Discover Cerbere at municipal campground Peyrefite

Explore Cerbère, a border town with a rich historical past, and its shale cliffs set in a stunning natural environment. Note that Terrimbo Beach is inaccessible. Depart from Peyrefite Beach towards the Bouffard Vercelli Rehabilitation Center.  At this point, either turn left towards Cap Peyrefite or go through the Village des Aloès. At Anse de Terrimbo, continue on the path along the railway line. It is forbidden to descend to the beach. Climb up to the D914 and turn left towards Cerbère Beach. Continue on the D914 until you reach the solar lighthouse at Cap Cerbère. At the lighthouse, take the steep path to the left that goes above the shale cliffs. At the "End of Customs Path" sign, continue the trail towards Col des Bélitres and the Retirada memorial. The coastal path continues to Rosas. It is marked "GR-92" from Col des Bélitres at the former Cerbère border post.

Megaliths, feudal ruins and exceptional views. From the Tourist Information Office go south and turn right on rue du Ribéral, then into the tunnel; take the Ribéral bed to Mas Mingou. Descend to follow the river bed. At the bridge take the right path. Pass near the Transfesa site then near the kennel and continue until the end. Descend to follow the river bed. When you cross the concrete ford, you enter the ONF domain, take the forest road, you will pass near the sheepfold Las Ocas and walk in the pine forest, there, observe the menhir of Sant Salvador before reaching Pla de the Vaques. Take the DFCI-AL67 track to the crow's feet where you have to turn right and again right then the track to the left. At the Col de la Fareilla, take the crest trail passing near the Col de la Farella dolmen (in very poor condition). Climb to Pic Querroig. At Pic Querroig, you can see the ruins of the old castle and the tower. The view is exceptional. Continue your journey along the ridges. Pass near the Dolmen of Coll de Les Portes, Go through the Col de Cerbère, near the watchtower. At Pic Joan go to Pic Galline, between the two peaks you can see the Coma Enestepera dolmen. At the Pic de la Galline, continue towards Cerbère. In the subdivision, take rue Salvador Dali, rue Aristide Maillol then left and right until rue du Mas Nadal. At the end, go left towards rue du Bel Horizon. Cross the railroad tracks and return to the ILO.

The extent of the international station over the village seen from the heights of Cerbère. Turn right when leaving the Cerbère Tourist Office on Avenue Maréchal Joffre. Take the first street on the right to reach rue du Riberal and turn left. At the place of the ferry, go right. Cross the railway line and follow the Ribéral bed towards Mas Mingou. Turn right at the bridge follow the path. At the ford, take the path to the right. At the intersection, turn left, chemin des vignes then left at the end, rue du Pic Carroitg then left again rue du Bel Horizon and go down avenue de la Côte Vermeille. Return to the Tourist Office.

A short hike on the first heights of Cerbère. From the Tourist Office of Cerbère turn to the right avenue Maréchal Joffre, take the first street on the right to join rue du Riberal and leave to the left. At the level of "transbordeuses" square, go to the right and cross the old railway track. Stay right along the river. At the bridge turn left, you will pass "Mas Mingou" and "Mas Tounet". Turn right on the river and follow the path. At this point go left on the path (DFCI-AL66) then the path (DFCI-AL66bis) for 2km. Arriving on the D914, make a few meters on the left, the old border post is located in front of you. Go back down towards the village of Cerbère. Cross the railway tracks and reach the "Transbordeuses" square. Return to the Tourist Office by the same route as going.

In the footsteps of exiles who fled oppression during "La Retirada" and during the war of 39-45. Leave from the Cerbère Tourist Office and follow the D914 to the Cerbère photovoltaic lighthouse. Go around the lighthouse, take the marked path which rises to the left above the cliffs. When you arrive at the Puig de Cerbère, go to the right following the path and cross the D914. At the old border post, turn right and go up to see the Retirada memorial on the hill. Continue and take the marked path on the left which descends towards Port-Bou. Arrived in Port-Bou, continue on the GR-92. Head towards the beach and the "Passeig de Sardana". At the corner of the restaurant "Voramar" turn right then take the first left, climb the stairs and go right following the signs "Memorial Walter Benjamin.

