Description

Antoine Laumet dit Lamothe-Cadillac, founder of the city of Detroit and Governor of Louisiana, was appointed Governor of Castelsarrasin in 1722. He lived there from 1723 until his death on October 15, 1730, and was buried in the Pères Carmes church.
Residence of the Governors after the château was demolished in 1626. Lamothe-Cadillac was born in Saint-Nicolas de la Grave. His birthplace now houses the Musée Lamothe-Cadillac.
