My first night in a refuge at Chatelet d'Ayères

This glacial lake, whose emerald waters owe their name to the underwater vegetation, offers a breathtaking panorama of the Mont Blanc massif. Listed as a nature reserve, it is a haven of unspoilt beauty and tranquillity. Easily accessible, the site is ideal for a family stroll or a contemplative break. A path winds around the lake, overlooking it and allowing you to appreciate all its facets. Depending on the light and the season, the landscape changes and takes on unique colors. Lac Vert is also a place steeped in local legends, adding to the magic of the place. In order to preserve this fragile ecosystem, no swimming or water sports are permitted. It's a must-see for lovers of nature, photography and mountain serenity.

The Himalayan footbridge was built on the old road leading from the Plateau d'Assy to Lac Vert. This flexible structure allows the Nant Bordon to be crossed at a height of 20 m above the watercourse. It can only be crossed on foot or by bicycle.In order to blend into its environment, the footbridge was designed to be light and airy. It follows the route of the old Lac Vert road, which was closed in 1984 after it collapsed at the Nant Bordon. At each end are the Regardeurs, a work created in 2020 by OPJ CYGANEK & JULIE POULAI. Vehicles are parked in the Place Tobé car park, below the Notre-Dame-de-Toute-Grace church. A pedestrian pathway through the forest then provides access to the structure.

In winter: Small restaurant for lunch, rostiflette, cheese crust, omelette. In the evening, on reservation only on Friday and Saturday.

The church of Notre-Dame-de-Toute-Grâce (1950) is the key building in the 20th century revival of sacred art. The masterpieces that decorate it are signed by the greatest artists of modern art.Founded by Canon Devémy for the sanatorial population, designed by Maurice Novarina and consecrated in 1950, the Plateau d'Assy church was decorated, with the advice of Dominican Father Marie-Alain Couturier, by the greatest masters of modern art (Jean Bazaine, Pierre Bonnard, Georges Braque, Marc Chagall, Fernand Léger, Jean Lurçat, Henri Matisse, Germaine Richier, Georges Rouault, Chaim Jacob Lipchitz, Marguerite Huré, Théodore Strawinsky, Carlo Sergio Signori, Adeline Hébert-Stevens). In 2004, the building was classified as a Historic Monument and awarded the "Patrimoine du XXème siècle" label.
