So take your time and discover... An important historical heritage nestled in the heart of a natural environment with the river Tarn and the forests and farmland that make up the area. The river Tarn, which runs alongside the commune, offers locals and visitors alike a range of water-based activities. The Greenway, which links Villemur to the surrounding communes and provides a safe, non-motorised means of transport. In addition to a Natura 2000 area, Villemur is part of the Val'Aïgo region, which also promotes nature and the environment, with two Espaces Naturels Sensibles and a wide range of outdoor activities.

It is a set of silos built around 1610 by the last constable of France François De Bonne, Duke of Lesdiguières, companion in arms of the good King Henry. A building largely inspired by the Italian Renaissance, restored in 1971, this brick and half-timbered monument will transport you to the heart of Tuscany or Milan. The site is only accessible during events or guided tours organised by the Tourist Office or the Association du Villemur Historique. Listed as a historic monument, this key part of the town's old defensive system welcomes visitors at the entrance to the town. An emblematic feature of the town, it now houses a number of exhibitions in a friendly, fun environment. Located in the Notre-Dame district, the Tour de Défense is the town's oldest monument, along with the mill. Built in the 12th century to block access to the city, it was also used as a mill. It has a remarkable roof structure on the ground and ground floors. The city walls rested on the sides of this imposing 2-storey brick tower. In 1830, the upper storeys of the buildings on either side of the Tower were built, partly concealing it. The fortress is built in the Visigothic style, with a short rectangle at its base, extended by a semi-circle on one side. It rises 30 m above the water. Clad in flat tiles, the tower has three levels. On the outside, loopholes and windows with geminated and third-pointed openings bear witness to its original military function. The Brusson brothers set up their first pasta factory here in 1872. In 1889, a pump installed at the foot of the tower pumped water from the Tarn, after being filtered through gravel. Villemur was one of the very first towns in the region to be equipped with a water supply system.

The gastronomic fare offered echoes the spirit of the Château and the Salle de l'Alto which were renovated and transformed by the owner. It's a subtle combination of modern and traditional, as evidenced by the furniture where Sixties design leather armchairs sit side by side with custom-made raw wood tables along contemporary lines, mouldings and a fireplace.
