Refuge de l'Alpe du Pin

A self-guided tour exploring the Massif des Écrins. From one day to the next, staying at huts, gîtes and hotels, the wardens and restaurateurs invite you to taste their local specialities. This tour is for walkers with a good level of fitness.1st day: 3h30 walk / 621 m height gain / starting from the Plan du Lac, Lanchatra and night at the Alpe du Pin hut. 2nd day : 5h walk / 607m height gain, into the Vallon de la Mariande, followed by Souchey and La Lavey Night at La Lavey hut. 3rd day: 5h walk / 737m height gain Lac des Fétoules, Les Rajas, Champhorent, Champébran, Pré Clot. Night at the Gîte d'Etape Les Arias in a dorm. 4th day: 5h walk / 1070m height gain Plat de la Selle, St Christophe and museum visit. Night either in a dorm at the Cordée next door (with access to the hammam) or in a comfortable room at the Relais des Écrins gite. 5th day: 5h walk / 677m height gain Les Près, Miroir des Fétoules and the Peyssa orientation table, Le Puy and back to Plan du Lac.

Little-known and discreet, the Alpe du Pin refuge has everything it takes to delight your heart, mind and ... calves! You can count on a warm welcome and good food from Carine, the janitor.The refuge is set on a magnificent belvedere, so you'll be able to explore the landscape and hike in the midst of unspoilt nature. Around the refuge you'll find many activities such as hiking (tour du grand Cond, lac de la Mariande, lac du Salude, col de la Mariande...), mountaineering (tête de Lauranoure, col de la haute pisse...) and climbing (2 big routes in the pierroux, 3 routes around the Froude Pisse waterfall). Built in 1947, the refuge has retained the modesty of its origins over the decades, while reasonably adapting its comfort to today's requirements. In 2019, installation of a solar cooker Here, everything is homemade with local and seasonal products, some of which are organic. Oisans honey from Ecrin de Miel, Goodwin beers from Bourg-d'Oisans, meat and charcuterie from Ferme du Rochail, cheeses from Villard-Reculas and Ornon, flour from Trieves, eggs from Nord-Isere... Enjoy croziflette, donkey ears, blueberry tart and chocolate fondant. Various snacks available at all times. Half-board and picnics available. If you're planning to eat in a refuge, or even ask for a picnic, it's best to make a reservation in advance. The refuges have limited stocks, and in any case they are sized according to their capacity... While bivouacs are tolerated in the vicinity of the refuges (check with the wardens), campers are not counted in the stocks. Remember to call the wardens to book your meal if you wish to take advantage of the comfort of this service.
