The tour will begin at one of the most well-preserved and private catacombs – the Catacomb of Santa Priscilla, one of the earliest underground Christian cemeteries, dating back to 150 years before Christianity was even legalized. You can also marvel at the oldest pictorial depiction of the Virgin Mary here. You will then move on to the Capuchin Bone Crypt that has been adorned with thousands of human bones. Your professional guide will help you descend to the depths of the crypt along with the rest of your group while you are regaled with stories of the crypt and and it's fascinating history.
You will also visit the Basilica of San Nicola in Carcere, built in the tenth century on the site of three temples that themselves date back to the first century, the exposed marble and columns of which are still visible at the structure today. You can explore the crypt that will lead you to the depths of the church, passing stacks of bone fragments and time itself as you climb lower still, discussing the history of the Basilica and its stint as a Medieval prison. It's an unforgettable experience you cannot miss!

Know Before You Go
Timings:
This tour starts at 2:00 PM and lasts for approximately three hours. It is available every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Meeting Point:
The meeting point is located at Piazza Barberini, Rome, Rome, IT- 00187.
Guidelines:
San Nicola, which is the last site we visit, is subject to closure during special celebrations/festivities, including the Easter ceremonies. If this occurs during your visit, we will run an alternative itinerary including other sites. End point in this case may vary, however it will always be centrally located.
Sites on this itinerary include holy places, and attire must be appropriate for the visit. Both men and women are asked to wear clothing that covers at least the shoulders and knees. We cannot be held responsible for denied entry due to improper dress. It is sufficient to bring extra coverings with you and put them on before our entrance to the holy areas.
Photography is not allowed in the sites visited on this tour, due to their religious nature.
