century, it became a prison, then a school, before being used as a coach house and stables. Restored and converted between 1909 and 1919, the former church now houses a village hall and meeting room. Since 2010, it has been a venue for exhibitions, conferences and a library.

This beautiful Hospices chapel was once part of the almshouse founded in the 16th century by Jean Boucard, canon and treasurer of the chapter from 1495 until his death in 1536. Built around 1530, this chapel was chosen by Jean Boucard as his final resting place. Listed as a Monument Historique in 1862, this building is one of the few examples of the flamboyant Gothic style to be found in the département, and is characterized by its particularly remarkable wealth of decoration.

The Museum of Stained Glass of Grand Poitiers is one of the few structures dedicated to stained glass in France. Located in the extension of the Saint-Martin church in Curzay-sur-Vonne, this museum will make you change your mind about stained glass!
