In Martignas-sur-Jalle, nature lovers enjoy walks along the banks of the Jalles River, ideal for discovering the particular flora and fauna of this protected site classified Natura 2000. From the Moulin Bidon site, named after the Bidon family's old water mill, you can walk along the paths and, thanks to the duckboards, keep your feet dry, even in the wetlands. A picnic area, two bowling alleys, a giant checkers game and an exhibition on biodiversity await you. This fun and recreational park is the western entrance to the Parc des Jalles, which runs along the Vallée de la Jalle in Saint-Jean-d'Illac at its mouth with the Garonne. A large part of the site is dedicated to sports activities (rugby, football and Australian football, archery, weightlifting...). A monumental fountain in Mérignac, the Fontaine d'Arlac has a natural and constant spring. Built at the end of the 18th century, this fountain could be the work of Peixotto, the owner of the Maison Carrée d'Arlac, or of the Jurade de Bordeaux. It may have served as a large reservoir for the water destined for Bordeaux.
