Formerly known as "Boulevard de l'Avenir", in the wake of the Eiffel bridge, this road was created at a time when the city was undergoing rapid economic and demographic development, and looking to the future (1850).
In December 1893, following the death of Mayor Pierre Flamens on December 16, 1893, the name of the boulevard was called into question. The Municipal Council decided that the boulevard should bear the name of the man who "was a man of boundless devotion and a benefactor who sacrificed everything for his commune and its citizens".
Free of charge.
