Saint Jean d'Aulps Village

In the heart of the valley, Saint Jean d’Aulps gave its name to the valley Haut Chablais valley: “valis de alpibus”, Aulps valley, meaning meadows.
Like its abbey and the monks who lived there, the village was also the catalyst for surrounding settlements. Over time, these hamlets spread out both sides of the Dranse river, so successfully that the impression is one of a truly settled place. With the success of skiing, Saint Jean d’Aulps developed a ski resort with a distinct natural advantage that is part of the Portes du Soleil.
