This circuit gives an insight into the plants grown in the Combe de Savoie, where plant nurseries, crops and poplar groves are interspersed along the irrigation channels and along the clean-up of the marshes that used to form the Plaine de l'Isère. From the leisure centre car park, take the path along the canal at the end of the lake, right bank ('Promenade du Canal'), then turn left at the roundabout towards the waste disposal centre. After a pond, turn left along a path that follows the railway, until you reach St Jean de la Porte. Turn left along the departmental road for 400m (passing in front of the cemetery), then turn right along a path following the canal, staying on the same side of the canal, until you reach a crossroads with the RN6 (Monument aux Morts). The return leg follows the same route, but alternatives are possible.

The bends are regular and you produce a pleasant continuous effort. The sun shines on the first few hairpin bends, where you come across a few more houses. Finally, the shade of the tall trees offers welcome coolness, as the effort begins to be sustained: the higher you go, the greater the percentage of gradient! Between the last few hairpin bends, a few flat spots give you the chance to ease off the pedals and enjoy the scenery. After a final bend, you emerge from the forest canopy and the sunlight greets you at the pass. Take a breather: you've arrived in the Bauges massif! A lovely climb. You can drink water and eat in all the villages in this area, and the nearest bike repair shop is located in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne. You can admire the Cathedrale of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, and "L'Aura" in Sainte-Marie-de-Cuines. There are some museums and galeries that you can discover : for example "Le Félicien" museum, and the milk cooperative of La Chambre and its production of Beaufort. To conclude, you can have a relaxing moment, with some lakes (Saint-Rémy-de-Maurienne, Saint-Alban-d'Hurtières and Villargondran)

This family walk is located on the village of St Jean de la Porte. The view of the Combe de Savoie and the Belledonne Massif are superb. Follow the itinerary back to the start point. From opposite the town hall (Mairie), take the road that goes to the top of the village. At the first junction, fo straight on until you get to the last houses. When you are level with the cross, turn right and cross the Combefolle stream. Continue along the road and then along dirt tracks between the vines, until you get to the hamlet of Les Grangettes. The path follows an old mule track, flanked by dry-stone walls, towards the forest. At the edge of the forest, contour around the hillside to reach the "Pont des Dames". Cross the bridge and continue the clilmb to the hamlet of Combefolle: the high point of the hike. Type of itinerary : round trip.

Summer season: To exploit the lake's surface area, many anglers use bombs weighing between 20 and 30 g, bringing them more or less gently to the right depth while animating the bait. Buldo fishing can also be very effective. As for baits, the great classics (worms and moths) are a must, but the new multicoloured "extraterrestrial" pastes, sometimes a little unacademic, also give very good results. Beware: it's not uncommon to tempt trout weighing 3 to 4 kg, so bear this in mind when choosing your leader and when casting. The different terraces overlooking the garden are as much open passageways over a vast horizon of Alpine peaks. From the snow-covered ridges of Mont Blanc to the distant foothills of Vercours, passing through the Dent de l'Arclusaz or the Chaîne de la Lauzière, they provide the château with a spectacular mountainous backdrop.

The Chapelle de la Sainte Fontaine was built in 1839 on the site of a former priory, which was founded and inhabited by the Benedictine monks from the year 1050 until the French Revolution. Until the beginning of the 18th century, the Benedictine monks owned the second-richest estate in the Bauges, after the Chartreux d'Aillons. Located in the heart of the Réserve de Chasse et de Faune Sauvage des Bauges, the chapel contains the remains of the Pères de Bellevaux and is a pilgrimage destination on the Monday of Pentecost. There is a signposted nature trail from the Maison Faune-Flore. Take the 'Vallon de Balleveaux' path to learn more about the secrets of the wildlife, plants, activities and agriculture. The Tours de Montmayeur is a Medieval site containing the remains of a 12th-century motte-and-bailey castle. Its north-eastern tower rises over 20m above the ground. Other than numerous remains dug up by archaeological excavations, the keep, outer walls, 'aula' (lord's house), kitchen and church, the attraction of the Tours de Montmayeurs is its strategic location overlooking the Combe de Savoie, offering visitors a 360° panorama over Les Bauges, the Massif de Belledonne and Chartreuse. The magical setting of this outstanding site will enchant children and adults alike.

The Rochebrune and Tête-Lasse batteries, at the front of the system, beat the passes and slopes of the Arc valley. These infantry posts controlled the entrances and exits to the Cucheron passes.

This small alpine lake is located at 874 m in an idyllic setting. Bordered by reeds, it has kept its charm and its wild side. Accessible in any season, it can be discovered by a pedestrian walk all around. Swimming or bathing is forbiden.

The baroque chapel in La Minière dates back to the seventeenth century (1661). It is dedicated to Saint Barbe,( patron saint of miners)who is represented in the wall painting, to Saint Lucie (patron saint of stone sculptors) and to Saint Bernard de Menthon (patron saint of mountain people) It was restored in 1883, then in 1985. In the painting the same scene was reproduced. Its wrought iron grid, bearing the date of 1668 and the name of the artist –G Bonnet-, is remarkable. A similar one exists in Chambéry in the Croix d’Or street, on the mansion of the Castagnery family who owned the mines in St Georges. Another one also exists in the choir of the old church in Annecy
