On the hillsides of Cuqueron, three kilometres away from Monein, the Clos Bellevue is a Béarnaise building built from river pebbles and which offers a unique view onto the vineyard and the Pyrénées. The Clos Bellevue has existed since 1789. The body of the farm, with 40 hectares of meadows, fields, and vines, has survived for centuries whilst remaining in the hands of the same family. Mixed crops are farmed on the estate (livestock, cereals, vines) but the principal activity has always been winemaking. A Muchada family son, Oliver, has taken over the family business after training in modern winemaking techniques. The estate produces four different wines including special vintage aged in oak barrels. The family is also involved in the breeding of ‘Blonde d’Aquitaine’, a prestigious race of cattle.
The estate has ‘Destination Vignoble’ status.
