Camping Bouix: Escape to Argeles-sur-Mer

Cultural discovery of the town center up to the foot of the Albèra. Start at the Tourist Office and head towards the arrival roundabout.   Turn right onto Route de la Mer and continue along the street to the right after the gas station.   Take a right onto Avenue Molière, cross the "La Massane" river.   Turn left after the community hall to reach Avenue du 14 Juillet.   Turn left on the avenue, then turn right after the bridge.   Leave the riverside and head left on Rue de la République, then follow the direction of the Casa de l'Albère.   Join the national road.   Cross and then take a left onto Rue d'Alembert until you reach a roundabout, then continue onto Rue du Repos.   At the next roundabout, take the Chemin de la Cerigue. Pass under the bridge of the expressway and take a left onto Chemin de la Massane.   In front of the Mimosas campsite, turn left towards Château de Valmy.

This loop, starting from Argelès, takes you to the villages nestled at the foot of the Albera range. A playful discovery awaits, thanks to the Isalia game created by the Intercommunal Tourist Office. The discovery farm in Saint-André and the Valley of Turtles in Sorède will delight both young and old alike. Starting point:Head left onto Avenue des Platanes, then turn right at the Arrival roundabout onto Avenue Charles de Gaulle. Take the right onto Route de la Mer, near the gas station. Turn right onto Avenue Molière, continue straight until the roundabout, where you’ll take the third exit onto Rue des Trabucayres. At the next roundabout, take the second exit onto Rue du 14 Juillet, then take the first right, which runs along the river "La Massana." Turn left at the ford to reach Rue des Merles, then continue onto Rue des Colibris. Bypass the bank through Impasse des Sarcelles and turn left onto the bike path, which leads to the roundabout. Cross the roundabout and continue on the small road straight ahead. Follow the railway tracks, then turn left at the small bridge, passing an aeromodelling club. Keep going and at the large roundabout, stay right on the Pirenexus, following the D618. Turn right and follow a pleasant small paved road. Enjoy a nice visit to the discovery farm. Then return to the Pirenexus. Turn right, then left under the bridge onto the Chemin du Mas Nou. Continue along Route de Taxo to reach Saint-André. In Saint-André : Turn right onto Rue de Taxo, then right again onto Rue du Miloussa. Take the first left to reach the heart of the village. Visit the Tourist Information Office where you can get the "Isalia" game. Good luck in Saint-André! Next, head towards Sorède : Take Rue des Albères. At the roundabout, take the second exit right and go up Rue Joan Cayrol, continuing along Chemin de Saint-André. You will soon be on a section of EuroVelo 8, passing through olive groves and vineyards. At this point, turn right and cross the ford. Turn left onto Route de Palau (D11). At the second roundabout, head towards Rue de l'Église. After the square, go straight onto Rue Saint-Jacques, then Rue du Moulin Cassanyes. Follow Avenue de la Vallée Heureuse and go all the way to the Valley of Turtles. Valley of Turtles.Meet several species of turtles and other unexpected animals. Once the visit is complete, retrace your steps back. Head left towards Laroque Turn right onto Rue Louis et Michel Soler. Take a detour through the Tourist Office. Don’t hesitate to explore the typical streets of the village. Return to the Tourist Office and head towards Saint-Genis-des-Fontaines by turning left. Cross the bridge and go straight. Take Rue de Tanya. Turn onto Cami de la Creu and go straight towards the center of Saint-Genis-des-Fontaines. Turn onto Place Jean Rolland and carefully descend Rue Clemenceau. At the Tourist Office, the "Isalia" game will be offered for a detective challenge in the cloister (same location). Once completed, head left onto Rue Clemenceau, then continue straight to the Pirenexus. Return to Argelès via the Pirenexus Turn left, following the same route as you did initially.

