The dungeon of a fortress built in the 13th century by the King of France at the mouth of the famous Pont d'Avignon, to which it controlled access, the Tour Philippe le Bel dominates the whole of Provence, offering an exceptional panoramic view of Villeneuve lez Avignon, Avignon and the Rhone valley.
The tower boasts beautiful vaulted rooms, as well as a permanent museum space entitled "Mémoires de tour".
The exhibition covers the following themes: The figure of King Philippe le Bel; Avignon's territory around the Rhône, from the Carolingian era to the French Revolution; Bridge building in medieval times; 3D view of the Pont d'Avignon in its landscape, at different times.
These four major themes are translated into a bilingual French-English tour.
