Balade patrimoine d'Asson : une communauté pastorale millénaire
Beschrijving
In Asson in het Pays de Nay, tussen Béarn en Bigorre, kunt u tijdens deze wandeling een zeer oude agro-pastorale gemeenschap ontdekken. Door zijn strategische ligging lag het op het kruispunt van de transhumance routes tussen de bergen en de vlakten, op de grens tussen Béarn en Bigorre, maar ook op de weg van de Piemonte richting Compostela
Deze wandeling, die zelfstandig kan worden gemaakt, begint bij het huidige dorp Asson op het "Castet Nau", het nieuwe kasteel. Het gaat terug in de geschiedenis, en vertelt ons over het leven in het verleden. Het brengt ons naar de top van het "Castet Bielh", het oude kasteel, vanwaar we de vlakte kunnen domineren en kunnen genieten van een panoramisch uitzicht op de Pyreneeën.

Enjoy the panorama from the Castet de Nau’s balustrade
From the front of the school, go towards the church. Cross the road D35 and continue ahead on the road Rue des Pyrénées to the church. Go along it to enjoy the view from the Castet de Nau.
Reach the castle d’Abères
From the Castet de Nau, go along the railing to the right and go down a staircase leading to the Memorial. Leave the public garden by a staircase. Cross the road D35 and go down to the left to reach the castle d’Abères.
Discover the factories of the Labat neighbourhood.
From the castle d’Abères, cross the road D35 and go on the street Rue de Labat towards the neighbourhood with the same name. You can see a house with a stepped, gable roof, also a mill. Continue on the road Rue de Labat to reach the factories of the Labat neighbourhood.
Reach the Ermitage.
From the old lime kiln, go up to the left on the track towards the ferny area. Continue on the track. You’ll reach the quarries. Go up on the slightly steep path to the right. Turn left and go up to the cross and the Castet Bielh. Go down to the right towards a cross by the path that crosses a ditch to see the observation post (1939-1944). Go down crossing a wall in ruins to reach the Ermitage hill.
Go to the Marcadet portal in stone
Turn left, go down. 2h25 16) 43.15058° -0.25082° The Santiago Way. Turn right on the road. 2h35 17) 43.14936° -0.25255° the magistrates’ office. Go straight ahead on the road Rue Carrere Longue. Back to the point 9 continue on Carrere Longue. Turn left at a beautiful portal made of stone. 2h45 18) 43.14606° -0.25485° the Marcadet portal. Go down. Back on the road turn right to go back to the start.