A route accessible to everyone. From the Port Parking, head to the far right of the parking lot to access the docks via a ramp. If you're walking, you can also reach the docks directly via the stairs.   The first part of this walk takes you along the Vasco de Gama, Christophe Colomb, and Jacques Cartier docks. Among the boats moored at the port, take the time to notice the Catalan boats, which are a source of pride for sea lovers.  As you stroll between the shops and the docks, you will also discover businesses offering sea outings. It's a great opportunity to come back and explore the beautiful marine life of the Côte Vermeille (boat tours, scuba diving, fishing—take your pick). More info here.   Be sure to stop at the end of the dock to see the fishermen, who will be happy to offer you their fresh catch of the day.   Exiting the port, cross the Massane River via the metal bridge that leads you to the seafront.   After a few dozen meters, you will pass through a shared promenade area. Pedestrians stay on the paved walkway, while cyclists use the dirt path on the left. Please respect these guidelines for the best experience.   The promenade then allows you to enjoy a 1.5 km walk with views of the seafront on your right, and on the left, the Argeles Photo Nature exhibition. Each year, a new theme is featured. In 2020, the exhibition is called "Bears and Co."   Continue your stroll leisurely until you reach the Charles Trenet esplanade. Fountains will help you cool off and will delight children. On your left, the houses give way to the beachside shops, bars, and restaurants.   Further along, you will find a play area for children (payable) and an adult area (Casino) before finishing the walk on the cobbled streets. If you wish, you can also continue walking under the pine trees ahead of you, all the way to the Camping le Roussillonais. However, this path may be more difficult for people with limited mobility due to the sandy surface.   For the return, retrace your steps while respecting the distancing zones between cyclists and pedestrians.

Walk in the footsteps of the memories of the Argelès-sur-Mer camp, where more than 170,000 refugees were interned between February 1939 and the beginning of 1942. From the Monolith (marking the former entrance of the camp), follow the coastal path towards the Mas Larrieu nature reserve. Pass by the Roussillonnais campsite, then turn left at the Marende parking lot. From the North plaque (symbolizing the northern boundary of the camp), take the bike path along the D81 until you reach the junction with Avenue de la Retirada, which you should then follow. Continue along Avenue de la Retirada on the bike path until you reach the Spanish Cemetery (the former camp cemetery), located across from the Les Marsouins campsite. From here, you can either return to the beach retracing your steps or continue straight ahead towards the village to discover the Camp Memorial (26 Avenue de la Libération). More information

Sportively connect two emblematic sites of our region in a military-themed atmosphere... Start from the parking lot and cross Le Racou along the beachfront. Take the trail that ascends, making a detour to the panoramic viewpoint above, then return to the coastal path. Head towards the cove of Porteils and then to Ouille Beach. After Ravaner, large steps carved into the shale cliff lead up to the cliff top. Next, pass the concrete platform of a cannon, built during the German occupation, located on the left. Descend towards the talweg and cross it using a wooden footbridge. Ascend to the gate of the property "d’en Bertrand. Continue straight under the wall. On the right, you'll see Fort Rond and Fort Carré, part of an 18th-century defensive system, and opposite, Fort Miradou, currently the National Commando Training Center (CNEC). Continue towards Collioure, noting Fort Carré and the Tour de l'étoile. Proceed until you reach the stadium parking lot. Descend towards Collioure, taking Rue du Pla de las Fourques on the left. Turn right at the roundabout and take the small street that climbs through Collioure's typical neighborhoods. Then head towards Boramar Beach and the Tourist Office, making a detour to the small beach of Saint Vincent behind the church of the same name.

“The Mediterranean Cycle Route (section Argelès-sur-Mer (train station) / Le Boulou)” 1. En la intersección con stop, frente a la farmacia, giren a la izquierda para llegar a la rotonda y rodeenla por la derecha. Pasen dos salidas y continúen por el carril bici, camino de las Brunesses. El camino pasa al lado de la vía del tren, a la izquierda, y luego pasa por debajo de un puente.5. Llegada a la rotonda de Sant-Andreu. Continúe por la derecha, por debajo de la carretera departamental D618 hasta el final del itinerario.

The longuest hike in Albères To get on this circuit, go down to the crossing ford and go up left on the track DFCI-AL n°42. The descent towards the chapelle Saint Laurent and Mas de la Monge (ruins) At the crossroads of the two tracks, take on the left, track DFCI-ALn°28. Pass in front of the tank n°372. From this moment, stay on this trck where small climbs, plateaus and rolling downhill are pleasant. The track leads to a tarmac track at Mas Coq. Turn right down this road. Be careful not to miss the junction on the right on the track DFCI-AL n°36 which crosses to the cork oak forest and the meadows of Mas Torrenaps et Platjatorta. Follow the track to reach the Faba road opening onto the vineyards and the Meditrranean Continue and arrive in front of the highway bridge. Turn right on the road parallel to the expressway till the second bridge. Take the Massane road at the edge of the vineyards which brings you back to « les Mimosas » campsite and the parking of château de Valmy

