Tèrra Aventura : La bataille du Mont Gargan

Description

The course will be undergoing maintenance work in early 2024.
At an altitude of 731 metres, Mont Gargan offers 360° panoramic views over the whole region and as far as the Auvergne, and has been the subject of many legends. One of these is linked to the passage of the giant Gargantua, who is credited with the formation of the relief, and may partly explain the etymology of "Gargant". Gargant would be the present participle of ?Garg? formed from the root ?Gar? meaning to swallow, to devour! Mont Gargan is also linked to a solar cult in which Gargantua, probably an ancient god of the Celts and Gauls transformed into a giant by popular belief and the work of Rabelais, is the personification of the life-giving sun.
