This long walk will allow you to discover two remarkable places in the region: the Heidenkopf with its 360° orientation table and the Verloreneck shelter and its forest of mysterious menhirs. Don't hesitate to set off on the paths: this hike in the forest offers magnificent views of the Mont Sainte-Odile, the castles of Ottrott or the Guirbaden! On the summit of the Heidenkopf, buried in the vegetation, there are still the remains of the foundations of an old castle whose history and name remain unknown. In 1909, the Vosges Club erected the Mundel Tower from which a magnificent panorama awaits you over the Vosges and the Alsace plain as far as Strasbourg. A remarkable orientation plaque surrounds the top of the tower and benches and tables invite you to rest and meditate. You can also take a diversion to eat or take a break at the beautiful shelter of Verloreneck. The menhirs surrounding it are an achievement in the neo-Druidic style of the 19th century. Even though they do not date back to Celtic times, this pleasant space will charm young and old alike. - Hike in the forest where it is easy to lose the right path. We recommend you set off with a GPS app on your smartphone. - Variant: it is possible to go to the Heidenkopf and the Verloreneck from the Eichwald crossroads (then follow the markings of the Vosges club. 11km, 3h30)

Proposed by our hiker colleague Monika, this long and beautiful hike will take you to the heights! From the manufacturing village of Klingenthal, go to discover the summit of the Heidenkopf and its Mündel tower, high of 17m. Climb up to discover a 360° panorama and see the other major stage of the route, Mont Sainte-Odile. To reach it, you will only have to gradually descend into the valley of the Ehn and go up to the Sanctuary. Along the way, you will encounter some beautiful heritage curiosities. On your way to a sports bike ride in the Sainte-Odile Lands! This local loop starts from the wine village of Ottrott, then joins Mont Sainte-Odile through the mountain village of Grendelbruch. This small cycling journey continues with a descent to the plain in Obernai, to then join the Green Path "Portes Bonheur, le chemin des carrières" in Rosheim. The 11km on the old railway, takes you back to the starting point of this route!

From the wine village of Ottrott, head to the top of Mont Sainte-Odile to discover its history. This great hike will take you to the valley of Niedermunster, known for its abbey founded by the abbess Saint Odile. You will then continue to the unmissable sanctuary and its breathtaking panorama through the miraculous spring, famous according to the legends, for its benefits. The return will be made quietly by the castles of Ottrott, this, following a part of the mystical pagan wall.

From the upper part of the village of Ottrott, go to discover a beautiful nearby town, Obernai. The route will take you through the alleys of Ottrott, then you will join the Sentier de l'Ehn. It follows a small shady stream to the entrance of the city. Afterwards, you will only have to go to the city centre of Obernai and discover its small curiosities. Other possible departures: - Old station of Ottrott (first of the greenway Portes Bonheur) - Bus stop Line 257 (Old station or Pont de l'Ehn)

This beautiful hike takes you around the castles of Ottrott that were built in the twelfth century! You climb up through a shaded forest of the Vosges mountains. From Ottrott, discover the natural and heritage riches on the heights of the village! On the program of this beautiful loop: climb to Mont Sainte-Odile by the Ottrott Castles (the Rathsamhausen and the Lutzelbourg) then by the point of view of the Elsberg. Museum Gaspar is housed in the residence of the middle-class family Gaspar from Arlon who had set up in this house (1893) that was built in 1842. It was renovated in 2004. The two most famous members of this family are animal sculptor Jean-Marie Gaspar (1861-1931) and Charles Gaspar (1971-1950) who was a photographer and a sponsor. He gave his house to the town of Arlon on the condition they make a museum of it, dedicated to his brother's work and that put into honour the history and the heritage of Arlon. At the first floor, theree are two restored salons identical to a middle-class salon from the early 20th century that show Jean-Marie Gaspar's sculptures. and the art and picture collection of Charles Gaspar. The rest of the first floor is dedicated to temporary exhibitions of the museum that alternates artv and history. A religion room shows collections about the abbey of Orval and to the people's devotion at the 18th century, and also relics from the ancient Saint-Martin church. But the Masterpiece is the famous altarpiece Retable de Fisenne - a 16th century masterpiece from the Antwerp school. It was bought in 1893 by a middle-class family from Arlon, the family Gaspar. Jean Gaspar (1861-1931) was a sculptor. He was trained by the Antwerp sculptor Jef Lambeaux. His works are in bronze and in plaster and they are exhibited in the salons that have been restorated as they were in his house. His brother Charles (1871-1950) was a photographer, a collector and a sponsor. He gave this house to the town of Arlon. It hosts the library of the Archaeological Institute of the Belgian Province of Luxembourg and its secretary office since 1954. A wide part of the museum is also dedicated to temporary exhibitions about art and history of Arlon.

The Rangenberg is a protected natural area, located in the heart of the vineyard of Dorlisheim. This hill is made of both dry grasslands and dense vegetation. A rich biodiversity has been preserved: many types of wild orchids have thus been identified here. At the foot of the Rangenberg, towards the plains, is the "Puits d'Amour" (Well of Love), a place where flows a small natural stream of water surrounded by a cut stone arbor and some fruit trees.

