Located on the banks of the Rhône, Islon St Luc is part of a Natura 2000 protected area. Joggers and ramblers can make use of the health circuit set up there. Picnics can be enjoyed on the stone benches and tables in the shade of tall trees. Make sure you visit the Arboretum set up by the town of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and the National Forestry Office. It gives you the opportunity to find out about some surprising varieties of trees. L’Islon is the starting point for discovery trails such as the ecological trail, which invites visitors to (re)discover the natural heritage of Bras des Arméniers (distance: 2 km). Information panels along the way explain how the natural environment of Islon Saint Luc works. This is also the starting point for the Châteauneuf-du-Pape natural heritage trail. It goes along the banks of the Rhone and the converted towpath. It features a series of historic and environmental information panels. 10 km circuit. Come and discover Saint-Michel de Frigolet Abbey , in the heart of the Montagnette massif! From the car park, head for the Saint-Michel de Frigolet Abbey. Take the path on the right that goes along the wall. Follow the rocky track towards "Boulbon 1h", then 100 m after the trail on the left. At the next intersection, continue in the middle of the kermes oaks to the track to cross twice. 1- At the next crossing, follow the indication "Boulbon 50mn". After the small collar, go straight down, then climb a second hill. Shortly after, cross the drivable track at the end of the valley to go up on the hill opposite. Cross successively two other valleys. Continue, leaving the basin on the left. 100 m after, cross a track, then take the path towards a factory chimney visible in the distance. 2- Then descend to Boulbon, through the valley of Saint-Michel. At the end of this gorge, turn right and follow the marking of red dots to access the Bonnet mill and its panorama (30 min return trip). Once back at the foot of the gorges, reach the village by the Gaston de Raousset street. 3- At the junction of the end of this street (fire hydrant), take the left for Barri street, then the second right on Météline street. Continue on the Breuil path, to the road. 250 m after the purification plant, turn on the road on the left marked PR (yellow), then find the road again on 100 m. 4- Take the intersection and follow “Pas de Bouquet” path. After 2 km, turn left towards "Saint-Michel de Frigolet abbey 1h40" by the San Salvador path. Continue for about 3 km. 5- At the highest point of the Montagnette (San Salvador, 161 m), dive by a small path on the right. At the crossing in "T” form then take a left. At the next two crossroads, always take the left. 6- Turn right on the track, then at the junction forming a triangle continue to the right. Find shortly after the departure path, "abbey of Saint-Michel of Frigolet 10mn".

Les Castillones" is the name of the ridge that proudly dominates the village from the west. Discover an exceptional panorama going from the Dentelles de Montmirail to the Mont Lozère passing by the Mont Ventoux, all in the heady scents of the garrigue. From the parking lot on avenue de la République, go to the place des Halles. Turn right on rue Henri Pitot then turn right to reach avenue Jean Moulin (sign "Aramon-Le Choisity") Turn left to take "l'avenue de la Gare" then left "le chemin des amandiers". Follow the red and white markings of the GR42. Turn right on "le chemin des oliviers". Pass over the railroad tracks and continue straight ahead. At the intersection turn right "chemin de plane d'houmé" and continue straight on for 2.6km (sportive climb). You will pass near the signs "Croix de Garbure", "Les Rompudes", "Combes de Gibarau" and "Taoule Messe". At the "Portail de la Planet d'Oume" turn left and follow the path (yellow markings) for 2km. At the sign "Les Castillones" turn left and continue the path for 1.4km. At the signpost "Quartier du Fangas" go straight on for 300m then turn left at the signpost "Valorière" to return to the village of Aramon by the "Croix de Garbure". Then take the path of the departure (red and white markings).

Leave the small village of Caderousse by a temporary Via Rhôna trail that leads to the peaks of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyards before entering Avignon." The route climbs up around 1 km and crosses through hillside vineyards affording beautiful views over the Rhone Valley. After Sorgues and as far as Pontet, the 3.5-km route through industrial and commercial areas demands more vigilance until the greenway running along the canals, at the entrance to Avignon, a stunning way in to the former City of the Popes. If you have children in tow, it may be easier to take the train from Sorgues or Orange to Avignon.

