Saint-Chartres

Between the mills of Lauray and Chollay, the surprise is at every turn: bridge, spring, fountain, wash-house, mill. The list of curiosities is long throughout the trails (La sente Divine path n°15). Admire, among others, the Ayron stone bridge and fountain, the Roche springs, the dry valley of Fond Rivaud and the ancient quarries of the Roche cliffs. There, in an exceptional vegetal and geological setting, the hard limestone was cut on the spot: watering troughs, stone sinks, well copings for the farms of Loudunais' country.
