Arboretum of St Sauveur des Pourcils

Today, this hamlet seems abandoned in its dense forest setting. Yet Saint-Sauveur-des-Pourcils reveals a rich and intense history. Among the hundred or so species of trees in the arboretum, you can discover some exotic species.
Saint-Sauveur-des-Pourcils was one of the great agricultural estates of the Aigoual, purchased by the forestry administration at the end of the 19th century. The hamlet has only a church and a few buildings, including an imposing farmhouse resembling a château. Nearby, the walk continues through part of the arboretum, featuring a wide variety of tree species and some remarkable specimens.