A fun and easy family bike ride. To reach the village  from the Valmy carpark take the direction of the campsite "Les Mimosas" then turn on the left  again and take the road of la Massane.  2. Ride along the fast road and continue straight towards Auberge du Roua. A t the Auberge du Roua, continue straight on and pass under the bridge. At the ford , go up the bank and  pass  through the small path of the Valmy carpark mall path on your left the Rue des Micocouliers. Arriving in front of the wine-growers cooperative , bypass it to join the river La Massana.After the ford, take the first “bridge” on the left. This path joins up with another path, which does not allow cars, so it is extra safe for children..  Continue straight on, pass in front of the city hall of Argeles -sur-Mer and cross or bypass the carpark to reach le "Cami de la Mainada".  At the roundabout, take the dirt road alongside the gardens, and opening in front of Espace Jean Carrère Take a left and cross the road in direction of le Chemin des Conques. After the city park, take the path on the right. Follow the dirt path that enters into the fields. The campsite Beauséjour is situated at the end of the path. At the  junction with the Avenue du Tech, continue straight on and take the avenue des Albères. Take the cycle path on the right to reach the tourist office.  To extend the bike ride that normally ends  on the beach, take the third exit on the roundabout. along the seaside walking path in a southerly direction until the exhibition of large picture realised by Les Enfants de la Mer.   Continue to  the Port. Then bear right over the footbridge and  proceed on the right to reach the roundabout and the cycle path. At the pleasure sailor’s , carpark get to the dirt path opposite. Then, take the paved road, secure and separated of the road that li  Valmy.This is another section that is very safe and protectred for the kids.

The two Chapels (Red color signs « VTT » (mountain bike) n°7) Follow the direction to the campsite  "Les Mimosas" to take the road of la Massane. The fast road is on your right. Do not go under the bridge.  At the next junction, take a left in direction of the Ermitage of  Notre-Dame de Vie. Walk through an oak forest until you reach the 2 chapels. Enjoy the panorama of the Roussillon’s plain before coming back down. The stony path is then on your left. After a few meters, use the trail DFCI-N°36 which enters the cork oak forest and crosses the prairies of the Mas Torrenaps and Platjatorta. At the junction, take the little paved road on the left  Be careful, during a few meters , it’s a real wall in front of you. Then take on the trail  DFCI n°28 and progressively climb up the mountain. Catch your breath and admire an exceptional panorama on the Mount Canigou, the Roussillon’ plain the Mediterranean Sea. Stay on this trail where the forest is home to different essences of oak trees and which is crossed by some steams . At the citern n° 372, go down on the left in direction of Valmy. Pay attention to your speed in this area, hikers and cars pass near the houses.

In the heart of Montagne Noire, half way between Montpellier and Toulouse, at 45 km away front Carcassonne, enjoy the indoors and outoors comfort in a wooded setting along the river. The Força Vella section of the ramparts was a military construction of decisive importance right from the times of the Roman precint (1bC). During the second half of the 14th century, this defensive rampart was thoroughly rebuilt at the initiative of Peter III the Ceremonious. The medieval fortification rested on the natural rock that rose a few meters above the sandy banks of the river Onyar.  It was an improvement over the old Roman wall which was used as a foundation, made into a double wall or even, in some sections, actually replaced by the new wall. From the early years of the 16th century, the walled precinct was absorbed into the city and the walls, by becoming features actually standing in the city, lost their military defensive value. This situation brought on the star of their deterioration, as parts of the walls were gradually altered from the inside and the outside to meet the needs of the people living alongside the fortification, by which time the former defensive construction had become an enormous party wall.  

Discovery of an exceptional natural environment At an altitude of 850 m, this chasm is about 60m by 30m and is accessible thanks to a platform of vision for a visit in full safety. It is the abyss of both absorption and collapse. The total depth reaches about 110m. This hole was a mass grave. When the horses were at the end of their life, their owner took them to this chasm. We guess then why this hole was prized crows.

One can, without fear of being accused of exaggeration, describe Fontestorbes as "Wonder of the World" and contrary to the seven wonders of the ancient world, all having in common to be the fact of the man, Fontestorbes is the only fruit of the chance of nature. A rare phenomenon and really extraordinary. For most of the year (7 to 9 months), the fountain runs constantly. On the other hand, during periods of low water from July to September, one day, it becomes abruptly intermittent over a complete cycle of about 60 to 90 minutes.

The fountain, once the place of processions and altars, was the village centre of old Mireval which was, according to memory, in a valley where tiles and carved stone was found.

The Frau Gorge is the result of a long geological evolution. The mountain of Frau is an accumulation of secondary folded and compressed tablecloths carved by the glaciations, the strong snows and numerous floods digging the valley in gorges.

Cimbing the steps leading to the top of the observatory affords you a magnificient view over the Tabe massif and the lake.
