Étang de Chancelade

Description

Located one hour from Clermont-Ferrand, the pond of Chancelade is the largest pond of Puy-de-Dôme with an area of 132 ha. The pond and its surroundings are part of a wild and preserved site. (ZNIEFF)
Discover it on foot or fishing.
Chancelade Pond is designated as a ZNIEFF (Natural Area of Ecological, Floristic and Faunistic Interest) due to its rich variety of flora and fauna.

An educational trail and a pushchair-friendly route will help you explore this area.

The themed trail will help you discover Chancelade Pond through educational panels designed by pupils from the primary schools in Biollet, Espinasse and Charensat.

Along the water’s edge, you’ll find picnic tables in several spots, as well as a small playground and dry toilets.

Two wooden jetties offer views of the woodland landscape.

There are several parking areas:
- By the embankment,
- Next to the large information board,
- By the pond (tarmac access via La Gorce and at the start of the pushchair trail).

Please note that in the event of heavy rain, part of the nature trail (near the water’s edge) may be temporarily flooded.
