The know-how of the Creusois masons can be measured in the rural habitat. The care taken in the construction of the houses, particularly the carved door lintels, shows the concern of these migrant craftsmen, who worked in Paris (or elsewhere) for half the year, to leave a little of themselves at home. A statue of Notre-Dame du Bâtiment erected in 1901 on Le Puy Condreau reminds us that Gentioux was the centre of departure for workers in the Creuse.
