Description

If you are in Marseille and want to cut yourself off from the world, to stop hearing the noise of the city and discover an enchanting landscape, go for a walk on the beach of the calanque of Sormiou.
You can get there via the Baumettes district, south of the city, by taking the Sormiou pass and its small winding road which goes down directly to the cove. In summer, the descent is more complicated because cars are not allowed, it is done on foot just like the ascent! But what a pleasure to be on this small sandy beach, not to hear any car noise but only the lapping of the turquoise water and the voices of the children who play at the water's edge.

The beach of the calanque of Sormiou is also a very good starting point to discover the calanques by kayak. A small marina, cabins, a restaurant of traditional and Provencal cuisine as well as a sports center UCPA occupy it. The parking is compulsory and paying : 5 EUR. The beach is equipped with toilets.

The beach is supervised by a rescue team in July and August.
This cove is now included in the Calanques National Park.