The Saint Bénezet bridge, a major witness of the history of Avignon, is known throughout the world thanks to the famous song. Built from the 12th century, it was washed away several times by the floods of the Rhone, and finally abandoned in the seventeenth century. Classified World Heritage by UNESCO. DUE TO THE FIREWORKS DISPLAY, THE BRIDGE WILL EXCEPTIONALLY CLOSE AT 2PM ON DECEMBER 23. Legend has it that the bridge was built in the 12th century by a young shepherd from the Vivarais region, Bénézet, by heavenly command. In reality, however, the bridge's construction was an ongoing project spanning several centuries. Hydrological changes in the river, following climatic changes from the 15th century onwards, were responsible for its destruction. It was no longer used from the 17th century onwards. The bridge was 920 meters long, with 22 arches linking the two banks of the Rhône. A bearer of legends and an emblematic monument of the region, it was the subject of unprecedented interdisciplinary work from 2010 to 2016, mobilizing an entire community of researchers under the aegis of Greater Avignon and the CNRS. The results of this research can now be admired thanks to museographic and multimedia mediation devices that reconstitute the Bridge in 3D in its landscape at different times. The 14th-century hydraulic network was chosen as the structuring element for the design of the Palace Garden, delimiting the large rectangles where Mediterranean plant species attested to in the 14th century in these pontifical gardens are planted. The redevelopment of the garden has restored its precious character, with the re-creation of the griffin fountain and the surrounding flower meadow. A national monument, Fort Saint-André was built to assert the power of the kingdom of France against the papacy in Avignon. It is a significant example of 14th-century French military architecture. Overlooking the whole town, with a unique panorama over the Rhône valley and Provence, it's an exceptional site. Saint-André Abbey was built by the Benedictines in the 10th century near the tomb of Sainte-Casarie (6th c.). Fort Saint-André's strategic position allows you to enjoy a 360° panoramic view of Mont Ventoux, the Rhône valley, Avignon and the Alpilles from its covered walkway. Saint-André Abbey was built by the Benedictines in the 10th century near the tomb of Sainte-Casarie (6th c.). Its influence was considerable in the region, where it owned over 200 priories from Uzès to Forcalquier. The buildings, rebuilt in the 17th and 18th centuries to designs by Pierre Mignard, were partly demolished after the French Revolution. Between terraces, ponds and the remains of Romanesque churches, you'll find Tuscan flowerbeds, century-old olive trees and other Mediterranean plants. And, as you stroll along the cypress-lined botanical path, you'll find one of the most beautiful views of Mont Ventoux, the Luberon, the Alpilles and the Palais des Papes. Jardin remarquable" label

Awarded the "Remarkable Garden" label in 2014, the abbey's gardens unfold between the remains of Romanesque churches and 6th-century tombs: Mediterranean plants, olive trees and century-old pines.... In the 2 hectares of gardens, it's rare to discover so many remarkable species (111 listed) and historical relics. A succession of atmospheres to explore: Tuscan, Provençal, romantic, mineral... along a walk where it's good to recharge your batteries. On the heights of Mont Andaon, these balcony gardens offer a panoramic view of Avignon's Palais des Papes.

Cardinal Arnaud de Via, nephew of Pope John XXII, founded a chapter of twelve canons in his livery, to which he bequeathed his property in 1336. He enlarged the chapel, which became the collegiate church of Notre-Dame. In 1350, the canons had the cloister and belfry built adjacent to the church. In 1792, the collegiate church became the parish church, replacing the Saint-Pons church. This "paradise" features a sculpted decoration of flowers and foliage that is one of the finest examples of Gothic naturalism. The collegiate church of Notre-Dame and its cloister are listed as a Monument Historique.

The village has a rich history, thanks in particular to its geographical location on the banks of the Rhône and its proximity to Avignon. As a hub for wine transportation, it was here that the Côtes du Rhône appellation was created. Today, the remains of the château and the collegiate church bear witness to this prestigious past. The latter is still important today, as it houses the relics of Saint Valentine, which are the subject of an annual votive celebration attracting large numbers of devotees.
