Télégraphe Wood, the grave of Captain Hugot-Derville... He rests, as he wished, where he stopped the enemy....
On 5 September 1914, near Penchard, the Moroccan Brigade launched an attack on Télégraphe Wood, a wooded hill under German control. The fighting was extremely deadly; Captain Hugot-Derville, who had been thrown from his horse, was killed with his revolver in his hand. He lies, as he wished, where he fell.
