Stroll named « discover of the Villards valley », really easy. Start at La Perrière, go in direction of the Glandon pass. Go in the La Chal hamlet. In front of the St Roch chapel, go to the narrow route passing between two buildings which lead to a bridge stepping over the Glandon torrent. You pass at the Les Moulins hamlet and you reach at the Valmaure hamlet. At the end of the hamlet, further down, there is a farm. Following the path, you reach the Roches hamlet then go back at the start.

• Black route n°66 From the recreation area, head towards the hamlet of Nantchenu, then take an uphill, winding forest track to the Grange du Truc. You will then continue along a steep, grassy path towards the Côte Brune ridge. After a fairly strenuous climb, you will reach the Grand Truc viewpoint, offering a magnificent view of the Aiguilles d'Arves. To begin the descent, retrace your steps to the start of the forest road, then take a very technical forest trail, with hairpin bends and roots, which will lead you to Le Plan. This trail passes under the Rogemont chairlift before returning to the recreation center via Nantchenu, as on the outward journey. This route requires excellent riding skills and excellent physical fitness. • Lake Loop No. 63 This route is ideal for families looking for a short, child-friendly stroll. Starting from the lake, you'll take a shaded 4x4 track to the hamlet of Nantchenu. You'll pass the eco-museum, which you can visit if you're curious. A short loop through the hamlet will allow you to explore the village before returning to the recreation center via a wide, grassy path leading to a bridge. Back at the recreation area, enjoy the lake to cool off, the children's play areas, and the pump track to perfect your driving skills. • Les Roches n°65 From the recreation area, head towards the hamlet of Les Roches, then take a shaded 4x4 track to the Plâtre footbridge. Once you've crossed the footbridge, a rather technical trail opens up to reach Combe des Roches. Once you reach Combe des Roches, take the discovery trail that will take you to the Talc tunnel. This trail, through the forest, will lead you back down to Tepey. The descent is quite technical, with hairpin bends and relatively steep sections. A wide path will then lead you to the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges chapel, then you'll take the road towards Les Roches to return to the starting point. Starts: From Chef-lieu of St Colomban, go to the Pierre Bozon path (in front of the city hall), in order to go to the Roches’ hamlet. Descriptive: A track which lead at the mountain pastures of the Roches’ valley. The most picturesque is to go up from the old path which lead to a long torrent on his left (right bank). Arrived at the Plâtre footbridge, come back by the other bank by going down by shady path between the trees to the Roches. If you want to reach St Colomban, left the path then continue on a wide path.

Starts : From the Roches hamlet / From the Chef-lieu of St Colomban following the Pierre Bozon path (in front of the city hall). Descriptive: A track leading deep in the Roches valley allowing plants observation. At the start see the track (Passerelle du Plâte) then, at the Plâtre footbridge, choose, go up by the torrent bank (right bank shadier) to go down by the other. Deep in, you’ll see the Orselle ruins. Cross the torrent thanks to a footbridge.

Start : Croix de Fer pass. From the parking, go on the track (suitable for motor vehicles) but closed by a gate. Descriptive: Admire the assembly line Belledonne and the plunging view of the lakes. Hiking easy and highly frequented. Weak elevation gain but lengthy track.

Jarrier's highest chapel, on the Chambeaux mountain pasture. The first chapel was built in 1864, but was unfortunately swept away by a violent storm in 1935. The chapel was rebuilt in 1941 thanks to the determination of parishioners who were very attached to this place of prayer. It overlooks the mountain pastures and was used as a place of prayer by the Alpagistes. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary and the Immaculate Conception, mass is celebrated every year on the second Sunday in September. Access on foot or snowshoes from Léard or La Tuvière (approx. 1 hr.), or on a cross-country track.

The chapel and its surroundings are a good example of the mountain environment. The chapel was first known as the St Roch chapel. Built in a non-decent manner in 1600, it was rebuilt in 1661. Renovated in 1787, 2 years later £67 were spent to plug holes, bleach the chapel inside and build four columns outside to prevent from disrepair. Nevertheless, 60 years later despite all the care, the chapel was falling into ruins. Therefore, a decision was taken to build a new chapel. Everyone participated in its construction depending on their own means. The chapel was achieved, though, due to financial problems less than 6 years later on September 1851. It was then inaugurated on October 20th, 1851. Nowadays, the chapel is in a very bad state and its conservation is crucial to keep this wonderful Savoy landscape alive.

Also known as Chapelle Rose, it was built in 1565 in the wake of a plague epidemic, and restored in the 17th and 18th centuries. It is the oldest chapel in Jarrier. Its pink facades, its position (against the backdrop of the Aiguilles d'Arves) and its surprising location (with its back to the valley, due to the plague) make it a unique building. The interior features two large cross-vaulted bays, painted by Charles Prarioz around 1860. A Baroque altarpiece with columns frames a painting of the Virgin Mary. The chapel is dedicated to St. Roch, a pilgrim (1350-1380), and to St. Sebastian, a Roman officer martyred in 288, both reputed to be anti-plague saints. St Roch's chapel is also known as the pink chapel, because its color comes from a red clay used as a wall coating called "gria" in Maurien dialect. We can see St Roch's chapel, situated on an impressive promontory.

Inside an old mill, built in the traditional village style of leg houses (or columns), discover the restored mill mechanism in operation and all the tools used in the past (loom, saws, planers, etc.).

This chapel is located in the Cruet hamlet, within walking distance of the Corbier resort centre. It cannot be visited, but you can still see it from the outside. 1627: Foundation and construction of the Chapelle du Cruet, which was renamed Notre-Dame de la Consolation, then Notre-Dame de la Pitié in 1771, to take on its current name of Sainte Philomène. In 1630, a plague epidemic. In 1759: 20 families lived in Cruet, i.e. 60 inhabitants. 1876: Fire. Only 2 houses were spared. 1881: Another fire. Inside the chapel, there is a 17th century tithe chest used to pay the tithe, a tax established for the benefit of the Catholic Church and officially recognised in 779, under Charlemagne. The tithe was levied on crops and livestock. All property, whether that of nobles, commoners or even the personal property of ecclesiastics, was subject to tithing. Collection of the tithe was entrusted to a farmer. As a general rule, 1/4 of the tithe went to the bishopric and the remaining 3/4 to the parish. Peasants had to "offer" a tenth of their harvest, while artisans had to "offer" a tenth of their production. The tabernacle was dug into the wall of the chapel. Outside, the font.

Relic of the neolithic era, this place is visible from the Foncouverte plaza. At the slope located near La Chapelle des Villards, you can see a semi-circle consisting of twelve big free standing and semi-buried stones. As it is facing south, this magnificent monument is said to be used as a calendar or a sundial.

Situated above the Montvernier lacets, this hexagonal chapel was completed in 1864 (renovated in 1981). Built on a rocky promontory overlooking the valley, it is thought to have replaced an ancient castle. It is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The interior is largely blue, the color of the Virgin Mary. Although close to the main road, the chapel is only accessible via a footpath. Take advantage of your visit to discover its geological underpinnings: beneath the chapel (a 1-minute walk away), the Hercynian bedrock of the Alps is visible. An explanatory table will guide you in your discovery.

Only 15 minutes from the village of Saint-Jean-de-Belleville, Refuge Plan Lombardy is perched at 1 764 m high in the heart of a valley still virgin and wild, at the foot of the majestic Black Horse.
