In the heart of the Tarn Valley. Along this heritage trail, discover the peninsula of Ambialet, its churches, its village and its Priory. Around a schistose needle, the Tarn makes a long loop of 3 km. When the river seems to turn back, the peninsula of Ambialet is only about thirty metres wide. This unique site, which was for more than two centuries the most important stronghold of the Albigensian region, still bears the traces of a prestigious past. This tour will help you discover the various monuments and remains of Ambialet. From the old monastery, at the top of the promontory, you will have a spectacular view of the isthmus.

The beginning of the trail takes you along the banks of the Tarn. You will enjoy the movement of the river and the sound of the water. In summer, fishermen, canoeists and hikers will be part of the scenery. A little further on, the remains of the Trincat Mill. Along the way, you will come across huts that bear witness to an ancient habitat used by men and livestock. Through paths and meadows, you will reach the top of the plateau where you will discover landscapes as far as the eye can see. This hike will take you from the Sérénac plateau to the Tarn valley. It forms a loop around the Méridienne verte. A few heritage features mark out its route. t the start, on your right, you can see the Albigensian plain in the distance. During your walk, you will cross agricultural areas, oak and chestnut woods. In Pécotte, a small place in the commune where two farms are located for market gardening, you will see above all the "bac de Pécotte". It was one of the links between the two banks of the Tarn. It was put into service in 1880. Its activity ceased in 1960. Every year, on the third weekend of July, a festival is organised around this ferry. You will then go along the Tarn before reaching the high plateau where you can discover beautiful landscapes towards Alban, Assac, Valence d'Albigeois...

The landscapes of the Villefranchois are composed of wide valleys and beautiful plateaus. The climate is rather temperate, Mediterranean under the influence of the Autan wind, Atlantic under the dominant west winds. The path known as "Calle" will take you in turn along the banks of the Assou, to Calle, then onto the plateau, to "la Sigaudié" where a superb panoramic view of Villefranche and its surrounding countryside awaits you. You will go back down to the stream, to the Moulin de Bonnal. Following the left bank of the Tarn for 3 km, the Chemin de la Beaute (from the word "Veaute" or "voute") follows the meander around a wooded ridge overlooking the river by 150 to 200 metres. Starting from the small village which has preserved its schistose stone houses, in the hollow of the valley, preserved by the road access formed by two tunnels (constructions planned for the passage of a railway line), the path follows two parts of the GR®36 with passages overhanging the Vallée du Tarn Valley. 8 km of discovery, pleasant for the coolness in summer and allowing beautiful plunges on the landscapes of valley and plateaus of Ségala.

The Toulouse-Lautrec museum is located in one of the most beautiful corners of Albi: the Berbie Palace. The Palace is one of the Episcopal City’s major sites with World Heritage status. The museum is recognised internationally for the works of this artist from Albi. TOULOUSE-LAUTREC, A UNIQUE COLLECTION IN THE WORLD The world’s most important public collection of the works of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, including 31 posters by the lithograph painter, is to be found in Albi. There are also no fewer than 219 paintings, 563 drawings and 183 lithographs displayed in the museum. Early works, major portraits, paintings of brothels, prints from the world of entertainment, advertisements and later works are presented there, giving this museum an exceptional collection. A trip on the River Tarn aboard a traditional flat-bottomed boat. The Sérénac forest is equipped to receive the public and to discover the forest ecosystem (interpretation and hiking trails, permanent orienteering course, mountain bike course, picnic areas). La forêt de Sérénac, forêt de chênes, de châtaigniers, de hêtres de charmes, d'alisiers, et quelques résineux de 200 ha à une vingtaine de kilomètres à l'est d'Albi, était autrefois exploitée par le couvent de Saint-Louis-du-Désert. Elle devint ensuite forêt de production pour les mines de charbon et la verrerie de Carmaux. Aujourd'hui réhabilitée, elle est traversée de nombreux sentiers de randonnées et sentiers de découverte au départ de la Maison de la forêt.

The highest point on the Ségala plateaux, located near Valdéries (497 m). The mountain is overlooked by the ruins of the 13th century church of Saint Barthélémy. Along the road from Valdériès to Valence d'Albigeois, the dolmen of Gouty, classified as a Historic Monument, is worth seeing.
