A picnic area has been set up at the Col de Lestards, 856 m above sea level. There is also an orientation table offering a superb view of all the Cantal mountains.

In the early 14th century, Lestards was under the patronage of the Commandery of Saint-Antoine de Viennois. The church has Romanesque supports and barrel vaults dating from the late 12th-early 13th centuries. The cross vault in the transept square dates from the 15th or 16th century. The west entrance facade is a wall-gabled bell tower, flanked by four corner buttresses. The building has a thatched roof (unique in France). Its interior decoration (sculpted capitals) has been enhanced by recent restoration work. Free admission, 8am to 7pm. Group visits by prior arrangement all year round.

The Benedictine abbey was founded in the 9th century by Rodolphe de Turenne, Archbishop of Bourges. He installed monks from Solignac. In the early 12th century, the community became affiliated to the Cluny order. The majestic Limousin Romanesque edifice is built in pale ochre sandstone, according to the plans of a large monastic pilgrimage church. It is dominated by a dungeon bell tower. The abbey church is best known for its remarkable early 12th-century sculpted tympanum depicting the return of Christ at the end of time - the Parousia - with a majestic Christ in the center. The tympanum was carved by image carvers from Toulouse.

A medieval town on the right bank of the Dordogne, Beaulieu has been dubbed "one of the most beautiful villages in France", thanks to its mild climate, ideal for growing strawberries. Beaulieu's main attraction is its remarkable Saint-Pierre abbey church, whose portal, a masterpiece of Romanesque art depicting the return of Christ at the end of time, is comparable to that of Moissac. Stroll through the narrow streets, compare the turreted facades, decorated with medallions and cherubs, like the house of Adam and Eve, and dream of the Chapelle des Pénitents and its bell-wall reflected in the waters of the Dordogne. It was sold as national property during the French Revolution. In 1820, it was bought by the Pénitents bleus brotherhood. The gisant de Saint-Merd-les-Oussines is a funerary sculpture in the church of Saint-Merd-les-Oussines, Corrèze, France. According to studies, this sculpted tomb is the grave of a dignitary of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, dating from the 15th century. The Saint-Merd-les-Oussines recumbent is the only granite recumbent from this period preserved in the Limousin region that was not destroyed during the French Revolution; 14 granite recumbents are known.

Possibly dating from the Carolingian period, this bridge was used by the rural road from Varieras to Pérols sur Vézère. It features a single low arch, three water passages on the left side and a small forebay made of cut granite blocks. It is used by several hiking trails.

The Les Cars archaeological site is one of the most remarkable ancient sites in the Limousin. Between moorland and forest, on the Plateau de Millevaches, a villa and two temple tombs tell the story of a history that goes back almost 2,000 years. The identity of the owners is unknown. But is that the most important thing? Here, for example, the site is undefended and inordinately luxurious: surprising, isn't it? Probably a sign of a long period of peace and wealth? There are surprises for everyone, young and old, history buffs, those curious about construction techniques, agriculture, water management, religious rites, heritage, enigmas? and even hygiene! So, throughout the visit, the Les Cars site tells us almost as much about ourselves as it does about the Roman imperial period.

Saint-Pardoux lies close to the Doustre river and the reservoir of the Valette dam. The village, like its immediate surroundings, is teeming with small-scale heritage features that bear witness to the social ties of yesteryear (wash-house, bread oven, drying sheds, wells, etc.). A charming Romanesque church, probably dating back to the 10th century, a 12th-century castle and a miraculous fountain on the banks of the Doustre river are all well worth a visit.

At an altitude of 820 m, the Puy de Sarran, marked by its triple calvary, takes the form of a conifer-covered dome. It lies between the Pradines fault to the east and the Treignac fault to the west. From the summit, there's a wide view over the Corrèze and Auvergne mountains.

Overlooking the Montane valley, the village grew up around a 12th-century church of Romanesque origin, with a magnificent Renaissance porch listed as a Historic Monument. Nearby, a restored bread oven is open to visitors. At the Vitrac service area, you'll find the memorial to the Resistance, whose design is unique in the world. To get to the memorial, take the A89 towards Clermont-Ferrand, exit at "Aire de Corrèze".