An emotional walk to discover the Retirada memorial located on the French-Spanish border. Breathtaking view. Leave from the Tourist Office of Cerbère and join the Place de la République by turning right at the real estate agency. Take the street on the left into the riverbed. At the level of the transshiper plot, do not turn into the Ribéral tunnel and continue straight on rue Jean Barrat. Continue on the steep path that rises on the left in the scrubland to the departmental road. Cross the departmental road and go straight to the old tagged border post. Go up on the left and cross the departmental road again to take the path that goes up on the right to the Col des Bélitres. Go to the Retirada Memorial which is indicated. Cross the road and go in front on the path that leads to the Puig Cerbère (end of the path of the customs officers in France) and the photovoltaic lighthouse of Cerbère. Be careful at the cliffs. After the lighthouse, follow the road to go down to the Tourist Office of Cerbère.

Heights of Cerbere between vineyards and seaboard From the République carpark, near the tourisme Office, cross the RD 914 and take right Anatole France street. Down the Anatole France street, turn left and take the Ribéral street or "Dominique Mitjaville" street until the tunnel. In front of the tunnel, take left and climb towards Jean Barrat street to pass under the railway tracks. At the ending of the tunnel, Take the path which climb  straight on until the old border post . Along the RD 914 walk on 200 meters and turn right to take the wide forest track (DFCI-AL64) until  Puig dels Frare. This track lead to the foot of Serrat del Fito. At the intersection, continue to the track DFCI-AL 64. At the branching junction, come down towards the DFCI AL67 and cross a little clearing (Pla de las Vacas). Continue on the track DFCI-AL65 until the  Col of Embarselo et the path of the crest. Then take the small tarred road which lead to the place called “La Solane”. To shorten the hike, at the junction of the Crest Road, turn right and pass under the tunnel to reach downtown. Otherwise, at the housing project go down to the dead end Al Soula and follow the  Puig Carroitg street. Crossing the footbridge across the railway tracks with a view of the Hotel “The Belvédère of the green ray”. Head down to the stairs and turn left to reach the statue of the Transborders.

Prendre à gauche, descendre les escaliers et continuer tout droit en direction de la plage pour arriver à l’office du tourisme.

The Força Vella section of the ramparts was a military construction of decisive importance right from the times of the Roman precint (1bC). During the second half of the 14th century, this defensive rampart was thoroughly rebuilt at the initiative of Peter III the Ceremonious. The medieval fortification rested on the natural rock that rose a few meters above the sandy banks of the river Onyar.  It was an improvement over the old Roman wall which was used as a foundation, made into a double wall or even, in some sections, actually replaced by the new wall. From the early years of the 16th century, the walled precinct was absorbed into the city and the walls, by becoming features actually standing in the city, lost their military defensive value. This situation brought on the star of their deterioration, as parts of the walls were gradually altered from the inside and the outside to meet the needs of the people living alongside the fortification, by which time the former defensive construction had become an enormous party wall.  

Discovery of an exceptional natural environment At an altitude of 850 m, this chasm is about 60m by 30m and is accessible thanks to a platform of vision for a visit in full safety. It is the abyss of both absorption and collapse. The total depth reaches about 110m. This hole was a mass grave. When the horses were at the end of their life, their owner took them to this chasm. We guess then why this hole was prized crows.

One can, without fear of being accused of exaggeration, describe Fontestorbes as "Wonder of the World" and contrary to the seven wonders of the ancient world, all having in common to be the fact of the man, Fontestorbes is the only fruit of the chance of nature. A rare phenomenon and really extraordinary. For most of the year (7 to 9 months), the fountain runs constantly. On the other hand, during periods of low water from July to September, one day, it becomes abruptly intermittent over a complete cycle of about 60 to 90 minutes.

The Frau Gorge is the result of a long geological evolution. The mountain of Frau is an accumulation of secondary folded and compressed tablecloths carved by the glaciations, the strong snows and numerous floods digging the valley in gorges.

The fountain, once the place of processions and altars, was the village centre of old Mireval which was, according to memory, in a valley where tiles and carved stone was found.

The name of this hamlet comes from the occitan mira valh meaning "look at the valley".