The Wurmberg is a safe haven for many species of plants and animals. Through fallow lands, meadows and orchards, the hiker will discover the distinctive landscape of the Vosges foothills. The terraces, arranged at different levels of the hillside, shelter rare types of orchids, such as the Aster Amellus, the Gentianopsis Ciliata, or the Aquilegia. In the hedges, are hiding badgers, red-backed shrikes and sparrows. The orchards, bearing ancient varieties of fruits, are the favorite refuge of wrynecks and insects.

A tympanum, representing St. Martin sharing his cloak with a beggar, adorns this late Gothic style steeple from 1523. The nave and the chorus were added in 1766. Outside the building, embedded in the perimeter wall of the former churchyard, is a small holy Sepulcher from the 15th century.

This side-gabled Baroque chapel, also known as the "Heilig Hiesel" (the Little Holy House), is rumored to be the work of a paralyzed Lutherian who managed to walk again thanks to a pilgrimage. It is supposed to have been built in 1745 by the Order of the Recollects on the site of an oratory, right next to a former convent and its chapel, the Chapel of Our Lady of Lorette. Originally, a statue of the Mater Dolorosa stood in a niche and overlooked the entire village of Hernolsheim. Only the vestibule of the chapel can be visited.

Bishop Gabriel Haug had this chapel built right up against the chevet of the Conventual Church of the Recollects. The latter was sold as State property during the Revolution and demolished in 1795. There is only one remaining piece of the church, on the Western wall of the chapel. Through a door is the entrance to the courtyard, bathing in the shade of an ancient linden tree which might be standing since 1790. Above that door stands the founder's coat of arms. Once inside the little chapel, you can see his gravestone. Private property but open to visitors every day.

This "Wasserburg" (water castle) has been protecting the entrance to the Bruche Valley since the 14th century. In the episcopate of the four cardinals of Rohan, from 1704 to 1790, it became an episcopal residence. Today, it has been turned into a cultural centre. The castle also houses a museum where you may see a weapon exhibit (with firearms and bladed weapons) as well as a stone collection. The castle is not open to visitors (only the museum is accessible).

The cinema is open since 1988 and proposes two or three movies a week, showed during 3 sessions (on Wednesday, Saturday and Tuesday)

Sitting at the foot of the Felsbourg, this chapel was originally dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Inside can be seen remnants of frescoes which used to decorate the choir and the nave. The current title of "St. Wendelin" has taken the place of "Virgin Mary" between the 17th and 18th centuries. At the time, sickness and epidemics were legion among farm animals; poultry and cattle alike. Thus, many believers called upon the protection of the Patron Saint of herdsmen. The parish council of Mutzig bought the chapel in 1885.

A small sanctuary dedicated to the Virgin Mary and which was mainly frequented by pregnant women and people suffering from ringworm. Its date of construction remains a mystery but it might be from the 17th century. The chapel has been renovated in 1972.

The Museum Rohan is a curiosity of the medieval town of Mutzig, located on the Alsace wine road about twenty kilometers from Strasbourg. br> The Rohan castle, once a moat castle (15th century), became an episcopal residence in 1669. The four cardinals of Rohan stayed there from 1704 to 1789. Sold as a national good during the revolution, it was acquired in 1803 by the Coulaux brothers, who created a weapon factory. Acquired by the municipality in 1962, the castle was restored in the 1980s and the museum was installed in 1995 in its north wing. There, you can discover armour and rifles (including the famous Chassepot), architectural elements, baptismal vat (13th century), bounding stones and coat of arms, as well as temporary exhibitions of he rich past of Mutzig. br> The city of Mutzig, in partnership with Archaeology Alsace, opens a new permanent space in its museum entirely dedicated to the archaeological discoveries made at the place called Rain in Mutzig. Since 2010, a team of archaeologists made up of professionals, amateurs and students has been working every summer to uncover the remains of this exceptional prehistoric deposit. Dated about -90,000, the site is repeatedly occupied by the Neanderthal, a nomad hunter-gatherer, living in the Middle Paleolithic (from -300,000 to -35,000). Composed of sixty remains, the section presents the environmental context of the Neanderthal man before understanding the reasons for his installation on the massif of the Felsbourg and its way of life in the Bruche valley. Designed for both neophytes and specialists, this new exhibition route is embellished with maps, excavation visuals, illustrations and reconstructions of objects, didactically addresses the Neanderthal camp discovered in Mutzig. The 4-person gîte comprises upstairs 1 large double bedroom, 1 bedroom with 2 single beds and 1 dressing room. The bathroom has a shower, bath and WC. On the first floor, the living room/kitchen opens onto the outside thanks to its large picture windows. The garden furniture outside lets you enjoy the sunshine and the lapping of the stream. The 2-person apartment communicates with this dwelling, bringing the possibility of accommodation capacity for 6 people. The house is located close to the shops in a passage reserved exclusively for pedestrians. Access to the house is on foot from the public parking lots 150 m away.
