Departing from the historic centre of the town of Cernay, a walk to discover the flora and fauna of the banks of the river Thur and the vineyards of hill 425 at Steinbach. This is a family walk with no particular difficulties. On the plus side, there's a wide variety of landscapes and you can even put your feet in the water!

The mountain landscapes accompany you... in the distance! It is towards the Alsace plain that this hike leads you. The route is accessible to beginners, who must however be vigilant in order to manage their effort well, particularly according to the wind. The practice in group or in family is appreciable. At the end of the route, you reach the vineyard. So save your energy for this unique climb!

A tour to get you ready! From Cernay to Thann (or the other way around), to discover the southern Gate of the Alsace Wine Route: from the discovery of these two big cities with an important industrial past to their Vosges forests and the wine trails of the Cote 425 and the famous Rangen (Grand Cru). Take the time to look up and (re)discover the jewels nestled at the foot of the Grand Ballon.

A more sportive tour for the ascent of the Molkenrain mountain. Always a warm-up in the pretty villages of Uffholtz and Wattwiller, world-famous for its mineral water, before heading to the Vosges hills, the Steinbach valley and the famous Erzenbach waterfall! You are at the foot of the Grand Ballon, and it's starting to sting! The way back will lead you through the vineyards of the Cote 425 of Steinbach, which will encourage you to discover its wine without further delay.

This tour takes you through the villages of the Southern Gate of the Alsace Wine Route, through the vineyards and their hills. When you look up, you will discover the site of the Hartmannswillerkopf - Vieil-Armand, a battlefield from 1914-1918. The first wine cellars are revealed on this route, a stop is necessary, and this is also part of the discovery of the territory!

Starting in Cernay, a challenging hike to the Molkenrain, a summit of the Vosges massif at 1,125m just below the Grand Ballon, the highest point at 1,424m. A challenging hike with 610m of ascent. Its strong point: Alternatives offering views or historic sites are proposed throughout this hike.

An easy and surprising walk starting from the town of Cernay, which takes you to the heights of the village of Steinbach. The route takes in the chapel of Saint-Morand, patron saint of winegrowers, which overlooks the Steinbach vineyards and the Alsace plain. There are wonderful views along the way, from the Molkenrain and Hartmannswillerkopf in the Vosges mountains to the Black Forest and the Swiss Jura in fine weather. It's a very pleasant walk. The best thing about it is that it starts in the town centre and is a welcome change of scenery.

This path, which rises above the town of Cernay, opens onto the plain and provides a breath-taking view. It bears the marks of the First World War, which totally destroyed its vineyard, but allowed it to keep its Cote 425 wine label. You will see many reminders of the war (monuments and former bunkers ...) at the heart of this unique vineyard. It was replanted from 1920 onwards and all Alsace grapes may be found there, with production conditions favorable to Pinot Noir. From the chapelle Birling follow the red ring to start a 2 hours’ trail. Enjoy the 5 km walk to admire the landscape and to run through the history of this unique vineyard.

The path "The Vieil Armand slopes" in Uffholtz: between mountain and plain. Along this path you will discover a vineyard protected by the Hartmannswillerkopf (956 m) and Molkenrain (1125 m) summits, which was totally restored after the First World War. You will discover the varied landscapes of the Vosges Range, the Alsace Plain or the village of Wattwiller. The walk crosses a young vineyard containing all the Alsatian grapes, continues along centuries-old orchards and takes you to the water’s edge of restful ponds.

The hilly Alsace Wine Route acts as a warm-up before the ascent to the Amic pass, which offers a small road away from the traffic. The first slope is steep, but don't worry, the percentages are more reasonable afterwards. At the pass, don't you think you are at the top! You have to continue for another 3 km on the Peak's Route towards the Hartmannswillerkopf. The descent is sinuous, but pleasant!

There is a bench next to this oratory where you can take a pleasant break. Take the path on the left towards Berrwiller.

This oratory, as well as the following one, were probably built at the end of the 19th century or the beginning of the 20th century.

On both sides of the path you will find World War I bunkers. These are German bunkers dating from 1916-1918 and restored by the Friends of the Hartmannswillerkopf and the Baden South West reservists.

This pretty fountain, carved from tree trunks, owes its name to Auguste Kauffmann, former mayor of Hartmanswiller, who installed it. Take the path on the left: you are on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela.

After a gentle descent at the end of the forest, you enter the Berrwiller vineyard. In good weather, you can see Mulhouse and sometimes even the Swiss Alps.

Before crossing the departmental road 5, the panorama allows you to discover the bell tower of Berrwiller and the plain of Alsace.

At the roundabout at the entrance of the village of Hartmanswiller coming from Cernay by the RD 5 or from Bollwiller by the RD44 in front of the Meyer hotel, take the route de la forêt. You can park your car 500 m further on the edge of the forest. The route takes the road to the canteen, so called because it leads to the ZELLER canteen, which was the former German command post of the 14-18 war on the Hart-mannswillerkopf front. The place is named Zeller in reference to Madame Zeller who lived there after the Second World War.

The itinerary goes through a very beautiful setting between vineyards and orchards. The views follow one another towards Hartmanswiller, the Vosges mountains, Bollwiller, the headframes of the Rodolphe Mine etc. Follow the red-white-red rectangle sign back to the starting point through fields and orchards and onto the Route de la Forêt.

With two cosy rooms seating 30 and 60, we can cater for groups and banquets. Traditional and regional cuisine, not forgetting our specialities on Fridays. The cabin, these furniture and the beds were handmade with Vosges wood. The hut was built in the image of the witch, that is to say, a single large room arranged and thought to spend an unusual stay. At your disposal, a kitchenette, with a table and stool for the meal. A double bed and a loft bed for a child. The toilets are in common and are 20 m from the cabin.
